Howdy, all! Thanks for checking out my deck! I am Andy, been playing since Season 2 and I love to try out new things. I haven't made it to Legend, I don't try to really, but I do like making unique and successful decks.

The N'Zoth Mage doesn't have a Tirion Fordring or Museum Curator / Shifting Shade like Paladins or Priests. We're limited on our survivability compared to the other two classes as well. Luckily, Mages have Ice Block. Unfortunately, Wild has Eater of Secrets. So we introduce Duplicate to solve both of these problems. (Most players only play 1 Eater of Secrets. If so, they might eat a Duplicate and not our Ice Blocks)  People are playing two Eater of Secrets now... :/ I guess we just hope we can overwhelm them. ^-^

Deathrattles for N'Zoth:

So the goal here is to Duplicate any of the heavier minions for a large N'Zoth, the Corruptor reanimate. Deathlord and Sludges are good against aggressive or fast midrange decks, while any of 6 drops should be the primary duplicate target.

With two Fireballs, Forgotten Torches, and Frostbolts, reanimating Bloodmage Thalnos isn't a bad thing either. Our only bad reanimate target is Mad Scientist, so be wary when playing the 2nd during the mid / late game.

Mulligan:

Search for Mad Scientist and Frostbolt. Acolyte of Pain is fine as well. Deathlord is a keep. Tuck away any Secrets in your hand in hopes for finding Mad Scientist. If you have Mad Scientist and you have the Coin, keep one of the targets: Belcher, Cairne, Sky Golem or Sylvanas. If you don't have Coin, tuck them instead. Elise Starseeker can be a keep, unless you're sure the opponent is going to be really fast. If you have Coin with Elise, you're good.

Against Priests or Warriors, you're able to keep Fireball and Sludge Belcher. You could tuck Deathlord when facing these guys, unless Polymorph is in your hand. Definitely try to keep a Elise Starseeker against these two. Be wary that Warrior may not be control, and might be Patron, but I always mulligan as if it was Control Warrior, because our deck can naturally take care of Patron.

Other Notes:

  • Don't play other minions if you have a Duplicate. The only cards we want to duplicate are Sludge Belcher, Carine Bloodhoof, Piloted Sky Golem, or Sylvanas.
  • Keep track of the Mad Scientist too. You should always be playing a Mad Scientist each game. He will most likely be reanimated from N'Zoth. Think about when to play your second Mad Scientist, as to not have them interfere with N'Zoth's reanimate. If we have 3 Sylvanas, 1 Scientist, 2 Belchers all dead, and we play another Scientist, then we may lose a Sylvanas or Belcher to the RNG of the 2nd Scientist.
  • Trying to Duplciate N'Zoth is difficult, but possible. This is where the light shines in the far distance. If we can get N'Zoth duplicated, via Mad Scientist which N'Zoth summoned, or us drawing Duplicate, we're able to pressure the opponent, force them to make the disgusting trades, and then when we have to seal the deal, we remove the board 90%, leaving behind a single, weak N'Zoth and play the second duplicate. If the opponent tries to kill the weakened N'Zoth, to end our pressure, then we practically win the game. Don't plan on this! It is perfectly fine to use both duplicates on any of the 6 drops or taunts and then N'Zoth them all, or to play duplicate after N'Zoth hits the board because most of the reanimated targets are perfect to Duplicate.
  • You can find lethal with spells. This is why Duplicating Belcher isn't bad. I've won games with N'Zoth reanimating 1 Mad Scientist and 3 Belchers. Having that essential 9 / 15 worth of taunt, turning into 3 / 6 worth of taunt. Along with the chance of finding a secret off the Scientist, the opponent's health drops pretty quickly. FireballFrostbolt, Fireblast. Roaring Torch, Forgotten Torch, Fireball. Many spell outs in this deck.
  • Elise Starseeker can be duplicated. The reason why I run two Duplicates, not just to make Mad Scientist more likely to grab it, but also because I can "throw" one of them away. I can chuck a Doomsayer with a Duplicate against an aggro deck, and I can place Elise under a Duplicate against a control deck. With 3 Elises (Elis-i?) shuffling Maps into my deck, I found the Golden Monkey on turn 11! Calculate Golden Monkey probability and don't play Draw late game because they can turn into legendaries.

 Last but not least:

I have no clue what I'm doing. I don't normally make successful decks, and when I do, I don't usually post them (because I'm not good at making write ups). I appreciate all the help I can get.

As you can expect from above, I'll be consistently changing and updating the deck, but I'm not sure how consistent I'll be on updating this Hearthpwn deck because, well, I'm lazy. So bear with me.

If you enjoy the deck, or one day it becomes successful, please give me a +1! Thanks for reading!

CHANGE LOG:

Original deck was doing ok. 3-4 (Don't remember matchups). I know, not enough to gather success rate, but I'm constantly testing different interactions, so there'll be alot of changes.

Change #1 - June 1, 2016:

-2 Ice Barrier | +2 Deathlord
-1 Frostbolt | +1 Polymorph
Not sure if this was the right cards to change, but I value Fireball and Roaring Torch vs Control Matchup, so Frostbolt was the weakest damage spell. Ice Barriers swapped out for Deathlords per suggestion from from ryshotex >>

So far I have defeated one Face Shaman and lost twice against Secret Paladin (One was N'Zoth SP, the other was a faster SP).

Change #2 - June 1, 2016:

-1 Blizzard | +1 Elise Starseeker
This probably isn't the right card to remove for Elise, but I wasn't sure what else to take out. Is there something I'm overvaluing in this deck?

Currently 1W2L with this variation as well. 1 win was against a tempo mage. Played the normal N'Zoth route. One of the losses was vs a Renolock, where I did manage to duplicate Elise Starseeker and get the Golden Monkey to transform 21 cards in my deck&hand, but by then my health was too low. I was able to play both iceblocks before Monkey, and lived for 3 turns with legendaries, but nothing good enough to put substantial pressure. He had better value. Another loss was to a Zoo deck where I did draw Elise instead of a Blizzard, which could've saved me that game. Shame.

Change #3 - June 1, 2016:

-1 Frost Nova | +1 Blizzard
-1 Doomsayer | +1 Frostbolt
These two have been too inconsistent. I've only gotten them together once in the past 10 games, and I didn't need them. I'm putting back in the two cards I didn't want to remove. Blizzard is a weaker version of both the cards combined, so I'll drop the power level, add the consistency, and make room for Frostbolt to be added.

I think these changes are working. I am 1w1L right now, just barely lost vs Reno Freeze Mage and I won against what seemed to be an aggressive Secret Hunter (Duplicated Sludge Belcher. He couldn't get through).

No changes - June 5, 2016:

2 victories against a tempo C'Thun Warrior and a Greedy Control C'Thun Warrior.

Change #4 - June 9, 2016:

-1 Deathlord | +1 Piloted Sky Golem
Faced more control decks where Deathlord didn't do well and a Piloted Sky Golem was notably stronger.

Went off decently well with 2w1L, the loss against a Dragon Priest and the Win against a Demonlock using Dreadsteed and a C'Thun Priest with some dragon synergy splashed in. Not sure if this deck does good against those janky hand-brew decks or if it's actually decent... :P

Played 6 more games - went 3W3L. Victory vs Budget Zoo (he had Frostwolf Warlord...) and two Tempo Mages, both playing normal stuff. Loss against two Totem Shamans and one Mech Mage - I never drew either Blizzard or Flamestrikes. Not sure if I should add another AOE / Freeze... Another Flamestrike? Cone of Cold or Frost Nova could be playable too...

Everything helps!
