Hi, this is MarkW, a Hong Kong player in EU server.
I've been playing this since s22 (EU) and it's been unexpectedly effective and fun, so enjoy lads.
UPDATE: Swapped Kodorider with Bloodhoof Brave.

Check the SPOILER, STANDARD VERSION NOW OUT.
THE STANDARD VERSION OF THIS DECK WILL BE OUT SOON...
A couple week back, I thought of the idea of a Taunt Warrior, and as you do, I looked up in Hearthpwn. As I found nothing (at the time), I figured that it's time for me to make a deck, and for myself and our beloved hearthpwn community.
The original idea is to try out Sparring Partner,Bolster and Fierce Monkey, especially, with Mr. Sparring, his appearance on the meta is close to non-existent.
As I brought this deck to the fury of the ladder, there were complications as I was overly focused on the Taunt idea, this current deck is brought to you largely by trial-and-error.
I was very close to legend s22, but finally I managed to make it there this time. This deck is the nightmare of many meta decks, you essentially build up this great wall of China, but made immortal with Mr. Kel.
Here's the explanation for a couple of unusual cards:
Sparring Partner,Bolster and Fierce Monkey
As I explained earlier, these are the cornerstone cards for this deck. Fierce Monkey is a pretty good 3 drop, especially for warrior.
Sparring Partner and Bolster, for the taunt theme, and establishing a board filled with buffed up taunts.
Armorsmith x2
Now you might say this is an obvious one, but no. With this deck, I only ran 1 and I found myself through a lot of trouble. You'll need to generate a fair amount of armor, but with Taunts in the way, this works magically in your favor.
Why Obsidian Destroyer not Dr. Boom?
Obsidian Destroyer provides good combo and value (Only in this deck). Its 1/1 taunt has great synergy with Bolster and enables a small but effective bulwark against large minions. The 7/7 body invites immediacy for removal, just like Boom but only that you can't run something into it without going through the taunts. If he manages to live more than one round, (let's be brutally honest here, he's not going to live more than 1 round, otherwise you've essentially won.) you'll be able to stack up your board for more control... (To be continued)
Sparring Partner + The Black Knight Combo
This essentially guarantees the death of a particular minion, Taunt it up with Sparring Partner and kill it with The Black Knight. 8-Mana Combo.
Varian Wrynn provides an incredible tempo swing, pulling out 2-3 Taunts on the Battlefield can save your life. I understand the concern with pulling out Battlecry minions but there aren't that many.. (Especially many Low-cost Battlecry minions were previously played, by the time you put out Varian Wrynn, the probability of you getting a Sparring Partner is rather low.)
Let me quickly round it up, I've got things to do and fish to fry...
I've still got a lot to explain, especially with Kodorider
Kodorider and its spawns cannot be killed by big AOE spells, such as Lightbomb, Flamestrike, Consecration, Holy Nova and so on. They can also be easily Taunted up as well, by for example a Defender of Argus
Card Replacements:
Varian Wrynn: Arch-Thief Rafaam
Kodorider: Sylvanas Windrunner, Piloted Sky Golem
Elise Starseeker: A difficult card to replace this one, since it's ability is rather unique. Maybe for a Sen'jin Shieldmasta?
The Black Knight: Sylvanas Windrunner
Kel'Thuzad: Grommash Hellscream
Alternative:
I'm trying Brawl -1, Arcane Nullifier X-21 -2, Defender of Argus -1, Acolyte of Pain +1, Annoy-o-Tron +2, Bolster +1... I'm only at experimental stage with this change, if it turns out to be effective, I'll make these changes. (I'm rather skeptical of losing my only Brawl.)
Hogger was mentioned a couple of times, I see what everyone meant by using him, and feel free to try him out. The problem withHogger is, since he's a 4/4 and spawns 2/2s, this can be easily killed byFlamestrike orLightbomb. In combination with the problem that a 4/4 body is very easy to deal with. Regardless of my opinion, I do think he could be a viable replacement ofKodorider.

Couldn't agree more, especially with the emphasis of Varian Wrynn.
The moment I lose board control it feels impossible to regain it and the game usually ends up losing. Any advice? There doesn't seem to be a way to clear a board of small minions and dropping 1 taunt minion per turn usually doesn't do enough against a larger amount of value minions.
Varian Wrynn is the solution to your problem
Super fun. People don't know how to deal with all the taunts. Nice job! Keep being creative!!!
Got inspired by The Great Wall of China, as you do.
First game with this deck (against a Shaman) was very exciting: I dropped down to 2 points of life in the late game, but was able to armor up enough to survive and win the match (I subbed Justicar Trueheart for The Black Knight). Fun deck! Thanks for sharing.
Fun deck to play in Casual but there is no way you climbed to Legend with this deck.
Trust me and go for ladder, it will work. Pray to RNGesus
Looking good so far. 3-1. Beat two CW variations and one of those new camel hunters floating around. One loss to a priest that was mostly because of a northshire, velens, velens curve.
Hunter was easy peasy. Trade, survive, and wall up. Ran him out of cards and got an Obsidian Destroyer to stick which led to a concede.
The two warriors were interesting. The taunts really screw with their weapon removal and hiding an armorsmith to get several procs out of it gave me the armor lead by the time we were reaching fatigue. The two executes, BGH, sparring partner + black knight, really do have to be saved for big targets. You can handle small things by forcing them to run into your wall of taunts;plus, you have your weapons too. Definitely plays like a slow deck
Also, I'm running Arch-Thief Rafaam instead of Varian since I don't have the latter. It definitely has an impact of its own.
Well said and thank you for your detailed review.
I'll give it a try tonight on US server rank 10/9.
Thanks for the deck
TAUNT is cheat please nerf. In all seriousness I tried a taunt warrior with a completely different list from yours and the biggest problems with it were when I didnt get my bolsters in time or the mana curve was completely awkward in some games but I think a couple of new cards from a future expansion might just be able to push it into being viable.
0-7 so far with this deck. Aggro decks stomp it with little resistance. This deck is NOT recommended for US Play.
This deck has not performed the Elsie combo once in those games.
I'm sorry to hear about that, over here in EU I've been having a rough 74% winrate to Legend. Can you identify the issue other than being rushed by aggro decks?
It has no strong way to close the game out other than Elsie and closing out games is pretty darn important.
It feels like the only thing this deck can do is draw games out into long losses. I usually play around rank 8. After picking up this deck, I dropped to rank 15 in no time.
replacement for The Black Knight?
Sylvanas Windrunner would be my choice.
Sorry but i don't get it ...
9 loses in a row with this deck ..... 9 Games without a nice curve.
I'm sorry to hear about that, others seem to have success with this deck. Try and identify the problem and I'll attempt to solve it.
this is looking like a good deck, i think warrior always need justicar when you not playing aggro. and tournament medic could be very uselfull behind taunt wall and battle rage looks better than acolyte of pain
