Hey guys this is my Injured Camel Hunter deck that i finished #1 Legend EU with on 29/02/2016.
Here is me hitting #1 - http://imgur.com/YuhCDje
Here is my twitch where i regularly stream - http://www.twitch.tv/j4ckiechan
I have been tweaking this list for a couple of weeks and i think this version is very smooth, it is a minion based midrange Hunter with the potential for huge tempo swings.
I don't really like how clunky your hand can often be in standard midrange hunter lists, i would often end up with a hand full of weapons, secrets and Kill Command, i like having more minions in the deck so i can more consistently apply early pressure. This deck is much more focused on board control rather than going face.
When using Desert Camel you need to be aware of what 1 drops your opponent could get and if you have the board/hand to deal with it. I think Cult Master is currently the best draw mechanic for hunter as it is great when you have board control and is amazing with Unleash the Hounds.
Mulligan - Generally You are looking for early minions like Webspinner, Haunted Creeper, Flame Juggler and Knife Juggler. Glaivezooka is also really good for making favourable trades early on. Against aggro decks such as zoo and secret pala it is useful to keep Unleash the Hounds to help deal with their early board pressure. Against classes like with single high health targets you can also keep Hunter's Mark.
Match Ups (With a rough estimation of Winrates(Hunter/Enemy))
Druid (70/30) - This is generally a good matchup as you can apply early pressure which Druid can struggle to deal with. They usually don't run any 1 mana minions so Desert Camel is really strong against them. Also Hunter's Mark can give you amazing tempo when used on big minions such as Druid of the Claw.
Warlock - Zoo (50/50) - You want to fight for the board early on with strong cards like Haunted Creeper, Flame Juggler and Glaivezooka. However if you fall behind early on Knife Juggler and Unleash the Hounds on turn 5 can be extremely powerful and put you in a strong position, you can even hit Imp Gang Boss multiple times to get as many hounds as possible.
Warlock - Reno (60/40) - This is a good matchup. You have a lot of minions in your deck to consistently apply pressure, just make sure you don't overcommit on turn 4 as you can get very punished by AoE, ideally when they use AoE you want to still have a lot of minions in your hand to refill the board. When they use Reno Jackson you should already have a solid board so you can continue to push damage through. Hunter's Mark Is extremely effective when used against their big threats such as Twilight Drake.
Control Warrior (65/35) - This matchup is very similar to the Renolock matchup, just make sure you don't over commit as you don't want to get punished by Brawl. They struggle to deal with your bigger threats such as Savannah Highmane so if you already have a coupe of early minions in your hand you can consider keeping it in your mulligan.
Secret Paladin (45/55) - Getting early 2 drops down is very important, you need to fight for the board early on using your cheap minions and Glaivezooka. You can play around Mysterious Challenger by using Unleash the Hounds to activate their Noble Sacrifice and then using Hunter's Mark on the buffed minion.
Aggro Shaman (35/65) - This is difficult. This is probably the only matchup i would consider keeping Injured Kvaldir in my opening hand because you absolutely have to get some bodies on the board to kill their minions. Desert Camel Is pretty bad in this matchup as you can give them powerful cards like Tunnel Trogg.
Mage - Freeze (50/50) - You can win this as long as you keep putting on pressure on them while playing around their aoe. Also make the most of your hero power, it is very good for popping their Ice Block as soon as possible. Combining Hunter's Mark with other cards is you only way of dealing with their Frost Nova Doomsayer combo.
Mage - Tempo (55/45) - This is a close matchup, if you cannot deal with their aggression you will lose, they have limited minions so dealing with them is vital. They will often run out of cards early on and you can outvalue them.
Priest (45/55) - Against Priest Hunter's Mark is your best friend, always keep it in your opening hand as it destroys Deathlord and any other buffed minions. Also be wary when using Desert Camel as they have a lot of strong 1 drops, make sure you have the board/hand/weapon to deal with a 3 health minion.
Rogue (60/40) - Similar to midrange druid this is a good matchup. You can easily drop minions down early on and pressure them, they have limited heal, and you have Hunter's Mark to deal with their single minions.
Face Hunter (35/65) - They put so much damage down early on and with no heal in the deck you can struggle to come back, however Houndmaster can be amazing at saving you some health while putting the aggression back on them. Also you want get as much value out of your jugglers as possible as they have a lot of 1 health minions which you can pick off.
Tech Choices - I have tried multiple versions of camel hunter, initially using Mad Scientist with the likes of Snake Trap and Bear Trap. However i feel like this non secret list runs much nicer and is more consistent overall.
I hope this guide has been useful feel free to ask any questions in the comment section below, or tweet me at https://twitter.com/J4CKIE_HS
Jackie, you are very cool man. All your decks are awesome. ty so much for it!
Do you see possible to add and owl? Those pesky doomsayers..
thats why you have 2 hunters mark
I really like the idea of making the Desert Camel somewhat of a viable card. This deck is pretty fun especially when your opponent has no one drops and usually no answer to, two 2/4's out on the board as early as turn three. It has the capability of having great momentum but as every deck does, this has a downside too. The downside is basically playing into very aggressive decks that run one minions or playing versus classes that have pivotal one drops that could easily change the momentum of the game. I found this happening a lot, when facing secret/aggro paladins and mech/tempo mages because the one drops that we pull out for them with Desert Camel could usually get stronger then the current minions we have. Nonetheless, I think if ladder doesn't consist of too many secret paladins on any certain day, this deck will give you it's money's worth. Anyways, I made a video for this deck that is free to be used by anyone if desired. Nonetheless, have a great day and night, guys and gals.
This deck is surprisingly good but the guy did hit legend rank 1 so I guess its not that big of a surprise.
Would be cool if Blizzard will add some cool 1-drops in new the expansion for this kind of deck. I like the deck, but sadly have only first wing of Naxx, and now dont want to open the rest, so how could i replace webspinner, sludge and loatheb?
Hi d1mis!
I think that a good 1-drops could be zombie chow and leper gnome (for me they act like a natural taunt). You could gain some trades with these cards on the board.
For Sludge and Loatheb, I think that Azure Drake, Harrison Jones or Stranglehorn Tiger could be good.
12-2 on rank 15 eu aweasome deck man i love it!
At least in NA this deck doesn't seem to be good whatsoever, it depends a lot on the camels as it is the main strategy and rarely i can mulligan them for some reason, plus an injured kvaldir in ur hand is almost useless.
I am actually having some success on NA ladder. 8-1 so far.
Why the hell would you play injured kvaldir as a hunter - I can think of like five minions off the top of my head that are a better choice
Do you even read? I mean the answer to the question is even in the title of the deck
Read Desert Camel again, and think about what the interaction between it and Injured Kvaldir would be. I'll give you some time to think about it.
Ultra unlucky with this deck...
Thank you!!! This deck make my laddering smoother than last month :D
Double Cult Master and Unleash the Hounds. Milled myself into oblivion. 10/10
thoughts on Brann in this deck?
Yes, it synergises well with Injured Kvaldir
That will work great with Injured Kvaldir. Kappa
I actually just started creating a beast hunter variant of this with my friend AgentQ52, and when I considered running the Camel, I instantly had the same idea as you. However, I was breaking .500 with wins in Legend Rank (maybe even less) with my deck. I love your plan with this though, and will give it a shot tonight.
