Stab at standard format version of Thijs's burnin' freeze mage.
Took out one ice barrier and added in a kirin tor, flamestrike and one loot horder, for a little more early game and cycle in the absence of the mad scientists.
In standard there should be a little less early pressure and aggro (except for Shamans) so deck could still run well without the early scientists.
Y'know, if you wanted to have the slightest bit of fun, you could put Yogg in there. I mean, c'mon, this shit is his bread and butter. But no, the class which can deal 20 damage in a turn just always uses the card which reduces enemy health to 15. Real fucking fair.
y are you complaining
How do you deal with aggro? Do you need always perfect starting hand to beat them, like frost nova + doomsayer? Tips would be appreciated!
emp
In general LoE >> Blackrock, but get the first wing of blackrock for the emperor and after that all of LoE. :)
thats right
put in Anomalus
I threw in a mana wyrm. Any other suggestions to sub out the Kirin Tor Mage?
i dont have forgotten torch any replacement??
Save for 700 gold, first wing of LoE is definitely worth.
Till then, +1 Ice Barrier, +1 Cone of Cold? I dunno, just make some of the 1-ofs 2-ofs and you should be good.
It all comes down to how much you know of this game, knowledge between all matchups and so on. So asking me/us here when it's correct to just go face before Alextrasza or after is all up to you. I.e if you know you can setup a two turn leathal and don't have an Alex play, go for it, or wait. Again up to you, what your gut is telling you. :)
Early game though, yes, you want to keep as much card draw you can on your opening hand. Keeping something like a Frostbolt is passable as well, though, not the strongest of plays. Your looking to/for stuff to thin your deck out at the start.
In the middle you want to either get your secrets out or boardclear/freeze the board to buy your way all the way to turn 10 or beyond. If you got some of the keycards for burst and Emperor on hand, play it. Don't wait for the PERFECT hand.
In the late game you want to either drop alex, combine spells with Archmage to gain additional burst or just GO for it. Those are the only three options.
I hope that helped you a bit. The deck takes some time to get use to but is rather easy to play once you get a hang of it(and good at some quick head math). Good luck.
Short version; Stay alive at all cost, think turns ahead when doubting to play secrets. Play Emperor in combination with a few burst/combination cards, don't wait for the perfect turn. Get to turn 10. The rest will solve it self, unless, you know, vs.... control Warrior. That's just hopeless.
I can honestly tell you with lots of experience. Try not to play your freeze cards until you need to clear a big board. I generally save Ice Lance till the very end (It's your main combo with Frostbolt). You want to try and get Emperor Thaurissan out with the enemy board frozen, and with as many damage cards in your hand as possible. At this time you are most likely under 20 health, but that's ok because you should have an Ice Block in play. I managed to have Thaurissan out for 2 turns so i got face with him, and got out enough combo damage to do about 19 face with Bloodmage Thalnos in play. very next turn was able to finish this druid with Pyroblast. It is not actually even necessary to win with Alexstrasza. Keep in mind that you can use that legend to chop enemy's health in half, or simply use it on yourself to buy more time. Hope this helps. This deck will seem frustrating, but its probably one of the hardest decks to learn with a very high skill curve. It takes LOTS of practice.
Except people won't play eater of secrets. Kezan was a rare find, but getting rid of a secret and getting it yourself was so powerful. Getting +1/+1 is shit.
Can Bloodmage Thalnos be replaced by a Cult Sorcerer?
Temporarily yes, but you want Thalnos eventually because he takes up a crucial card draw slot. Some people use him as a win condition, but I suppose you could do the same with the card you mentioned.
Except eater of secrets is trash in every other matchup. Unless you're literally facing 100% freeze mages, eater of secrets is fucking useless.
No, those cards are crucial to this deck.
What about Antonidas? Should wefit him in this deck? If we should, which card should be a replacement for him?
Tony fits good, I'd say pyro.
Anyone consider running a more reliable heal rather than the suggested Cult Apothecary? Maybe Refreshment Vendor, maybe even a Tournament Medic for a slow, yet sustained ability to heal while dealing with minions in between the board clears/freezes?
