Hi there, I'm Bloor, an Italian streamer and legendary player. This is a very funny and competitive deck that I'm using right now to climb until legend.
Maybe you heard about me because my Secret Paladin, Midrange Druid and Reno Paladin have been in the Hearthpwn Home Page for a very long time. You can find my decks here: http://www.hearthpwn.com/members/Bloor/decks
First of all, I played "Echo Mage" for a very long time and this is one of my favourite deck in Hearthstone, and also one of the deck I can use better. Elise is a new card that could take a big value here, because you can Draw a lot and also gain value from duplicate. So, I decided to try a new version of the deck to use for this season. This is pretty the same version I played before, but with a few changes. I'm testing it right now but it seems stable. the deck is very DIFFICULT to use, so don't expect to take it and do a win streak, you need to practice before using it very well.
You can watch me while I use this deck here: http://www.twitch.tv/bloor95
Mulligan Guide:
- Shaman: Acolyte of Pain, Mad Scientist, Frostbolt, Doomsayer
- Mage: Acolyte of Pain, Mad Scientist, Frostbolt
- Druid: Acolyte of Pain, Mad Scientist, Frostbolt, Illuminator, Polymorph
- Warlock: Acolyte of Pain, Mad Scientist, Frostbolt, Doomsayer
- Warrior: Acolyte of Pain, Mad Scientist, Frostbolt
- Rogue: Acolyte of Pain, Mad Scientist, Frostbolt
- Priest: Acolyte of Pain, Mad Scientist, Frostbolt
- Paladin: Acolyte of Pain, Mad Scientist, Doomsayer, Frostbolt
- Hunter: Acolyte of Pain, Mad Scientist, Frostbolt, Doomsayer
Strategy:
You need always to take the best value from your minions: Ping on Acolyte of Pain, Duplicate on Explosive Sheep if you're against deck like ZooLock, or on Sludge Belcher in general, but also Elise and Illuminator. Avoid duplicating Mad Scientist and Acolyte of Pain cause it's useless.
Every turn you need to think about what to play the next turn, because the deck is based on removing minion with AOE (Blizzard, Flamestrike, but also Frost Nova + Doomsayer) so you'll need to take the max value from these cards. If you can wait another turn because you think you're safe, just do it! Your win condition is to have Molten Giant on the ground and an IceBlock or healing to cover you. Obviously, you also need to play around classes like Priest, who can easily remove your Molten Giant board with Lightbomb: try putting only a Molten Giant on the ground (if you have more in your hand) and see what your opponent does: if you know he has not removal, play other giants.
Elise is also a win condition, but you don't have to play it if you're not in a safe condition. This deck is very difficult to use, and a single mistake could let you lose the game. the deck is VERY GOOD against deck like Secret Paladin or ZooLock, because you can easily remove their board and take advantage.
I really hope you liked the deck. It's really cool to play it and I am actually using it to master my Mage to 500 wins (450 actually), and I have over 200+ games played with my old version of "Echo Mage" without Elise. Let me know what you think about it! Thanks! :)
having experience with both echo and freeze mage I can say this deck is complete trash on NA
I faced someone who has this deck in the ladder at rank 10 i think, I am using reno paladin that time, I admit that i had a hard time controlling the board, luckily i won after more than 15 minutes of gameplay, he successfully played 2 iceblocks + echo/duplicate on healbot, .. cool deck btw! :D
I found this deck to be fun to play, and those moments where you get 4 giants on the board feel pretty good.
Your opinion on Etherial Conjurer? I've actually been having success with this dude: he's utility when I need it but can put a body on the board as well.
awesome deck, not so hard to play, one the worst difficulty is to don't burn cards :)
Going with a strong legendary minion is probably a solid choice, but Molten + Echo is one of the win conditions for this deck. Remove it and you are left with is Elise Starseeker, taunts, heals, and board clears. Check out this Monkey Mage deck which is very similar. The replacements would be Azure Drake and Refreshment Vendor.

Nice! I also only use one ice block and I went with a 2nd explosive sheep. I have 2 ice blocks in my collection but I think the deck is better this way.
This deck is pretty fun. I would take out Illuminator for another Echo of Medivh... but then again, I like to play this deck a little bit more aggressive. You can check out my full review and gameplay of this deck below:
Nice deck!
you can get 4-6 moltens out there and frost nova everything and pray.
Any replacement for the second doomsayer?
I've decided to run the deck with 2 sheep and 1 ice block. It's better early game against zoo, pally, and druid to draw the sheep more consistently, and when you are curving out nicely there is enough healing and taunts to keep you alive into the late game. Also when I get scientist in my opening hand, it's always better when he death-rattles a duplicate. Running only 1 ice block gives you a 2/3 chance of getting your duplicate.
Have you had any matches where the second ice block was the difference between winning and losing?
Thanks for the deck. I've had some very fun match-ups!
good deck!
11-3
nice deck bro
I really like the deck because it took me 2-0 immediately, when you can drop 2 giants, it's easy.
VS Priest I learned the hard way that Ice Block does not protect you versus fatigue damage.
I thought: "next turn you die, filthy priest!" LOLz
It was basically because I milled some cards after two Deathlords gave me two Acolyte of Pains. :)
Ok, back to 2-2 and learning how this deck is actually played best, if you don't have an insane draw luck.
This deck is awesome. I've been looking for a good, fun mage deck since I started to get bored of playing tempo mage, and this one has hit the spot. I've got a lot more wins than losses! It's quite hard as you say, but I figure if you know what you're doing it's possible to win against almost any matchup. And when you win it always feels super rewarding, and it often leads to some very entertaining games! Thank you for this
Hi I have more questions about card choices.
Why acolyte over 2nd arcane intellect?
Why blizzard over 2nd expl. sheep?
No BGH?
No twilight drake?
Cheers
Thanks, appreciate it
really bad deck
having experience with both echo and freeze mage I can say this deck is complete trash on NA
How do you win against Control Warriors who play Justicar t6?
EDIT: After a game that made it to fatigue I'm pretty sure Control Warrior is not a really good matchup for this deck? Especially when he draws Justicar t6 and Elise before t8...
He just had too much armor, and he got the better legendaries (e.g. Neptulon), but that's just my typical bad RNG. :x
I guess you just have to pray that he does not draw Justicar too early ? >_>
