The inspiration from this deck comes from Garra's Dreamhack Warlock deck and marijuana.(deck here: http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/48045-dreamhack-bucharest-2014-gaaras-nr-1-w1)
I was testing out the deck and made a bunch of changes because of the Druid in the meta-game when I was surprised at how well the deck flows. I didn't feel like blood knight was reliable enough for me because it either made you skip your argent squire to get the 6/6 blood knight early in the game or play it and not be able to get the 6/6. I cut out the divine shield element and decided to play Void Terrors. I then realized how well a lot of the cards synergized and built the deck around a few combinations. I'll list them down below:
Power Overwhelming+Shadowflame(preferably on the watchers)=instant board clear
Power Overwhelming+Ironbeak Owl=minion doesn't die. It can also heal the minion as well
Power Overwhelming+Void Terror=big ass void terror and you would lose the minion anyways
Flame Imp+Molten Giant=Molten Giant 2 less mana
Ancient Watcher+Ironbeak Owl=aww yeah
Ancient Watcher+Void Terror=helll yeah
Leeroy Jenkins+Power Overwhelming=gg
Everything else seems pretty much standard stuff. Here are some things to keep in mind:
Use your Molten Giant's before Jarraxxus. This is because Jarraxxus starts out at 15 health instead of 30, meaning that he will never be free to use after you play Jarraxxus.
Save your Siphon Soul for something important. It's only 1 of 3 cards that can heal in this deck and wasting it on a Cairne doesn't seem smart to me.
I feel that everything is necessary in this deck in my opinion. Having 2 Owl's, Void Terrors, Power Overwhelmings, etc. have such great synergy with each other that I have a hard time cutting anything. I also want this to be strong in the early game so I made sure to have enough early minions. I may just have some tunnel vision so feel free to adapt it and get back to me.
Matchups: In my opinion this doesn't really have any "bad" matchups but there are some situations that you get unlucky with your cards and your opponent has all the right cards. I don't want to spread false information because I haven't played this deck for an extended period of time but feel free to ask about matchups in the comments and I'll try to help.
edit: this seems to get rolled by face hunter(good nerf timing though blizz) and I've been crushing handlock
Im pretty sure you made this deck when you played against me. lol. jk
I made this exact deck several days ago before seeing this post, except I have no idea why you put elven archer and argent squire in it. Its good in theory, and I have tested around a dozen variations of this deck but handlock is still superior to this deck unfortunately. But I agree ancient watcher, power over whelming, and void terror have some great potential.. Not counting all of the other combos like shadow flame with ancient watchers or power over whelming ect..
This deck has potential but needs some kind of tweaking to be equal or better than handlock.
and to whoever said to much combo just to have it destroyed by a hunter's destroy rando minion or any other easy removal (Silence) thats fine because you still get use out of the power overwhelming half of the time before you do the void terror. And then you have other giants for after they use removal on your ancient watchers, void terrors, ect.
Making plays to get one big minion, which will get 'randomly' shot by huntermeta.
I approve. Haven't tried it but it looks fun and will definitely confuse an opponent as to what they are playing. I think I would drop Argent Squire and Elven Archer for another Siphon Soul and Sylvanas Windrunner or Hellfire. I think 4 effective one drops are enough and would rather have the hard removal and the extra synergy that Sylvanas Windrunner provides in warlock. I'm dubious of Lord Jaraxxus I think Alexstrasza may be better as it doesn't mess up Molten Giant plays and gives a large body that needs to be dealt with. But I won't deny Lord Jaraxxus beauty in a control matchup.
Thanks I'll try it out. I haven't been playing much lately because of school but I haven't been doing as well as I want to the last few days. I'm assuming it's at least half meta because my turn 3 7/8 void terror got bgh'd the last 2 times i attempted to play...gg :(
By the way this deck was intended to make a deck that makes void terror work because when the next set of cards come out it will be much better because of nerubian egg(or whatever it is).
Ideal play for him coined out ancient, silence watcher by ironbeak , void terror and eat the ironbeak. He really is dependent on sticking like a twilight drake. of course this assumes the iron beak sticks for a turn, but even if opponent removes with hero ability they will do little to affect the board that turn and you still have a yeti running loose.
Thinking about the synergies with the new cards is really making me look forward to the expansion.
Wow
is this a good wow or a bad wow?
Yeezus approves
