Kibler played this Raptor Rogue deck on stream yesterday. As usual with the Dragon Master, the deck is very well builded. There are the traditional deathrattle minions, combined with Unearthed Raptor and Defender of Argus, and some tech cards like Big Game Hunter...
For those interested to see how the deck works, I made a short video (the original video contains 3 games but my 2nd and 3rd opponent both left, so I had to cut it).
Don't hesitate to upvote if you like this cool deck! :=)
I went with Cairne or Sylvanas
In Standard this deck might not work any more. You won't have Shredders, Belchers, Creepers or Eggs. In wild though I'm sure N'Zoth would be okay
Haha, I played Kibler as raptor rogue 2 seasons back - nice to see him coming round at last ;D Really interesting to run the Sky Golems, I've played a bit with Sylvanas who fills a similar role but think I've currently dropped her.
One big comment I've got is that you should understand that the 5-slot is a flex slot. You can choose 4 of the following cards:
Dark Iron Skulker, Loatheb, Azure Drake, Sludge Belcher
Loatheb is good against control and spell decks, Skulker is good against aggro, zoo and druid, Drake is good against control and midrange, Belcher is good against aggro.
You should be willing to switch these out on a game to game basis depending on how the meta is fairing on a given day.
Dropping the second Eviscerate for Sap is a tough choice, I prefer a more aggressive zoo-style of deck and play where the reach works out more important.
Kibler's response to this is exact comment is: Sylvanas' almost effect never triggers against control warriors due to all of their hard removal. With a Sky Golem you generally will get a 4 mana cost minion. [paraphrased]
I guess he plays a lot of control warriors at/near legend.
How about second Dark Iron Skulker replace for 1x SI:7 or 1x Sky golem ?
It's a tricky card to play, that's either obscene or average and slow, I'd say you definitely don't want two clogging your hand. With one you can often enough time it just right, but there are other good cards that you can play at any time, and being able to spend all your mana every turn is very important for this deck.
i did read all the comments and ignored, just picked up this deck and started to play on ladder. for my surprise it's amazing what you can do with this deck, if starts well you win so easy a secret faggot paladin and aggro shaman. went 20-9 and climbed to rank 5.
hard matchups to win like priest and warrior, coin + nerubian egg + backstab turn one and win the game.
it's not "WOW HOW AMAZIN" but it's something, you can see how shaman and paladin was stomped so hard.
A lot of people are shitting on this deck, but I had a couple Rogue quests stacked up so I gave it a try. At Rank 5, I just went 5-1 with it and cleared all my quests while moving up to Rank 4. I can't say if the deck is great for long-term win %, but all the people shitting on it and saying "it can't win a game" are the typical people that come trash every deck. I beat face hunter, aggro shaman, and 2 secret paladins in my 5 games, so it definitely has a chance against meta. Setting up to BGH a secret pally's MC is pretty easy with all the sticky minions, and secret pally rarely recovers from that.
That's cute and all, and I love that a player played this deck at legendary, but it sucks cock and doesn't actually ever win.
It can't win at legendary, ikt can't win at 10 wins, its just so bad that it never wins. It may as well be a 'legendary' mill deck.
I really wanted to make raptor rogue work quite some time ago, tried really hard and managed to get to rank 3 with it. Still, theres just too many reasons it will never be consistant enough for tier 1. the two guys above me DO get it (go ahead n thumbs down me... I can easily explain exactly why raptor rogue is a gimmick.)
1) The deck is built around curving a 2 drop into unearthed raptor. Without this (happens maybe 20% of the time if you mulligan aggressively) you get steam rolled by the low mana curves of zoo, secret pally, shaman or druid + innervate.
2) This deck is missing the abundance of low cost efficient spells which 'classic' rogue uses to easily build up a board early game. Without hitting a 1-2-3 early curve you'll never 'have' an existing board late game to pull of the 'big dream' plays (Ie. piloted sky goldem + raptor).
3)Card draw sucks (yes you have beefy minions so you don't need it... but again now you are counting on drawing INTO your curve). Healing also sucks in this deck. 2 defenders of argus... 2 cards in an entire deck that counter aggro? Without curving into argus decks like aggro shaman are actually impossible to beat.
4) S.I. agent sucks balls in this deck. other than 'luckily' having coin or backstab he does nothing for early game tempo.
5) Oil rogue is better. vs pally and zoo than raptor rogue. at least 30-40% of your matchups in this meta.
6)All the people in the comments claiming to have success with it are playing at shit ranks and have no idea what they are talking about. I played this from season start after TGT came out till rank 3 so I actually know how this deck stacks against tier 1 decks with good pilots.
not only for budget reasons, your apponent litterally has no answer to double Thaddius if you copy one with Unearthed Raptor . sure, they can bgh one of them but not 2 :D
Definitely Loot Hoarder. You don't get the spell power, but the death rattle is still there if you drop it on two going into raptor on 3, or if you just need the draw.
I still have a pretty limited collection, so swapped Bloodmage with a second Hoarder and the second PSG with a second Eviscerate. After watching Kibler play this deck, I just had to give it a go. It is a lot of fun and a welcome break from the same old meta decks.
Update: This deck is great if you're like me and procrastinated on ladder. Went 11-4 starting at rank 15.
Bonus: Just beat someone playing Kibler's monkey mage with it.
Named it Crisp Rat adn it currently has a 66% winrate (8-4) from the bottom of 15 to 13. I've found that with all the deathrattles, pushing board aggressively works wonders, so don't be afraid to all-in. Also, considering Undertaker as a 1-drop
Wisp
Skulker is hard to replace against Druid, Zoo, and Secret Pally, since he can devastate their board, but a second Eviscerate could help.
This looks interesting if a little bit heavy for a raptor rogue. The high number of taunts will certainly help it with the common combo druid, anyone tested to see how it fares vs Secret Derpadin? I'll give it a shot tonight for sure!
So I ran it for a bit last night, climbed from 5 to 4 at about 60% win rate, and it is quite fun. It does surprisingly well versus Secret Paly. Most of my losses were to Warrior/Mage (control/patron/tempo) which are a minority on the ladder, so I'd say it's viable. I was considering swapping one Piloted Sky Golem for a Sylvanas Windrunner but I'm torn because the extra point of damage has made a big difference quite a few times, and once he rolled me a Sen'jin Shieldmasta just when I needed him.
