I want to thank you all for giving this deck a chance. Many fun games are being played, people are climbing the ladder very efficiently and even getting legend with it. I'm glad that I'm able to make the ladder a better place.
I called the deck at first as "Plan B", as I was playing warrrior the whole season(as you can see on the pic where I have 7 warrior decks ready for the ladder lol) but finished the road to legend with this deck from rank 3, when I fell there from rank 1. I now call it the GODLIKE Priest for a reason. I was always a fan of Auchenai Soulpriest and Circle of Healing combo but somehow this deck performed incredibly with 2x Escavated Evil instead(to be honest I had doubts about this card before).
Everyone who tried this deck told me it's amazing so I wanted to share the awesomeness. The deck is both fun and viable at the same time and that's what I want from this game. I want to hear your oppinions guys too!
You can ask any question on my stream, or just enjoy it and post some memes, where I teach both arena and constructed every day www.twitch.tv/urkoth
Our man of mission Kristophesaurus did a gameplay video of it and I'm very thankful for that. Give him some love in return, he's restlessly giving us love in form of uploading the videos every day
Nat played a game against a face pally in legend and proved that you don't need the extra healing against face decks
MATCH-UPS and MULLIGANS
Hunter: Easy - The only hunters you will probably meet are the face ones. Get your zombie chows and northshire clerics in your starting hand. You can even keep the shadow word pain for the juggler. Deathlord is a good keep with the coin especially. Win the game with the early minions, even though the justicar is the only extra heal, early minions and taunts will win the game.
Mage:
Freeze - Hardcore: Ugh, we dont have extra heals and they dont care about the board control. We cant manipulate with their minions and our attrition style can't apply enough pressure. When they get to the late game they will just easily burst us. Try to deny them the draw and put your hopes into curators.
Tempo: Easy-Normal Should be very easy if they dont have Mana Wyrm on turn 1. Your deathlords can be a tough thing for them to deal with, especially when you buff them. If the deathlords survive until turn 6, you should be able to easily remove anything it comes out of them.
Druid: Easy - Normal: That curve cheating can be quite frustrating. But we should be still fine unless they really have an unstoppable hand. ALWAYS try to control the board and remove their minions. You will often be in a spot when you gotta play around double combo in the late game which is 22 damage but you should be fine. I farmed too many druids with this deck.
Shaman: Easy -There's only one shaman, the SMOrc one. Get your early game and mulligan for shadow word pain beside early minions to deal with his Totem Golem. Your taunts will win you the game. Heal face over minions from mid-late game
Paladin: Easy-Normal - Most of them will be the new secret eboladins. Try to guess secrets, entomb Tirion and boom unless youre forced to entomb dr 6. Deathlords should stop the early aggression. Your AoE spells will easily deal with his stuff. You can lose if you have a bad early game and he draws perfectly and then gets tirion turn 4 from your deathlord. But even then, theres a solid chance you'll win.
Murloc: Hardcore - Sad life. The deck is designed to punish you for playing fun decks like control warrior and priest and loses to aggro decks. Try to entomb their Murk-eye and one Warleader. Try to make them overdraw and if you somehow make them overdraw Anyfin Can Happen, you won the game.
Priest: Normal - Play cleric on turn 1, if you velen's chosen it on turn three or 2 with coin, you won the game. DON'T have two clerics on the field! Elise often gives the golden monkey value in this game which leads to some fun games!
Rogue: Easy-Normal - Really? Rogue is a good match-up for priest? This one can handle Valeera. They will have rough time dealing with deathlords and velen's chosen will get some nice value. Entomb the drakes if you cant deal with them. Escavated evil is pretty good here too!
Warlock:
Zoo - Easy: Early minions into AoE spells = GG. Imp gang bosses and Eggs are the best Cabal target.
Renolock - Normal: Such an annoying deck. Shrink + Cabal is very powerful on their twillight drake. So many entomb targets, I believe in your judgement. They may even have the 20-24 dmg combo, so be careful. I played only one game against the traditional demon handlock which I absolutely dominated.
Warrior
Control: Easy-Normal - Just get to Elise near fatigue. You can draw cards because of her but don't do it too much, find a balance. Get annoying deathrattle minions like Cairne or Sylvanass from curators. Entomb his sylvannas and ysera.
Patron: Easy - Dont let them have the early pressence and deny them the card draw. If they can't apply big pressure with tempo, they can't win the game.
No idea how this works. I've played this probably 25 times and never drawn the card I need to change my deck to legendaries and I've milled through my whole deck. Is there some kind of synergy I am missing?
The Golden Monkey stage is there as kind of a last resort, when you're playing to the end of the deck and are in need of late game (note that the deck contains *no* late game at all). It happens in maybe 10% of the games you play, if that, in this toxic as shit meta. But it's fun when it happens. You usually don't want to start Monkey until your Entombs and at least some of the other removal are used up, but in the rare case where you draw your deck fast, an early Monkey might be the right play. I think I did that like one time in hundreds of games.
A couple of times I've outplayed and outvalued warriors down to the Monkey phase, but they just happen to get much more wicked legendaries than I do, even though I have 3-5 more of them. Sucks when that happens, but the gods of RNG are fickle.
Just started my monthly climb again, and this deck is chewing through the ranks quickly. 71%, 12 game win streak, etc:
For the record this deck sucks ass against zoo, its just too slow
Will be sure to try this deck out. Any replacement for the 2nd Cabal?
Opened a pack and got Cabal , brawl pack. FeelsGoodMan always lucky
Nice!
Control warrior seems like a good match.
- play Chow and Curator early. Curator's great for using up weapon charges. Sticky deathrattle minions from Curators will help a lot.
- hold onto your removal until you need it. If you have multiple forms of removal to choose from (frequently the case), try to balance it so that you have equal shares of minions and removal left to play.
- keep in mind the Deathlord + Lightbomb/Entomb combo. Putting two Deathlords up can be really bad for them, assuming you're holding the Entomb/SWD/LB contingencies.
- it really comes down to how you play Golden Monkey. You don't want to play it too soon. Wait until you've repadded your deck by entombing good targets.
- if they play Elise, consider Entombing it if you've got removal to spare. The extra map you'll get puts you yet another step ahead when fatigue comes.
- Justicar ASAP. Don't worry if he's just going to eat it with a War Axe. Don't Golden Monkey w/o Justicaring first.
Started using this deck a few days ago. Went quite well for around 20 games.
And that's where it ended. I have never had such a bad losing streak - getting around 10% win rate. I am getting completely wrecked by everything except warriors and hunters.
Right now, on NA, I'm 2-8 on rank 15. Even if I draw perfectly, I end up getting wrecked.
I'm achieving great results around the same ranks NA, aside from the 3 Anyfin pallies this has been shutting stuff down. Warriors, Druids, and Zoolocks are on my ladder right now, and this deck is handling those.
Thank you, bro. Awesome deck! But Elise Starseeker is very unpredictable for me and it's remove all control spells. So I replaced it for a Confessor Paletress
Just because you draw monkey doesn't mean you have to play monkey. Get board control then play monkey. Although in most cases monkey alone is enough board control.
In the past control decks slotted 4-5 legendaries as a win con and you won the game with 5 cards left or whatever. Now you still get 4-5 legendaries but can fill your deck with better creatures and spells.
If you are just talking about a win con I could see Paletress doing work and MAYBE comparing but Elise also is a 3/5 body on a turn where you often need to put something on a board.
Thats a common mistake people do with this deck. Key is to outvalue your opponent after he used his biggest threads. Often you should wait till your opponent plays his threads, remove them and only after that play monkey on unplayable cards like Cleric/Chow/already usless buff spells or removals. Infact Confessor Paletress is slower than Elise because it doesn't provide you early game body that you need so much.
This deck is unbelievable. Up until now, I've been playing a similar non-Auchenai deck inspired by the old Chinese priest decks:
http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/400268-loe-chinapriest
After bumping into some inconsistency with it, I decided to give Godlike a try. I didn't have a lot of confidence in it, because my Chinese deck had an absurd (~80%) winrate against it, but that's only because I play a f-ton of priest and understand the mirror pretty well. After falling from rank 4 to 9 with my deck, I picked up Godlike and am running 63% wins back up to rank 4. One big surprise for me was how good this deck was vs. Renolock and secret pally, the two decks I was tilting with on my fall down to rank 9.
I completely underestimated how good Excavated Evil is. It entirely makes up for the missing Auch-Circle, especially considering how Velen's makes it the very same 4-damage nuke to all - but unlike Auch, you don't need the combo to make it good. Furthermore, since this deck doesn't flood the board, you don't care much that the opponent can play it back on you. And when they do, the way you get the card back (and get to xform it into a legendary with Elise, potentially) makes me think this card is my favorite from LoE, more than Curator.
I'm *really* gonna miss Velen's Chosen in Standard, when it comes. Hopefully the new expansion adds some kind of similar buff, or maybe a mini-Temple Enforcer.
There will be a lot of cards, we shall see. Thanks, glad you like the deck MehYam
yeah excavated evil is great vs. aggro because not only do you wipe them, generally speaking aggro does not want to draw cards like that and they definitely don't want to play it and give you another board wipe and to boot you have very few targets. Worst case if you're playing against control it's monkey fodder (which isn't great but count it as drawing your dr.boom on T1 or whatever in terms of deck comp and control will give you the time you need).
Anyway, agree on this deck being super awesome.
It's an ok replacement but I think we need justicar
2 mana heal 4 is absurd. It usually buys you many, many turns when used on yourself and the dream is healing a buffed dreadlord and just munching on their dudes.
To boot she is a 6 damage body so even aggro is timid about leaving her on board which saves you even more damage and gets you later into the game.
Also the T10 double hero power thing to heal for 6 comes up a lot and it has definitely swung games for me.
Hey Titan. What would you think about adding a Harrison for a belcher or cabal? I am facing quite a lot of warriors and aggro shamans right now.
