Hey, all!
This is the hunter deck I used to reach top 10 legend in Mid Season May.
It's somewhat of a straight forward build, but I left out cards like grub, and deadly shot, which you can tech back in according to the meta.
If there's enough interest, I'll write up a guide and talk about my choices.
Good luck!
Just some personal milestones to show the deck is viable:
Top decked that good kill command to seal the deal. It's hearthstone
Great deck. My version runs a couple of other techs like Kodo to remove the 2/6 taunts from warriors and Imp Gang Boss
Also (2) Deadly Shot Seems much stronger than Hunter's Mark. Hunters need to get on the board and hunter's mark allows you to trade a minion for a stronger one. You don't really want to trade, just to kill it and keep your minion on board.
I have a few stuff like Snake Trap and a Scavenging Hyena instead of one of the Huge Toad because I think it can easily become a threat later in the game and is able to bait a removal or win some time for you to put your big creatures in the game.
I don't have any trouble with Zoolocks, for me they are easy to deal with if you just remove the right cards at the right time. Also remember to push face damage so he can't just keep buying cards and don't let them flood the board. For example, if you have coin in turn two, you can push for Huffer on Animal Companion and then just go face and force him to trade. Trading there won't do anything because they can always do 2 damage. They will just replace whatever they have on board anyway.
Against Shaman you probably will have a bad time. Aggro Shaman is kind of the counter of this deck. Hunter doesn't have reliable AoE, Explosive trap is very easy to predict and it doesn't matter if you deal 2 AoE damage since he will test for it and then summon his minions. The real Shaman threats are over 3/4 mana, but Freezing Trap won't help either, since he will just attack with a 1 drop and then summon a 7/7 for 4 mana. On this match up what you want is to play control, remove what you can, bait him to trade minions and lategame hope you get the cards you need to turn the game around.
It's okay though, you lose to most aggro shamans, but you should win against any warrior, druid and mage out there. Win at least the games against Warlock and you are sure to climb.
Hi, do you think its still possible to get legend with this deck? Because im thinking of crafting princess huhuran since its the only card im missing to build it and it seems rly fun for me. Greets
dont craftthat card, i honeslty think is bad, doesnt give u that much value and te enemy always clear ur higmane and sylvanas... even if higmane survive 2 2/2s is not that great... and the combo with sylvanas is very hard to do... card is bad... trust me
I see. Well yea now when i think about it, what u said sounds logical.. Ty
Btw, i cant understand why you are using 2x freezing trap in this deck. This season im playing another midrange hunter deck with 1x freezing trap and achieved rank 5 in standard so far with it, but now i dropped off even the one freezing trap, because i finally realized now its the worst secret ever for the current meta. I really cant remember when it was any useful for me the last time. Everytime im playing it EVERYONE is aware of the fact that it can only be freezing trap because its the only secret every midrange hunter is still using and playing around it. Or the second case, i got freezing trap on my hand but cant make any use of it because the enemy got more then 1 minion on the board including atleast 1 weak one which he would let attack first, or the third case, i would only give him another strong battlecry when im playing it. Also totally useless against zoolocks, grommash, ragnaros and so on.. Im just using 2x deadly shot instead because overall its just way more effective imo.
Use tracking instead then ! card is awesome, i a good first turn play, and in late game it makes your game more consistent ! isreally really good, im a legend player but this season i am stucked in rank 4 :/ with mid range hunter, and u are right about freezing trap, is totally useless, i am using one at the moment but maybe i will but explosive trap instead, is really good vs zoos and shamans hehe
2x Deadly Shot is amazing.
Especially if you need to kill big things with Divine Shield or on-taking damage effects. Cheap, strong removal and great to remove those pesky big taunts for face damage.
Huhuran is actually a great value, but this deck runs better for me if I remove sylvanas and add an explosive shot. Huhuran combos great with not only the wolves and highmanes, but also things like loot border for a free card, fiery bat for 1 rng shot in the dark when you need it, or my fav twilight summoner. He gets ignored most of the time he's dropped ;)
Any replacement for Quick Shot?
Is there anything i could use to replace Princess Huhuran
Stranglethorn Tiger and Stampeding Kodo are reliable choices.
shamans are rough for sure, but if you can get ahead on board, then you should be able to hang on.
Don't be afraid to freezer trap their totem golems, but make sure that you are mulling for Fiery Bat, as well as your 2 drops, including quick shot. Animal companion is great because it battles well with a lot of their early minions, like totem golem (totem golem is rough to deal with)
the bow is also not a terrible keep, cause it kills the 1/3 and the 2/3 taunts.
I admit, if they drop the 7/7 in a bad spot, things get hard, but I would either save your hunter's mark for it, so press board and ignore it. This deck can close out games fast, so it's not so bad.
Overall do your best to control their early board, and avoid running your highmane into hex if u can. Shamans will get hex happy on a good Tundra Wolf
Same for me. I really have trouble with these aggro shamans. Always stopping me from getting a win streak. Got from rank 20 to rank 14 with this deck.
I dont have Sylvanas Windrunner or Princess Huhuran but subbed in a Stampeding Kodo/card] and a [card]Flame Juggler. Also, how do you feel about Doomsayer to help with aggro?
I messed up tagging the cards (first time commenting) and it wont let me edit but you guys get the picture.
Thanks, but i don't think the doomsayer is very good in this deck because this deck is kinda aggro
What are some non-legendary replacements for princess and sylvanis
Does Sylvana need to be in this deck? Any replacements? TBK ok? Or should I dust him for 1600 dust because he's golden for SYlvanas
Will try with shot or grub
I replaced Princess Huhuran with Harrison Jones since i don't have her, i have gone 13/4 since doing so at rank 8. If you dont have princess huhuran i think harrison is one of the best replacements.
Really fun deck i replaced princess with N'Zoth. At this time i haven't lost
