There are two classes I play to legend every season - warrior and priest. After a lot of experimenting in legend, I decide to share only the best versions that I get. I often see fun cards which potential hasn't been used in decks enough. Having tons of fun and climbing ranks at the same time is what makes the true magical experience of Hearthstone. This deck provided that joy for me and still does it.
Newest update: Added the almighty dragon Deathwing instead of Nefarian, which lead me to legend this season. With so many secret paladins and zoo decks, this addition was necessary to dominate those match-ups as the great last resort!
Important update: Changed 1x Fiery War Axe for 1x Armorsmith . Decided to update it here because it worked very well on the ladder which led me to top 150 legend. Both options are great, armorsmith just gives edge in games against some decks.
I decided to share the deck I made for intermediate players. Its primary purpose is to help players with the knowledge of the control warrior playstyle reach legend from ranks 1-5 or just steadily climb the legend ranks while having tons of fun! You can try it in other ranks too, but I would recommend going with patron warrior or priest if you want to climb faster until you start facing more skilled opponents.
I played Jeweled Scarab in Reno warrior for the first time and fell in love with that card. Playing them instead of Acolyte of Pain is a great choice against slower decks and they do their role against aggro as well. Discover mechanic is the most fun mechanic ever and can actually win you games!
I'm not a fan of fatigue decks that are out there only to counter control decks. We have a ton of anti aggro tools. 2x Revenge and 2x Brawl are a must in this meta in my opinion. If we don't use them in a game against control, they will become legendaries by Elise Starseeker.
Nefarian and Nexus-Champion Saraad are fun and very viable choices in this deck that have a good chance of winning you games by themselves. I live for the moments where we get a Sacrificial Pact from Nefarian and instantly win a game against Lord Jaraxxus! If you really want to replace those, you can go for a card with a similar cost.
Be smart! Don't play your turns too fast. You have many choices to make while playing control warrior and you will get punished when making mistakes. I guess that makes control decks more enjoyable.
If you want to learn more about the playstyle of this deck, ask some question or just enjoy quality fun games in legend or arena, you can check out my stream www.twitch.tv/urkoth
Our legendary friend Nat played a very fun game and showed why Saraad is considered a mini ysera and the reason why I love that card so much.
Khristophesaurus had some fun games where he won a control warrior mirror without drawing justicar and took zoo to fatigue because you can do it with this deck if you wanna!
Go for Nefarian PRKSlayer, I got to rank 1 with Nefarian version but needed to improve the secret paladin matchup. When you only face zoo and secret paladins, deathwing is the answer and thats what I faced at high ranks yesterday, not a single control deck.
Why do not use Grommash Hellscream and Dr. Boom?
They don't need anymore?
They are great ImportedCow, but I chose to play other cards instead of them. Try it, I got legend with it yesterday!
Thanks for reply =)
I will try it
Not sure if you already answered this when asked by other people, but, out of curiosity, do you have any recommendations to replace nexus champion that is not ysera or sylvannas? (unfortunately don't have them yet)
Harrison Jones :P
I haven't played with this deck yet but I'm about to. I noticed you only run 1x Fiery War Axe and wanted to know why you do that. Also, I don't have Nexus-Champion Saraad or Ysera, as people recommend this card as a replacement. I wanted to see your take on what I should do to replace Saraad. You mentioned a 5 drop card so I was thinking Loathab.
I want to know what your opinion with that swap is. I will also update my comment based on how I do with this deck but I'm tired of playing so many games while never touching control so I'm looking forward to this deck.
This issue I'm running into with this deck is that in order to keep up with the meta I'm burning through my hand pretty fast to keep fatigue a possibility in winning. Eventually towards the end, if I want to win by fatiguing I have barely any cards in my deck and I'm topdecking to stay afloat. I think it could use some draw engines other than discovering cards or shuffling a golden monkey. What's your take on it?
The deck is working great in this current form SteezyRen. Since you want more drawing and youre missing Saraad, try Harrison.
Well Coldplay3R, if you're 6-0 with it, it means it's working out for you! I've never played Tomb Spiders in my decks, but if you're going with them, might as well craft them golden because they look amazing that way!
Inspiring others to play something different on the ladder and climb efficiently with it than playing the pesky combo druid, face shaman, secret paladin and zoo decks is all I want. Good job realmou, you're becoming the champion!
This deck is beyond amazing, having a real blast with it. Not only it's hella fun, but you're able to bounce back from what was looking like a sure defeat and have the opponent concede.
Yea, get ready for some glorious victories like that one, Darkis! Glad you like it.
I cannot seem to pull a win with this deck(similar deck[-Nexus Champ, Gorehowl, armorsmith/+Loatheb, Hellscream, FWA]). Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but at lower ranks(10-17) starting this season I am getting eaten up by Zoo, combo druid, priest, and control warr... and not much better than 50% against face hunter, tempo mage. hand lock
I'm sure its my own play style errors, but I'd like to figure out what my issue is. I'd love to be able to reach near legend and not have to resort to my usual combo druid. Any tips would be appreciated.
Well, first, youre playing a different deck Sokane. Enjoy learning control warrior and watch streamers who play it. And don't run Loatheb in it.
It is very different than anything I'm used to... but i look forward to a slower paced game. I'll pull Loatheb and work on gathering up the last few dust for Nexus Champion...
I just feel like I'm constantly getting behind in hp(even with armor) and am not able to maintain my board. Ah well. Guess practice makes perfect. I'll work on it
Loving this deck, I swap Nexus-Champion Saraad for Ysera and it´s working great!
Glad to hear it Turiru, you decided to go full ysera, Saraad is sometimes called mini-ysera!
Hi Titan,
over all great deck! I've been playing it now since a week with a lot of games an this deck feels great to play. Just when i thought CW was dead, i stumbled upon your deck and was amazed how well it works and how much fun it is to play.
One thing though which totally screws up my gameplan is when my opponent drops Deathlord. Since it is usually also a heavy control deck it is really bad when the lord draws out my Justicar, or Elise. Basically every card except Sludge, Armorsmith and maybe Saraad is bad without its battlecry. I've come to the point that i aggressively mulligan for Elise and Justicar when I know I am up against Control (Priest, Warrior). Sometimes it's Aggro Warrior or Dragon Priest, in which case the game becomes very hard but in the other cases i really want my crucial Battlecry Cards in my hand for when he drops Deathlord.
Do you by any chance have an advice for playing against this?
regards,
Schmuv
Thank you Shmuvness and that's a good question! You can't control what you get from deathlords. I do keep justicar and Elise in my starting hand against priest though! So, accept that you can't control some things but we're pretty much in a solid spot against priest usually. I haven't seen many priests on the ladder lately.
Thanks for your reply.
I have another question: I feel that Sylvanas would be almost perfect for this deck. Im considering a couple of cards to cut so i can put her in. What would you cut for Sylvanas and what do you think of her in general for this i.e. what was your reason not to include her in the first place?
