Hi guys, this is a small test I'm currently making. I pretty much love the Shaman class but not a big fan of the aggro/burst version. This is a pretty interesting and synergistic deck. It has a really good early game similar to the aggro/burst version but with a few tweaks here and there, continuing with a strong high curve of efficient minions such as Fire Elemental and Dr. Balance.
Give it a shot and give me some suggestions. To my defense I thought of adding a Bloodlust but I'm not that sure it would fit in perfectly since it might be an awkward draw most of the time.
So leave comments with suggestions please. It's the start of the season and now is the time for experiments.
EDIT:
So guys thanks to your feedback I managed to make some modifications and fit in some cards that you have recommended.
1)We'll start with Bloodlust; i have also noticed that in most games i tend to have a really good board control and not really that much damage on board, so bloodlust offers a boost that helps push in some much needed damage to either win the game or make some really favorable trades (worst case scenario).
2) I really felt the need to add a singleton Earth Shock. This card is pretty versatile and can have many uses. Currently we can all see a lot of secret paladin on ladder. Using earth shock we can both deal with high buffed minions with Blessing and kings, and can also help in the cases of Tirion ( a secondary solution, the first being Hex). Plus I still see a few Reno locks and very occasionally handlocks, and earth shocking a Twilight drake is huge value. Also good for mad scientists, shielded minibots and even belchers if needed.
3) Swapping a Crackle for a Lightning Bolt. This is more of a personal preference. I recommend this deck to be played with 2 low mana removals. You can do it however you would like, either 2 Crackle or 2 Lightning Bolt or 1 Crackle and 1 Lightning Bolt. It's up to you how you mix it up, as I said this is more of a personal reference.
TLDR: -1 Mana Tide Totem => +1 Earth Shock; -1 Crackle => +1 Lightning Bolt; -1 Sludge Belcher => +1 Bloodlust
Again guys, thanks for all the support and feedback, this is actually my first deck posted on Hearthpwn and I am amazed of the community how it supports its self. I will constantly post updates and I will do my best to transition this deck into standard when the new format hits the live servers. Good luck on the ladder!
1 for 6 with this deck. Really not feeling it so far. If I don't get a perfect curve early on (which is very hard with overload cards) then I'm struggling to keep anything on the board later in the game.
Is there a place for Al'Akir?
Not a Tier 1 deck but I've had a lot of fun with it. It's a good break from Patron Warrior and Combo Druid. I've won about ~75% of my games with it as of now. I didn't feel like crafting 2x Feral Spirit so I added in +1 Mind Control Tech and +1 Silver Hand Regent. They're somewhat odd choices but MC Tech is the MVP of so many games for me. SHR was nice to have because I ended up using my hero power a lot and it started to pick up good value. It also helped that I had golden versions of both cards.
Bloodlust seemed to be the correct choice over Sludge Belcher in the majority of games, in fact it was the finisher in ~1/3 of my games. SHR provided an extra minion or two in most cases which let me hit for 15+ damage multiple times.
All in all, it's a pretty solid deck. Like I said earlier, it's not a top-tier choice but with time it could get you pretty high in ranked. Glad to see cool cards like Thunder Bluff Valiant getting some use.
Cheers mate!
best replace for brann he isnt needed? :D
What do you mean with "he isnt needed"?
Brann synergizes with 11 cards in this deck. He is REALLY needed. And for a replace, I'd go for another Antique Healbot, but that's just a personal preference.
ive played around 15 to 20 games with this deck and felt i never really got any value from brann (unless used with the healbot).
So I just tried this deck out and I have to say, it's pretty good, better then any other Shaman deck I have played. I ran over a Reno lock and Mech mage with ease. Though I did make a couple of changes to it just to try and they seemed to work well.
#1 I took out the Shredders and replaced them with Fireguard Destroyers. I know the shredder is a good card no doubt, however this is anything from a Yeti to a 7/6 on turn 4. IT's a huge threat that needs to be dealt with and I feel has more impact then the shredder. Drawback of course is you are adding a little more Overload to the deck.
#2 I took out Brann, there is not enough battlecry in the deck to really make max use of him. Instead I dropped in a Bloodmage Thalnos. This can give me a turn 3 4 - 7 damage Crackle for taking care of possible larger early threats like a Druid dropping a bear.
#3 I can see where Blood lust can be good. Both games I had a fair amount of minions on the board. However, it's not hard to win without it. I put in a Lava Shock to help with locked crystals in it's place and it's helped.
#4 I put in a second Crackle over Lightning bolt. I don't know why you would use Bolt over crackle seeing as Crackle IS bolt but with more damage potential. It has more flexibility and can have more late game impact.
#5 I have not played enough to make this change yet, but I am wondering if there are Better options for Thunder Bluff Valiant. In the games I played I never really used them and they are more a turn 7 drop and this deck plays more like a midrange. I might looking into better 5 drops maybe even 6 seeing as there is only 2 6 drops in the deck. Sylvanas and The Emperor come to mind. Maybe even the Mist Caller. Time will tell.
You literally made another deck. This you're talking about is not Totem Shaman, but Midrange Shaman.
I have tried this deck yesterday in my stream. And it went pretty well to be honest especially against aggro decks.
As a matter of fact i have top decked some cards just in time to get the pressure and i even haven't tried the bloodlust and didn't get any value from Brann. Deck looks solid and i think this deck deserves a chance for ladder climbing.
Haha I really liked the video man! Keep up the good work, and I love your "Scrublord" handle haha good theme going on there ;)
dosent work in curent meta... not for me at lest...but if your lucky...who knows...this game it's about luck anyway..
Shaman was my first golden hero too. Your ponts are very good and i Agree with you.
Yo dudes, I made a video about the deck. Totem shaman is back and it's ready to do some crazy combo shit, you want some BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GODS, you have Bloodlust, you want some totem damage, welp you have Thunder Bluff Valiant. Check out the video I commentate on my plays and improve every time, so leave a comment and enjoy.
Fun deck to play when just trying to finish up some quests. No idea how it would do for climbing the ladder, but it is fun with a high enough winrate for a casual player. Thanks!
No love for Flametongue Totem?
Edit: I've been playing this on rank 12...it works really well against Control (Priest is a wonderful matchup), but I'm constantly losing to aggro decks
What rank hace you reached and what is your in rate? I have hard time with a similar deck at rank 15
Great deck for the initial climb but I was stopped dead in my tracks at Rank 8. I believe I was 22-8 and after several games at r8-r7 I ended up hanging up my totems at 30-21 for a 59% winrate. This deck is punished by your opponent drawing aoe. It's very hard to come back after board clears. Also the deck most definitely runs out of steam in many matches. You have to be extremely vigilant when it comes to tempo and trading or you'll find yourself praying to Ben Brode that you draw a Lightning Storm to buy a couple more turns.
youll get a lucky streak to about 6 then this deck hits the meta wall. I've ran variations of it since midrange first started.
