Then could we cut a Soulfire instead to cram in Sylvanas?
That would solve the occasional problem of having two Soulfires in your hand at the same time, right?
And if you still have a Doomguard in your hand in the late game (assuming that you ran out of Voidcallers summoning your other fatty demons or an unbuffed Void Terror), you certainly don't want Doomguard and Soulfire in the same hand (because playing one would probably discard the other). Cutting off one Soulfire minimizes the probability of this sticky situation from happening, right?
Definitely do not cut Soulfire, it's one of the best cards in the entire game. 0 mana for 4 damage is absolutely hideously broken. Even though you lose a random card you can avoid its costs relatively easily by just curving out efficiently (something this deck does rather easily). If you really truly must play Sylvanas I'd either cut Pit Lord / Illidan (Dread Infernal) / 1 Defender of Argus. I don't know if its necessary though, but try it out if you want and let me know how the testing goes.
Nah, Doomguard is better most of the time. He's easily the best card to cheat in to play off of Voidcaller. You can use Dread Infernal over Illidan though if you don't have Illidan as they function very similarly.
I'm using Baron Rivendare instead of Pit Lord.
I have to ask why? There's only 4 minions with Deathrattle in the entire list? Is it because you don't have a Pit Lord?
Pit Lord is terrible if you can't caste him via Voidcaller. You have 4 opportunities a game to pull off a double death rattle, that's plenty. It's also a nice target for Void Terror, like a slightly underwhelming blessing of kings.
Baron Rivendare is worse than Mogushan Warden unless you're able to slam it down on a turn when you either activate an egg or voidcaller. In the case of Voidcaller you also need to make sure you have a second demon for it to fling out. I'm not saying the card is terrible when you get it to work, but it seems a tad inconsistent. Pit Lord at least is very strong against control decks, can be cheated in to play, can be tutored via Sense Demons to be even more easily cheated in to play, and can ramp you in to playable molten giants for tremendous tempo in the late game. I'll try it out if you swear by its efficacy but I'm not entirely sure which card to remove for it.
Goodbye Buzzard in next patch will help
Yeah there's really nothing you can do about hunter, it's a terrible matchup. Just be thankful that they're being nerfed and therefore you wont have to worry about facing them as frequently on the ladder. :)
Really enjoying this deck. Don't have Pit Lord or Illidan so I'm running 2xInfernal. Although I'd probably run Infernal instead of Pit Lord even if I had one, it's a better Voidcaller target and the Whirlwind battlecry can be very useful if you have to play it manually. I'm not sure the 2 mana cheaper Pit Lord is worth it's downside / smaller stats?
Another awesome combo is Power Overwhelming with Void Terror. The Void Terror keeps the 4/4 buff from the target card, without the disadvantage of dying at the end of the turn. It's basically a 1mana Blessing of Kings. Works amazingly well with Eggs (4/6, smash into something - Void Terror it for a 4/4 and a 7/9).
(There's a typo in your opening paragraph btw, you've got Voidwalker listed instead of Voidcaller.)
One of the reasons that Pit Lord is probably better than Dread Infernal is that you CAN play it on turn 4 or 3 with the coin. If you don't draw Voidcaller you really want to be at least playing something hefty against most decks. Granted he's bad agains hunter and zoo, but against most of the slower decks he's a very solid turn 4 play that can easily punch through early game defenses and score you a 2-for-1 trade. As for the Power Overwhelming combo, I thought it was so obvious I didn't talk about it, but I'll probably edit it in somewhere now that you mention it, even though if you trade the PO'd minion in to something you don't get the full value off of the spell in terms of boost to Attack and Health on the Voidterror. I'll also fix the typo X_X
But thanks for your comment and I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the deck! :D
After playing the deck some more I can see what you mean about Pit Lord. Most of the games I lose are because of bad card draws at the start. Wish I could justify crafting him and/or Illidan, but since they see so little play in other decks it's unlikely I'll get the spare dust for a long time :(.
Love this deck! It's so much fun to play. I recently faced a deck that utilized Stalagg and Feugen in a similar version of this deck and it worked quite well for him. I was wondering what your thoughts were on these two cards in this deck, and if you were going to use them for play testing which cards would you take out for them?
Firstly, I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying playing with the deck and your comment is greatly appreciated! I have tried out Feugen and Stalagg in place of Loatheb and Lord Jaraxxus since they fulfill similar rolls of either being a 5 drop or being your main endgame threat (in the case of the second one dying and spawning [card[Thaddius[/card]). However I personally was underwhelmed with their performance, as I have been in pretty much every deck I've tried them out in. They're really mediocre on their own and often paying 5 mana for what's either essentially Core Hound or Chillwind Yeti with Power Word: Shield's buff is hardly worth it and you only get your effect should your opponent not be able to silence / Polymorph / Hex the second one of the pair. The main issue I have with them is that they're only really good against late game control decks like Warrior and Paladin, only one of which is common on the ladder, as the effect you gain from the zombified Wonder Twins is only relevant when you expect to draw far enough in to your deck to actually see both copies and have the opportunity to play both safely without getting too far behind on board. This current deck list is actually at its best against late game control decks already being a fast and powerful midrange deck it can usually play more efficient threats than your opponent can deal with so you can pressure them before they can stabilize, since the minions your playing pack more punch than your lower curve aggro decks like Zoo or even Midrange Hunter (which is basically face hunter with a pair of Savannah Highmanes and Houndmasters in place of some low drops). This means that your best matchups are what you'd want to have Feugen and Stalagg in, so rather than add two cards to make those matchups better than they already are, I prefer running Loatheb and Lord Jaraxxus since they're both great options against the decks less good matchups like Hunter and Zoo. Loatheb lets you get far ahead on board by essentially time walking your opponent during key turns when they want to play important spells on curve, and Lord Jaraxxus can climb you back in to the game against zoo should you be low on health and have stabilized and can also be thrown in to play with Voidcaller so you can taunt it up to create an insurmountable wall for the zoo player.
Sorry for the long-winded response I hope it's thorough! :)
Greatly appreciate your response, and your thoroughness! Your reasoning is definitely sound in regards to adding Feugen and Stalagg. I too did some play testing, taking out similar cards, and to no avail. It hurt my win percentage. Thanks again for sharing this deck!
I don't have Jaraxxus yet, so I've been running Kel'Thuzad. He fits really well into the deck. Shadowflame, trading giant minions, power overwhelming, Void Terror...it's a ton of fun and I recommend trying it! (In place of whatever, not necessarily Jaraxxus).
I can actually see Kel'Thuzad doing some decent work in here now that you mention it. It's something I'll certainly have to try out myself. I don't know if it's better than Jaraxxus but it's certainly worth testing! Thanks for the suggestion.
Honestly the win percentage depends mostly on what decks are common at your current rank. If all you're facing is Zoo and Hunter then you'll probably have a hard time, but once you reach the higher ranks where you start to see a lot more Warrior and Midrange Priest the deck becomes a much more solid choice as those decks don't have much in the way of access to silence and their removal options for large single target threats are less plentiful and conditional, also terribly inefficient at dealing with Voidcaller.
Honestly though the deck does have a bit of a steep learning curve and you won't really start to get an accurate representation of a win percentages until you've played at least 30 games against each matchup, so either stick with it if you find the deck fun enough, or switch to a more adept deck for taking on your ranks metagame.
im seeing a lot of face hunters at my rank and i put in 2 demonfires and took out one power overwhelming and illidan (i dont have one to begin with). seems to be effective to clear that one extra beast and still kinda works with the void caller / void terror combo. also can activate an egg in case of emergencies haha
Dread Infernal is a relatively decent substitute who can sometimes do work against Hunter and Zoo with it's battlecry. Personally I prefer Illidan for its ability to close out control matches because those are more common at my current rank.
