Is this deck still viable without mad scientist? I'm thinking of building it

If I don't have mad scientist is it not worth building this deck?

I opened alexstraza and I have one ice block. I could craft the rest and I have emperor thaurissan. Is it worth making this deck as a relatively new player? I'm open to learning this

There is no replacement for Alextraza as the deck revolves around you playing alextraza to get your opponent to 15 hp then killing him with spells the next turn. The deck is literally impossible without her.

Loot horder. Much better of Kobold for this deck.

This deck is fun. 

Had a shaman wreck me all game, and ended up turning it around.  Still had an extra ice block left too.

I just followed Tokkles83 advice on how to play the deck, seemed to work out.

Does anyone have this list updated with Naxx cards!?

I would probably drop a Drake and a Novice for 2 Mad Scientists, other than that, the deck should remain the same.

Sorcerer's Apprentice x2 + thalnos + 2 Fireballs + 2 frostbolts + 2 icelance

mana = 10 ( 2+2+2+2x2+0x2+0x2)

damage = 7x2+4x2+5x2 = 32dmg, and after that use pyro, i do it because haven't doomsayers and alex

yeah, but you need do not use this cards earlier in the game. freeze enemies and collect cards

Very unlikely you'll keep all your fireballs and frostbolts just for that combo though, often you'll need to burn some for removal.

I've been climbing fairly well with this deck but I keep running into problems with Ragnaros from Shaman, Druids, and Priests. Does anyone have any strategies on clearing Rag or handling him better?

I honestly think both are key:

a doomsayer can almost gurantee a full board clear at  5 mana with frost nova combo or turn 8 with blizzard . 

Iceblock can give you the turns you need to spend the mana to finish your combo. (For example, Use Iceblock, Fireball, iCeblast, icelance) and you'll be safe from any dmg from your enemy because of the iceblock (unless you are fatigued) then next turn pyroblast or something like that to finish him off.

you can play around doomsayer, you cannot however play around ice block. ice block>doomsayer. But yes you kind of need doomsayer.

Without it you're relying on nova to delay the game until you can (hopefully) clear the board with fs/blizzard. put in another flamestrike for the doomsayer and a cone of cold. This might work as a substitute until you can get the needed cards.

What do you think about replacing Novice Engineer with Unstable Ghoul? I'm going to try this out. You do lose that extra card draw, but it could help gain more control ver zoo decks. There's already a ton of control in this deck, but a little more couldn't hurt. 

Update: so far so good. I just won 3 straight withthis switch. As expected unstable ghoul devistates early zoolock board. Definitely feel better off with this rather than Novice Engineer. 

The idea of the deck is to delay their minions from attacking you while you cycle your deck to draw damage and Alexstraza. You do not want to waste any of your burn on minions, unless you are in a matchup against a class with little to no healing such as Shaman. Even then, you need to be VERY picky on what you use your burn on.

A lot of it is luck of the draw, but knowing when to play certain cards makes a huge impact on the outcome of the game.
