TIPS ON HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR GAMEPLAY:
UPDATE: This got to Rank 1 of Hot in just a few hours, thanks to you guys. This is by far the best deck to climb right now and I actually haven't lost a game with it since I created this guide ramping it from a 80% to a 84%. I'm quite sure this deck can stand at a 65% winrate in competitive play.
This is the current version of the Totem Shaman, which turned out to be far superior to other shaman decks that run Flamewreathed Faceless
Pro-Player Xixo played a variation of this deck at dreamhack and the legend player Loyan created the archetype for this deck.
It's super easy to climb with this as it can be super aggressive and you can win by turn 6 easily. It seems like Priest is actually it's worst matchup and you don't see those often on ladder.
Card Explanation:
I made this video real quick explaining how and in which combination to use the cards. It's a card guide and nothing more, but I hope you still enjoy it. Full gameplay and explanation is coming soon.
MULLIGAN:
In general you want to mulligan for your early game.
Argent Squire, Tunnel Trogg, Flame Juggler, Totem Golem, Tuskarr Totemic
As you can see there are ALOT of cards you can mulligan for, so you usually start with a good hand. There are a few decks where you want to keep specific cards in your hand to counter the opponnent sooner or later.
vs. SHAMAN
Keep Lightning Bolt or Rockbiter Weapon + your early game cards. You can also keep a Hex instead and use it on their Dr.4 aka. Flamewreathed Faceless once they play it, putting them in a huge disadvantage.
vs. WARLOCK
Keep Lightning Storm or Tunnel Trogg + Lightning Bolt most of the warlocks are Zoo and a well timed Lightning Storm just fucks em over, but be careful not to use it too early, or they'll just fill the board again. Trogg + Lightning Bolt destroys their turn one Voidwalker and challenges any of their 2 drops without dying itself.
vs. WARRIOR
Nothing special to keep, except Harrison Jones IF you techd him in. Just look for your early game and try to accelerate before the warrior gets too much armor or board control.
REPLACEMENTS:
There aren't alot of replacements to be honest. NO YOU CAN'T REPLACE Tunnel Trogg!
You can replace Lightning Storm or Feral Spirit or Argent Squire for a Flamewreathed Faceless and Harrison Jones
VIDEOS MADE OF THIS DECK:
This deck is absolutely insane. Prefer the version with flamewreath. If it stays up 2 turns, you bloodlust instakill. Haven't lost yet
warrior is so hard to deal with
I feel Flame Juggler is a weak link in this deck, here are some ideas for replacements:
And some non-2 mana replacements:
I'm thinking Acidic Swamp Ooze because warrior weapons can be so annoying in my meta, but also Knife Juggler. ..but I do love Mad Bomber. :) Any thoughts?
After a few more games, I realize Flame Juggler is good at times, perhaps it just feels like it miss on purpose sometimes. :)
Would you mind explaining what Argent Squire brings to the deck(other than sticky for Bloodlust)? Wouldn't some of these minions be better for 1 mana?
8 win streak is my record with this deck as we speak, from rank 18 to rank 13 on EU in 1 hour.
Background: I am a very fresh player(1 month old), tried first with a shockadin deck, found that C'Thun decks usually killed me. Thought that if I can't beat 'em, join 'em. Made a Druid C'Thun ramp deck, had somewhat success, but after 3 Shaman loss streak, I decided again to join 'em. With this Shaman deck I skyrocketed from best ever rank 17 to rank 13. It took me a few practice games to learn Shammy, from level 11 to 16 was mostly a steep learning curve with both this deck and shammy, but then the wins started to roll in.
Thanks :)
Got first time legend with deck. My stats from rank 6 to legend is 95-58 (62%).
My changes in this deck
-2[card]Flame Juggler[/card]
- [card]Argent Squire[/card]
+ Flamewreathed Faceless
Hammer of Twilight
Al'Akir the Windlord
I got from rank 18 to 12 with the original deck, now I am a bit stuck.
Would you add [card]Elemental Destruction[/card]?
I will try your adjustment first, but wondering if elemental destruction would be any good.
I struggle mostly vs Priests any tips?
ok thanks for your response!
No, even when you got unlucky with [card]Lightning Storm[/card] this card is still better than [card]Elemental Destruction[/card], because you always want to keep your board and you dont have any cards to unlock your mana crystals.
I dont really remember priests on rank 6-legend, but the main thing you should always keep in mind - try to play around Excavated Evil and Holy Nova.
And try to play more tempo, but don't forget to count your mana.
sry for my english, im just learning. and good luck, because luck is really impartant for this deck.
I started 0 - 2, dropped the Argent Squire's and Doomhammer for Bloodmage Thalnos, Sylvanas, and Ragnaros, proceeded to go 14 - 4. Loving this deck so far.
Created an account just to say how shitty this deck is. 0-10. And yes I mulligan'd for exactly what was told for and did proper trading and still lost. Not only were they losses, they were horrible landslide losses. This deck is cancer, please give it chemo.
Cannot imagine how you fail at this deck.
I've gotten from rank 8 to 4 in a couple hours.
Well I don't think it's the deck that has a problem. It's more likely that your brain doesn't have the sufficient brain power. You're a lost cause I'm afraid. :)
If you vs another shaman and he gets the early drops before you, it gets difficult.
Just started using the deck and I stand at 4 wins and 1 loss against zoolock who double topdecked soulfires for the win.
This seems to have trouble against hunters, since taunts seem to just stop this deck in its tracks. Maybe Earth Shock might be good to get through defenses?
Do you buff it?
Swapped in a Garrison Commander for one of the Argent Squire. I've found it to be incredibly fun if they leave up the Thunder Bluff Valiant
Stagnates around rank 10.
Not trying to be mean or anything but are you mulligan for your early game? are you making efficient trades? are you thinking about how to make the best use of your mana per turn and also being mindful of your overload and how its going to effect your next turn? I think you need to make sure you getting the basics down. Heres a helpful link, he explains a lot of useful info https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwqEiC8iTRM
