Hello, I am Quatro, Polish player and streamer, I tried to make druid deck without combo, and I think that I did it. This deck helped me to reach rank 500 from rank 6000. We have here many ramp mechanics, so we can fast put on board our late game cards like boom, ysera or ragnaros.
We have also few removals vs aggro decks like wrath, swipe or keeper of the grove.
If u have any question I will try to answer for all ;)
My stats with this deck
This deck has many upvotes, so I will write a bit more about it ;)
Matchups:
Easy: Freeze Mage, Reno Mage, Control Warrior
Advantage for us: Face Hunter, Face Shaman (face decks have problem with so many taunts, if we can ramp one taunt it is probably gg), Dragon Priest (less removals than Control priest so he has more problems with our big drops), Renolock
50/50: Midrange Druid (who will first use Wild Growth, will have big advantage), Secret Paladin, Murloc Paladin
Disadvantage for us: Zoolock (we need to few early drops to win it), Control Priest (shadow word death can easy kill our big creature, entomb is painfully too)
Hard: Patron Warrior (probably with Malygos it will be easier), Tempo Mage (to big tempo, and mirror entity are killing us), Rogue (sap is the best counter vs our ramp)
Replacement
U are asking in comments how to replace Ragnaros, Ysera or any other legend. Just put to this deck any other usefull legend like Malygos, Harrios Jones, Cenarius (very interesting idea to play Cenarius here), Nefarian. If u dont have Ancient of War u can put Sunwalker or second Beltcher.
Mulligan:
Versus aggro u will need cards like Living Roots, Keeper of the Grove, Innervate, Swipe,
Versus control the most important is to get Wild Growth, u can also try to keep Naga and coin her in 4th turn, then in 5th turn u can put on board whatever u want.
Few screens from games ;)
5th turn, and we can have boom and ysera on board ^^
Cenarius is just bad in my opinion because (a) it doesn't impact the board enough for a 9 mana minion unless you can use the +2/+2 making it really a win more card and (b) it doesn't give long term value like Ysera does.
Generally Ysera is good (a) if you can get her out turn 5 or 6 against aggro with a Naga or (b) against control after they use up all their removal. This deck is one of the ones where, unlike in decks like old dragon/control priest and control warrior, you have enough big threats that your opponent will be forced to use their removal early and will not be able to save any for Ysera. As I'm sure you know, if she sticks Ysera can usually win you the game.
Master Jouster seems like it could be really good in this deck because of the high curve as you mentioned, but Sunwalker might be better because (especially against secret pally or zoo) not getting that taunt/divine shield when you need it can really screw you and the guarantee of those might be better than the +1/+1. That one is sort of personal preference though.
I agree with you completely about Aviana. She is great if you can save an innervate for her (in which case she acts as more or less a better Varian as far as impacting the board). I'm hesitant to add her though because it's one less big threat in the deck and as you said she can be pretty dead sometimes.
Kel'Thuzad in my opinion is sort of a win more card, but gets his value if you have even 1 midgame minion to kill and revive the turn you play him. I think he's great but of course there are lots of other big cards that could work in his place.
Hope some of this input helps, good luck with the deck building and playing :)
Thoughts on arch thief?
very funny, good for the start of season ^_^
What do you think of replacing Darnassus Aspirant with Grove Tender? I use it in my naga druid decklist (which I haven't uploaded) and I like it better because the mana gain is permanent, and since it says "Gain a mana crystal" instead of "Gain an empty mana crystal", its the same as playing a 3 drop and then the coin if you pick the mana option.
Just my opinion, but I'd use another big taunt like Ironbark Protector. Its a great tool for closing off aggression from your opponent and combos well with Kel'Thuzad.
Cenarius and Alexstrasza both work really well with Ramp IMO.
Meant to respond to first post. Darnassus aspirant is how he got boom and Ysera out by t5
NAGA :forsenGASM: !
Wow this deck looks like a lot of fun! I wonder how it will do against aggro tho
Hearthstone deck tracker ^^
Aviana is to slow for me, Naga can help us to have ysera or boom in 5th turn on board, and aviana is much slower. Also opponent don't always kill naga, but Aviana probably will work like taunt, and we won't have value from her.
Versus slower decks like priest or druid you can try to keep naga if u have any ramp mechanic, then u have big chance to 5-turn ysera/boom etc. Vs aggro it is normal mulligan (wrath, innervate, roots, keeper)
