Hey guys this is my Injured Camel Hunter deck that i finished #1 Legend EU with on 29/02/2016.
Here is me hitting #1 - http://imgur.com/YuhCDje
Here is my twitch where i regularly stream - http://www.twitch.tv/j4ckiechan
I have been tweaking this list for a couple of weeks and i think this version is very smooth, it is a minion based midrange Hunter with the potential for huge tempo swings.
I don't really like how clunky your hand can often be in standard midrange hunter lists, i would often end up with a hand full of weapons, secrets and Kill Command, i like having more minions in the deck so i can more consistently apply early pressure. This deck is much more focused on board control rather than going face.
When using Desert Camel you need to be aware of what 1 drops your opponent could get and if you have the board/hand to deal with it. I think Cult Master is currently the best draw mechanic for hunter as it is great when you have board control and is amazing with Unleash the Hounds.
Mulligan - Generally You are looking for early minions like Webspinner, Haunted Creeper, Flame Juggler and Knife Juggler. Glaivezooka is also really good for making favourable trades early on. Against aggro decks such as zoo and secret pala it is useful to keep Unleash the Hounds to help deal with their early board pressure. Against classes like with single high health targets you can also keep Hunter's Mark.
Match Ups (With a rough estimation of Winrates(Hunter/Enemy))
Druid (70/30) - This is generally a good matchup as you can apply early pressure which Druid can struggle to deal with. They usually don't run any 1 mana minions so Desert Camel is really strong against them. Also Hunter's Mark can give you amazing tempo when used on big minions such as Druid of the Claw.
Warlock - Zoo (50/50) - You want to fight for the board early on with strong cards like Haunted Creeper, Flame Juggler and Glaivezooka. However if you fall behind early on Knife Juggler and Unleash the Hounds on turn 5 can be extremely powerful and put you in a strong position, you can even hit Imp Gang Boss multiple times to get as many hounds as possible.
Warlock - Reno (60/40) - This is a good matchup. You have a lot of minions in your deck to consistently apply pressure, just make sure you don't overcommit on turn 4 as you can get very punished by AoE, ideally when they use AoE you want to still have a lot of minions in your hand to refill the board. When they use Reno Jackson you should already have a solid board so you can continue to push damage through. Hunter's Mark Is extremely effective when used against their big threats such as Twilight Drake.
Control Warrior (65/35) - This matchup is very similar to the Renolock matchup, just make sure you don't over commit as you don't want to get punished by Brawl. They struggle to deal with your bigger threats such as Savannah Highmane so if you already have a coupe of early minions in your hand you can consider keeping it in your mulligan.
Secret Paladin (45/55) - Getting early 2 drops down is very important, you need to fight for the board early on using your cheap minions and Glaivezooka. You can play around Mysterious Challenger by using Unleash the Hounds to activate their Noble Sacrifice and then using Hunter's Mark on the buffed minion.
Aggro Shaman (35/65) - This is difficult. This is probably the only matchup i would consider keeping Injured Kvaldir in my opening hand because you absolutely have to get some bodies on the board to kill their minions. Desert Camel Is pretty bad in this matchup as you can give them powerful cards like Tunnel Trogg.
Mage - Freeze (50/50) - You can win this as long as you keep putting on pressure on them while playing around their aoe. Also make the most of your hero power, it is very good for popping their Ice Block as soon as possible. Combining Hunter's Mark with other cards is you only way of dealing with their Frost Nova Doomsayer combo.
Mage - Tempo (55/45) - This is a close matchup, if you cannot deal with their aggression you will lose, they have limited minions so dealing with them is vital. They will often run out of cards early on and you can outvalue them.
Priest (45/55) - Against Priest Hunter's Mark is your best friend, always keep it in your opening hand as it destroys Deathlord and any other buffed minions. Also be wary when using Desert Camel as they have a lot of strong 1 drops, make sure you have the board/hand/weapon to deal with a 3 health minion.
Rogue (60/40) - Similar to midrange druid this is a good matchup. You can easily drop minions down early on and pressure them, they have limited heal, and you have Hunter's Mark to deal with their single minions.
Face Hunter (35/65) - They put so much damage down early on and with no heal in the deck you can struggle to come back, however Houndmaster can be amazing at saving you some health while putting the aggression back on them. Also you want get as much value out of your jugglers as possible as they have a lot of 1 health minions which you can pick off.
Tech Choices - I have tried multiple versions of camel hunter, initially using Mad Scientist with the likes of Snake Trap and Bear Trap. However i feel like this non secret list runs much nicer and is more consistent overall.
I hope this guide has been useful feel free to ask any questions in the comment section below, or tweet me at https://twitter.com/J4CKIE_HS
i LOVE desert cammel, it is the best card ever
this is easily one of the worst decks i have come across whilst playing this game.. gg to you sir <snip>
Dr. Boom seemed clunky and out of place in the deck so I put in Gormok the Impaler and it seems to be working nicely. Plenty of minions usually on board and that extra damage to cut through Deathlord and Sludge Belcher is pretty handy.
Nice deck bro.. Here's my gameplay. =)
It will be appreciated if you would put my video in your guide. Thanks bro. =)
You got legend with this? Impressive.
against paladin %45,against shaman %35 ?? so its bad against all EU :D
nice deck
Great deck. The only change I made was -1 Webspinner +1 Shredder. I felt the turn 1 Webspinner wasn't important and I much preferred pulling Injured Kvaldir. Shredder helped with a solid turn 4 follow up, and works well with Cult master
I can't believe noone took a second to congrat J4ckiechan for his #1 at the end of the season. FailFish
Plz guys, you have the decklist and a guide, stop asking for replacements and pay respect :P
Are there any more options besides the 2 Injured Kvaldir ?
Felt so weird playing hunter without kill command, secrets/keeper, and eaglehorn. I liked the deck- although I only built it to win 1 daily because midrange was getting completely blown out in the tempo game. Thumbs up, would play again (if blizzard makes me play hunter for gold).
I typically hate playing as Hunter, but I gave this deck a try and its actually fun!
I made a comprehensive video review of the deck and tried a game with it. Check it out here:
I hate to say it, but this feels like the most stable/consistent hunter deck this month outside of Face Hunter. A tad weak vs. aggro pally/face hunters but +1 for consistency vs. mostly everything else
Обзор колоды на русском языке!
No luck with it, sorry.
I've had a little more success with chow over kvaldir. Chow is often a great way to get on board in a big way early which is essential for this deck to work correctly. I'm sure J4ckiechan has tried this and decided on Kvaldir, but if anyone is looking for a tweak to the deck, that's what I'd recommend.
My hunter is still actually level 56.. so may as well give this a go!
would like to work in some removal somehow...
turn 2 is important... but was thinking -2 jugglers +2 skillcommands... or even -1 jug +1 skill?
It's popular right now, but not with a better winrate than the typical midrange Hunter. People for the past 3-4 days have been seeing it discussed on Reddit, and they thought it could be sort of meta-breaking because a guy took it to #1 legend. A very talented guy indeed, but apart from his skill, as correctly mentioned in the Reddit discussion his success was based mostly in the novelty of the deck since most of his opponents were not able to predict what he was exactly going to play and when.
Now that the novelty is starting to wear off, its efficiency is naturally falling, as evidenced in many recent streams. The only good thing I see about it, other than the old but underused idea of using a Camel to bring out 1-drops (Injured Kvaldirs, if lucky enough), is that players who use the deck are thinking ahead and wisely trading minions, which makes for a far more exciting game than just clicking on face. Unfortunately though, one of the most simple counters is simply adding just 1 or 2 more one-drops in your own deck, perhaps Kvaldirs or Zombie Chows.
In any case, big thumbs up for the effort.
Yo yo, dudes. I made a video about the deck. Pretty strong deck, has some nice synergy. What I like about the deck, welp, it has a pretty nice curve, even better than other midrange hunters, what I don't like is that it doesn't a run Kill Command, which is a pretty nice finisher and actually works for trading too. Overall I like this deck and played some nice games. Actually the second game was quite insane, my opponent's skill(rng) was craaaaaaaaazy. Check it out and leave a comment or two.
