PHILOSOPHY

If you are trying to kill Rend Blackhand after "24.04.16 Classic Nerfs" patch, you will notice some highly rated decks do not working smoothly. Some needs insane draw luck, some losts its key cards via nerfs, some is unnecessarily and extremely expensive. After spending 2 days for those and questioned myself, a light bulb has appered on my head. Why should i need a fat taunt feeded by a priest spells if AI is scared of any taunt supported by Kel'Thuzad? Why should i wait to play KT until turn 8 or more? Why pesky thief Priest? Main problem was that how we could stay alive while a lunatic boss maniacally attacking us. If you ask this question to a beginner player, he will definetely say, "Put more taunts in your deck". Yes, human kind sometimes cannot see the obvious answer which sits in front of the eyes. So, long story short, this deck is builded on the idea "How can i abuse Kel'thuzad more?".


 

PROOF OF KILL



 

STRATEGY

Since we need a taunt + Kel'thuzad combo without the fear of losing KT for a removal spell thrown by Rend, druid is the most suitable class due to mana control abilities. So we need:

- A taunt to scare AI
- Kel'Thuzad- 2 more legendary to be bait for Rend's 1 mana "Kill a legendary minion" spell
- More and more taunts to stay alive until taunt + KT combo
- Mana manipulative cards
- Some removal spells

Purpose is obvious, stay alive until you're able to put KT + any taunt. Strategy is simple, play on the curve, use removals, use mana abilities. You will want to play the combo as soon as possible. In order to do that, you need to play Wild Growth and Grove Tender before combo turn. Innervate is another mana card in the deck, save it until the combo, if you are not forced to use it.

Notice that, I included a lot of taunts to the deck. The reason is, the pressure applied by boss will not be similar to what you see before. Even if you play on curve with non-taunt minions, AI will overwhelm you. That's why I included so many taunts. It will stall the game for a while. Use them. Let those heroes sacrifice their lives for the greater good, ahem, for your health.

Addition to the taunts, I added some removal spells. Againist such a brutal psychopath enemy, we need them. Even with spells + taunts, it is hard to stay alive so long. Kobold Geomancer is a low mana spell damage card, it will be helpful here.

There is a big threat for our KT + taunt gang. Rend has a 1-mana spell which can destroy a legendary minion instantly. In order to eliminate that threat, I have included Sylvanas and Emperor Thaurissan. Sylvanas will steal an enemy minion for you. Emperor will reduce your cards mana value, hopefully Kel'thuzad's too. You need to play them before you play the combo, of course.

Finally, after you eliminate that legendary removal threat and reach enough mana to play the combo, just play any taunt  + KT himself. I personally used Annoy-o-Tron, you can use Target Dummy if you want, no matters. You can play Innervate to reach required mana level, if you are not in yet. Don't be scared of Rend's board, he will just stop and wait until his death. After you play combo, you can do what you want. You can torture him by attacking hero power only if you want. My suggestion, totaly ignore his board completely unless he has a taunt.

REPLACEMENTS

  • You cannot replace Kel'Thuzad, sorry.
  • You should not replace Grove Tender. You may think about Darnassus Aspirants but notice that their deathrattle. You can't keep them alive probably.
  • Sylvanas and Emperor Thaurissan are helpful, but not keycards. Just include 2 mid-mana legendary, and pray for them to bait kill spell.
  • Doomsayer is helping to clear board but Rend has always enough minions to kill him.
  • You can change spells other than Wild Growth and you can change any minions other than written above.
