PROOF OF LEGEND:
VIDEO EXPLANATION:
GAME PLAN:
We have a Tempo Mage here, so we need to gain as much Tempo as possible while being as aggro as possible, thanks to the extra mileage of the Ice Block for its main effect (of having us not die once) and the collateral effect: the mistakes that the opponent will make during the game, not really knowing what this secret will be.
You see, when people play an underpar turn, trying to proc our secret, playing crappy minions/spell, they are doing the correct play. But if we have an Ice Block out, they'll waste their turn in vain. All the while we build up Tempo and board presence. Or we shoot them in the face with our burn spell. Or both!
Play for Tempo, remove minions efficiently and let the PEW PEW begin!
CARD CHOICES:
This time around I'll go over only the "unconventional" choices
Really strong opening vs many classes paired with a Mana Wyrm and a Coin. Protects our board from weapons/minions and lets us unleash the sinergy of our deck. Often gaining a single turn could be game winning and don't forget that decks like a ZooLock that is a little behind could have trouble removing them efficiently. Playing Archmage Antonidas followed by this, gives you the first Fireball and could protect our Fireball's Santa from the minions that are trying to kill him.
There it is, the star of the deck. The Playmaker. The MVP. Just thinking the faces of our opponents while they struggle to guess which damn secret hides the little purple dot, makes my smile grow wider every second they spend wondering. Countless times the opponent tries to proc the secret with a crappy minion or an useless spell. You know what makes me happier? When they realize (usually too late for them) that is an Ice Block and they have thrown away their winning condition AND their turns trying to guess. But you know what makes me REALLY happy? When I play another secret and they start the guessing work all over again. Also pretty much guarantess the value of both Mad Scientist having 3 different Secrets in the deck. Yay!
SUBS:
The only substitutions that I could advise are this ones:
1x Mirror Image ► 1x Arcane Blast
if you really feel like you need some spells to board control early in the game.
1x Ice Block ► 1x Duplicate / 1x Effigy
if you don't own one or you simply don't want to run it. They can have a similar effect on the guessing works of your opponents, but they do have a negative synergy with the early game minions and 0/2 images... run them at your own risk.
MULLIGAN STRATEGY:
Try your best to have the smoothest mana curve possible. Try to exploit the Coin with the Flamewaker or Mana Wyrm synergy, or in the worst case with Archmage Antonidas to create an extra Fireball
Always keep Mad Scientist and Mana Wyrm
Vs Shamans, Druids, Mages, Paladins and Warlocks keeping also a Frostbolt to kill the early minions is also advisable.
MATCH UPS:
This is the record of my win rate from rank 4 3 stars to Legend. Yay for a meta full of Druids and Secret Pally to wreck really hard!
If you have any question feel free to post in the comments and I'll answer everyone asap, and don't forget to leave a like on the deck or on any of my socials! See you around ;)
long game vs priest whith 2 emtomb...pain in the ass
force them to use their removals on semiuseless minions and keep your burn spells to oneshot him... but yeah Euck Fntomb :P
Its good if you hit your dream draw.
or if you make the best out of your hand anyway ;) keep playing and gl hf!
Is it me, or does the video have no audio? Could be because I'm on mobile?
Probably your audio is low cause I'm pretty sure the video as audio xD gl hf
Antonidas wins you the game if left unchecked vs control decks, conjurer doesn't. You can't really compare them :) gl hf
Yes, because Antoindas is a win-condition.
You usually play him with one or two spells, granting X amounts of Fireballs. Even after that your opponent HAS to remove it the next turn or LOSE outright.
What does Conjurer so? It does bugger all. It's a bad card.
Started from rank 20 last night and not doing too bad. Currently 43-26 with double [card]mirror entity[/card] and the Counterspell as the secrets. Sitting at rank 11 right now gonna keep pushing some more seems double [card]mirror entity [/card]worked better than Ice Block did for now.
At low ranks people don't really play around anything so it's hard playing on tricking them xD keep trying! gl hf
I was using this and secret pally up to rank 3, but then I started losing with both of them, so I started using Anyfin and Im almost to rank 2. 2 more days left to hit legend :x
This should be amazing if you find a lot of druids shamans and secretdins cause you wreck them hard! Keep trying! Gl hf
How do you beat Secret Paladins?
They've been my issue all day I finally added a flamesrike and took out flame cannon
mill aggressively for the early game (wyrm, scientists, missiles and the rest) and try to wrestle the board and keep it. you need to find the right moment to become the aggressor and rush him down! gl hf
Yeah, sorry man. This is a fun deck but it has nothing to answer any face/aggro deck. I'm 1-11 in my last 12 games with this deck because they've all been some form of aggro/face.
It does really well against midrange or decks that are non-aggro though.
EDIT: 1-12 now. Just played a face hunter. Every minion I played got immediately removed and I couldn't keep up with his board control. I think this deck needs a Flamestrike or a Blizzard.
I've replaced one UP with Flamestrike and one UP with Forgotten Torch. Going to see how that works.
At what rank? Adapt the tech card to what you're facing and you should be able to at least keep a decent WR. Analyse the mistake you've done each game. Even if the deck sucked there's no way you went 1-12 without making a mistake. It's a tempo deck so provided that you mulligan right you should be able to get a 70% WR against Aggro shammy for exemple. Tempo mage require a minimum of thinking. I'm tired of seeing people blame everything on the deck while in fact someone got legend with it. The problem is the mistakes you make while playing it. ;)
Sadly this deck should perform excellently vs Face Shaman and other super aggro decks... face hunter is the only one that causes problems if they have dream hands, because their hero power will give us an hard time, even with the ice block in the deck. review your strategy, make sure you make no mistakes and mulligan for the early game aggressively and play for tempo! keep trying (maybe in casual if you're scared of losing ranks) and you will succeed! gl hf
There is no way this deck performs well in its state in this post against extremely aggressive decks. I'm sorry but I just don't buy it. I swapped out UP for Flamestrike and the other UP for Forgotten Torch and I'm now 8-2. I can play reasonably conservative against aggro now and clear the board on 7.
And to the guy above who asked at what rank, I went from 9 all the way back to 13 with this deck before I swapped out the two UP.
