This deck is aimed at players who have finished LoE on normal, but have very basic cards and are struggling to kill scarvash. A.K.A: me, until I came up with this, that is. As so, we will only be using cards from the Adventure itself, plus just a few more Common cards. Flame Juggler and Armorsmith are included, but they are not necessary, so if you don't have them, just swap the out with other 2 and 4-drops.
Strategy: Your main strategy will be your mulligan: You need a Fiery War Axe on Turn 2, and an Eerie Statue on T4. Why? because you need to take out the 3 health Trogg that Scarvash has in order to reduce damage. He will attack anything on the board as long as he doesn't have lethal, so the Eerie Statue will take out at least 2-3 minions when it is played, (hopefully) clearing the board and allowing you to stabilise and launch a deadly counter-attack.
From turn 5 onwards, play as you would normally, taking out his minions efficiently with spells (I like to use Inner Rage + Execute to deal with his biggest minions) and weapons alike, while developing your board. Your Obsidian Destroyer will play a key role in this, as it will allow you to starve off face damage by generating taunts every turn. This is important because the damage you took in the first few turns plus the damege you WILL take from using your weapon on his minions will put you very low (I finished the fight with about 9HP and a couple of Armor Points). Thankfully, our Hero Power is Armor Up!, which should help in that regard. I only put in a few taunts in the form of Lord of the Arena and Dread Corsair as this a pretty basic deck, but if you pulled a couple of Taunt minions from packs, you can swap them in. Your end game will consist of picking apart every single minion he still plays, and hopefully finishing him off with buffs from Stormwind Champion or Rafaam and his Lantern of Power.
Obviously, this deck requires some luck, (I mean c'mon this is Hearthstone we're talking about here) as you NEED to pull both the War Axe and the Eerie Statue in order to stabilise and begin fighting back. Sometimes that alone will not be enough, as Scarvash could pull 2 tunnel troggs early on and use Confuse to swap their attack and health, putting you on very low HP. Even if you manage to take the board, you might still die to something like Crackle or Starfire (Yes, he has cards from multiple classes).
In the end though, this is probably the best way a F2P can go about doing this fight reliably. Once I came up with this deck it took me about half a dozen tries to do it, and then another half a dozen tries or so to make sure my win wasn't just a One-Time-wonder. So hopefully you'll also take him out quickly.
Thanks for stopping by, and let me know if you have success with the deck or any suggestions you might want to make in order to cheapen the deck further or simply better it in any way.
I dont know why this solution doesn't work for me. The Scarvash on my computer skips Erie Statue completely. He just goes face.
Even when it was your only minion? I've heard it may not work if it isn't. Other than that, I don't know what to tell ya. Scarvash ALWAYS attacked my statue regardless. It's why I made the deck in the first place; I was surprised the AI was so stupid. Maybe Blizzard took notice and patched it? I will remake the deck and try again to see what happens. Mind you, the deck still is viable even without the Statue as others have pointed out. The Obsidian Destroyer is also an essential draw and should be played as soon as possible.
beat him with this deck, finally. didn't get an eerie statue but decided to play through and gutted out the win.
Nice work, glad you found it useful! It's strange, the Statue was such a huge part in my win against him, but it looks like for most people the key cards were the War Axe and the Obsidian Destroyer.
Finally beat Scarvash with this deck of all things. XD Thank you, man. I didn't have the old GvG stuff that a lot of the Scarvash decks out there used, so this really helped. Also like people have been saying, the eerie statue didn't work for me the first game I played it, so I added another Dread Corsair and some Sen'jins. Once you mulligan the fiery war axe and clear out the first two minions, it becomes easy sailing if you have the right draws (he played confuse after I cleared the 3 health trogg and made it an easy trade into the swapped 3/5 trogg).
Just beat this boss with this deck. There were 2 cards that were critical to victory - Fiery War Axe before turn 2, and Obsidian Destroyer when he only has 1 minion on the board. I ended up getting both Fiery War Axes in my mulligan and rode them both straight to board control. The Obsidian Destroyer allowed me to finally deal with all his minions as he played them, and slowly whittle away his Health until victory. The other spells/minions that I played didn't matter much, just stuck to curve and tried to play it smart.
A side-mention on the Eerie Statue, it worked great for me. I tried a few times without getting the FWA in my mulligan and when the Eerie statue was my only minion, it did its job flawlessly and helped clear Scarvash's board. I think it needs to be the only minion on the board for the AI to consider it a threat, though.
You're right on the Eerie Statue part. He's gonna prioritize minions that can actually attack lol. But of course, you'd never play a statue when you already have minions on the board. Glad you could do it! Hope it didn't take too long.
Tried this deck. The Eerie Statue thing is false. He attacked face every time I played it and he never had lethal at those times.
Truly? Awkward. Ever since WOG came out all the bosses have always tried clearing your board (because of the Animated Armor glitch) so they always kill the statue when i play it. Not just Scarvash aswell, every single heroic boss attacks it. Well, I dunno what to tell ya. This is the only reasonably reliable way I found to beat Scarvash. Maybe you could try reloading and coming back to the fight later on? I'd really appreciate the feedback.
Alternatively, you could try building a mage deck that has Animated Armor in it since your boss seems to always go face. Maybe he'll disregard it?
Yes sir, truly. I have been trying to beat this boss for over a month. I tried every deck I can build without having to craft a Doomsayer. I finally beat him shortly after my initial post with a Reno C'thun Druid deck.
I see. Well, I'm glad you finally got through it without having to waste 400 dust. I know how big of a an amount that is to us F2Ps. And sorry for not being much help. A Reno C'thun deck is quite creative. You could probably use that on a couple of other bosses. Steel Sentinel comes to mind.
