This deck is built to be able to handle early rush decks, survive strong mid games, and finish with some explosive end game plays.
At first glance it looks like a basic warrior control deck, but you add in a few cards and it completely shifts the ability to handle meta game decks such as kolento hunter, reynad zoo, and the new saturos aggro mage.
NEW early/mid game contributions:
Sen'jin Shieldmasta: these stop aggro and mid range dead in their tracks, an armor smith behind a taz dingo can generate large amounts of armor and effective put their rush down to a halt.
Cleave: this is mainly added in because of zoo. 2 cost to remove a flame imp and a knife juggler is a pretty good deal, and it combos very will with Wild Pyromancer.
Wild Pyromancer: i cant even begin to describe how good this card is. you throw it down with a Cleave and a Slam and that full board from zoo or that unleash the skill from hunters turns into ashes as you completely shift the tempo in your favor for very low mana cost.
New-- Spellbreaker: i subbed out spell breaker for a Frothing Berserker. in the control matchups like druid, paladin, and handlock i find frothing under performing and i always lack a silence to stop that Twilight Drake [/card], [card] ancient of war , or Tirion Fordring. losing 1 frothing is not going to hurt your aggro matchups that much and a Spellbreaker can actually be pretty useful in zoo by silencing a buffed up minion and putting a decent 4/3 body on the board.
The basic early game: you use your Armorsmith to gain armor to sustain your life against aggro, coupling an Armorsmith with a Frothing Berserker can be fairly deadly, as you can become the aggressor with a surprise 7/4 frothing after a Whirlwind.
Mid-game: your Sen'jin Shieldmasta will prevent damage from coming through to you and Cairne Bloodhoof will provide a strong board , they easily carry you through to the late game in combination with removal spells such as Slam, Execute, and Brawl .
Late game: you have alexstraza to lower your oponents health to 15 then follow up next turn with a Grommash Hellscream+Cruel Taskmaster finish. if somehow your opponent still has the board in the mid/late game you have barron geddon to sweep up the board and setup for the big combo.
Wait.... wheres Gorehowl??: gorehowl is great in control match ups, but the new meta shift has caused a lot of grief with gorehowl. it is a useless card vs aggro decks as you want to take as little face damage as possible, and its such a late game card you barely get a chance to use it before the match is over. in control match ups more and more people are opting to put in Harrison Jones and Acidic Swamp Ooze. when harrison takes your gorehowl to the museum you waste 7 mana, a turn, and give your opponent a card and a 5/4. that sounds like a big bunch of nope to me
Deck strengths: with the new contributions, this deck is now suited up to beat: zoo, hunters, mages, druids, paladins and rogues. it makes control warrior way more versatile than before.
Deck weaknesses: handlock will ruin your day if your forced to use executes on twilight drakes, this matchup is exetremely favored to the handlock. priest can cause you issues by shadow word pain, it takes out frothing, armor smith, acolyte of pain, and tazdingo. leaving you struggling in the early starges, and then when you throw out that grommash it gets mind controlled. its just not a good time
Changes: -1Frothing +1 kokron elite
after using the kokron elite instead of frothing i feel like it is a stronger choice for the current meta as a 4 damage removal and a decent 4/3 body. but using frothing is also still viable if your more comfortable with that.
i encourage you to leave comments and suggestions :P
my brawl against Onyxia was with [card]Sylvanas Windrunner[/card] and Shadowflame BANG!!
Would love a mulligan guide for this deck.
im probably a bit late >.> was out for a bit lol. but you want to mulligan into armorsmith/frothing/fiery win axe always. and if your vs aggro you want to get a wild pyro and any spell along with an armor smith or frothing
Been playing this deck for a bit, and I wanted to do a very brief matchup (and super inaccurate) analysis (note, I cut [card]Big Game Hunter[/card] and [card]Baron Geddon[/card] and replaced them with [card] Gorehowl[/card] and The Black Knight since I find I get more use out of those cards. I also cut Alexstrasza for a 2nd Acolyte of Pain, since I almost always find myself wanting an early Acolyte, and Alex seems like a "win more" card)
- Vs. Warrior (non-mirror): Often some kind of Enrage variant, just stay patient, and kill their damaged guys with [card]Execute[/card] and Shield Slam.Ditch the [card]Whirlwind[/card] in the mulligan, even if it is a mirror, as the most of the early cards the warrior will play loves to be hit with a nice Whirlwind (enrage and card draw). I win more often than not, maybe 70%.
- Vs Mage: Love this matchup. Early, their damage/kill spells will boost your armor and card draw with [card]Armorsmith[/card] and Acolyte of Pain. Shield Slam is an all star here, since they don't play many early creatures, and handles those 3/6's with freeze quite nicely. I win probably 90% against mages.
- Vs. Walock aggro or Hunters: Similar strategy. Keep all your damaging spells beginning of game, especially Whirlwind . There are several combos that require 2 cards to kill a creature, but you will draw a card, so a net of only 1 card loss. Use those combos. [card]Cruel Taskmaster[/card] is a great card to keep also, as you can often use his ability on their men, and don't be afraid to do that often. These are the 2 matches this deck is built for, and it wins them quite well. I'd give it roughly 80%.
- Vs. Paladin: This could be a long game if they have a good amount of lifegain. Save your Fiery War Axe and hope to draw into a [card] Gorehowl[/card], as Paladin's tend to be a tick slower than this deck getting ramped up, and you can usually generate a good amount of armor that allows using your weapons quite well. Haven't played too many Paladin's, so I am guessing the win would be around 60% - 70%
- Vs. Handlock: Like the creator of the deck says, this match is tough. Obviously save the kill combos this deck has for the 8/8's that come at your face. Also, this is another match I added in The Black Knight for. Once Handlock has stabilized with any kind of board and you have no kill left, you will likely lose. I am guessing 30 - 40% win. Maybe as high as 50% if you can get an enraged [card]Grommash Hellscream[/card] at the right place at the right time.
- vs. Druid: They usually play ramp, so the key will be keeping the kill combos (Execute and any of the damage dealing cards), and take out the creatures as they come out. Again, The Black Knight loves their 5/10 with taunt, so this is another match I run him for. Stay as aggressive as possible, ramp Druid wants a long game to keep getting out the big cards. You need to pressure him to play big cards he doesn't want at the wrong time. Pretty good win rate, maybe 70%.
- vs. Rogue: Not sure, haven't played against enough rogues.
- Vs. Priest: Concede, it's easier. Seriously. They will wipe you all over the map. The deck can't handle their high health creatures, and isn't fast enough to do the 40 - 50 damage (after their lifegain) needed to kill them. By the time you get your big guys out, they will be taken by Mind Control. Win rate is miserable, maybe 20% at the very best.
had to pat your back on this one(for the priests). One game was really demoralising enough.
1. armorsmith/acolyte gets cabaled. The rest gets shadow word pained.
2. your legends get mind controlled/ shadow word death. Worst, faceless a rag and it hits your rag.
3. blademasters are a pain to remove.
4. no matter how card you try to clear the board, in the end your big minions gets mind controlled
I'm nearing completion with this deck although I'm missing Barron and Alex. I just got enough dust to craft one of them so any preferences on which one to get first? On a side note, I have Ysera currently in place for Alex and its working fine although Alex seems to be good in other decks as well.
I miss Baron Geddon and Cairne Bloodhoof, which cards can replace them, that works relatively well?
so because i don't have some card of the deck i tried to do some modification to it your thoughts and tips to make it better
Great deck, superb explanation. CORRECTION: Paragraph NEW-- Sprellbreaker: text reads: I subbed OUT Spell Breaker for Frothing Berserker. You mean you subbed IN Spell Breaker for Frothing Berserker.
I took out one armorsmith and the Spellbreaker,
added another Faceless and Black Knight.
I took out one Armorsmith and the Spellbreaker,
added another Faceless and Black Knight. Working well...
I'm only missing alexstraza, what should I replace? I pretty much have every other legendary in the game
Then disenchant some of the useless ones and make it?
I meant all the useful legendarys such as Ragnaros etc etc. Only iffy one is King Mukla
I have enough to buy one legendary. Im missing baron and alex. which do i go for and why? :)
Thanks alot! I appreciate your response! I get most frustrated against aggro decks as alot of times I dont have the removal for ALLLL of what they lay out and anything I tend to lay out gets removed in a trade favoring them. I went with baron and I am really loving it! :)
I like how you get 2 legendarys every time at the start 8-9 mana minions at turn one well least we know why it keeps losing.
I would like to say that I am missing Baron and Cairne, but I replaced them with Illidin and Sylvannah, and Sylvannah has perfect synergy with Brawl because you will always win!
Yes very true, I am a beginner HS player, but I have obtained both cards, I am currently rank 14 I'm going to start playing this deck with Cairne and Geddon and see how it goes :) Illidin is a horrible choice indeed though
This is a strong deck choice. I'm currently running this, however sometimes the spell breaker is not needed. I recommend making 3 variations of this deck(rank); and subbing in cards for what you don't have is slightly viable. Not to be mean, baron cant be replaced etc... so just choose a strong replacement your comfortable with. Warrior is an expensive deck, and can still lose.
