I want to thank you all for giving this deck a chance. Many fun games are being played, people are climbing the ladder very efficiently and even getting legend with it. I'm glad that I'm able to make the ladder a better place.
I called the deck at first as "Plan B", as I was playing warrrior the whole season(as you can see on the pic where I have 7 warrior decks ready for the ladder lol) but finished the road to legend with this deck from rank 3, when I fell there from rank 1. I now call it the GODLIKE Priest for a reason. I was always a fan of Auchenai Soulpriest and Circle of Healing combo but somehow this deck performed incredibly with 2x Escavated Evil instead(to be honest I had doubts about this card before).
Everyone who tried this deck told me it's amazing so I wanted to share the awesomeness. The deck is both fun and viable at the same time and that's what I want from this game. I want to hear your oppinions guys too!
You can ask any question on my stream, or just enjoy it and post some memes, where I teach both arena and constructed every day www.twitch.tv/urkoth
Our man of mission Kristophesaurus did a gameplay video of it and I'm very thankful for that. Give him some love in return, he's restlessly giving us love in form of uploading the videos every day
Nat played a game against a face pally in legend and proved that you don't need the extra healing against face decks
MATCH-UPS and MULLIGANS
Hunter: Easy - The only hunters you will probably meet are the face ones. Get your zombie chows and northshire clerics in your starting hand. You can even keep the shadow word pain for the juggler. Deathlord is a good keep with the coin especially. Win the game with the early minions, even though the justicar is the only extra heal, early minions and taunts will win the game.
Mage:
Freeze - Hardcore: Ugh, we dont have extra heals and they dont care about the board control. We cant manipulate with their minions and our attrition style can't apply enough pressure. When they get to the late game they will just easily burst us. Try to deny them the draw and put your hopes into curators.
Tempo: Easy-Normal Should be very easy if they dont have Mana Wyrm on turn 1. Your deathlords can be a tough thing for them to deal with, especially when you buff them. If the deathlords survive until turn 6, you should be able to easily remove anything it comes out of them.
Druid: Easy - Normal: That curve cheating can be quite frustrating. But we should be still fine unless they really have an unstoppable hand. ALWAYS try to control the board and remove their minions. You will often be in a spot when you gotta play around double combo in the late game which is 22 damage but you should be fine. I farmed too many druids with this deck.
Shaman: Easy -There's only one shaman, the SMOrc one. Get your early game and mulligan for shadow word pain beside early minions to deal with his Totem Golem. Your taunts will win you the game. Heal face over minions from mid-late game
Paladin: Easy-Normal - Most of them will be the new secret eboladins. Try to guess secrets, entomb Tirion and boom unless youre forced to entomb dr 6. Deathlords should stop the early aggression. Your AoE spells will easily deal with his stuff. You can lose if you have a bad early game and he draws perfectly and then gets tirion turn 4 from your deathlord. But even then, theres a solid chance you'll win.
Murloc: Hardcore - Sad life. The deck is designed to punish you for playing fun decks like control warrior and priest and loses to aggro decks. Try to entomb their Murk-eye and one Warleader. Try to make them overdraw and if you somehow make them overdraw Anyfin Can Happen, you won the game.
Priest: Normal - Play cleric on turn 1, if you velen's chosen it on turn three or 2 with coin, you won the game. DON'T have two clerics on the field! Elise often gives the golden monkey value in this game which leads to some fun games!
Rogue: Easy-Normal - Really? Rogue is a good match-up for priest? This one can handle Valeera. They will have rough time dealing with deathlords and velen's chosen will get some nice value. Entomb the drakes if you cant deal with them. Escavated evil is pretty good here too!
Warlock:
Zoo - Easy: Early minions into AoE spells = GG. Imp gang bosses and Eggs are the best Cabal target.
Renolock - Normal: Such an annoying deck. Shrink + Cabal is very powerful on their twillight drake. So many entomb targets, I believe in your judgement. They may even have the 20-24 dmg combo, so be careful. I played only one game against the traditional demon handlock which I absolutely dominated.
Warrior
Control: Easy-Normal - Just get to Elise near fatigue. You can draw cards because of her but don't do it too much, find a balance. Get annoying deathrattle minions like Cairne or Sylvanass from curators. Entomb his sylvannas and ysera.
Patron: Easy - Dont let them have the early pressence and deny them the card draw. If they can't apply big pressure with tempo, they can't win the game.
Been playing this deck for 20 games now (around rank 8-7) and I must say, it's awesome! It's extremely satisfying to have a good answer to secret paladin, and still have fun. I was sceptical at first (especially about Excavated Evil), but it seems like it can manage almost any deck. Besides, who doesn't love some Entomb and Museum Curator fun?
Really awesome Titan, keep up the good work.
Thank you JeSteel, wonderfully said!
Thank you for being awesome Calllen and trying the deck, with such great result so far! Keep rockin' broh!
Try second holy nova instead of lightbomb and try Toshley/Dr.boom/sylvannas/ysera instead of Justicar, zelwake. But find a way to craft them as soon as possible, especially the lightbomb!
Lightbomb is great for secret paladin specially and justicar for those aggro games where you need to recover your health. Is specially good against a hunter face. But if you like priest consider crafting them somehow.
I like zombie chowders ,Ggramdalf - having many 1 mana cards is great in priest, especially against aggro. Your point about no combo with auchenai is in place though but we're already favored against the weapon classes.
I keep losing to RenoMage. Can you give me some tips too help me in the match up at it might not be the deck but the way im playing the matches
Wait, you met more than one Reno Mage, StrikeForce? I haven't met any this season BUT I do have a tip bro! When they have a secret, expect it to be Duplicate . Make them duplicate a bad minion. Don't let them duplicate Archmage Antonidas , Ethereal Conjurer or Reno Jackson . Entomb them, especially Antonidas and Conjurer! The game might go to fatigue so be careful how many cards you draw. I won against them with other priest versions, this one should handle them well too!
Thanks for the help! Keep up the good work!
I went 15-9 with this deck, I've tracked down the games and this is it, with explanations on why I lost:
Druids 1-1:
(Coin) Lost against a druid when I was at 26 health and he only had his 2-3 keeper on the table and a 1-4 wrymrest agent that dropped out of a shredder. I had the game dominated and he already used one Force of Nature to clear my Deathlord but he had double combo within his 4 cards in hand. One more turn (I would have been able to clear and drop a belcher) and that would have been great. A bit salty, just a bit, but he drew a lot of cards, he had only 7-9 cards left on his deck so there was a chance for the double combo, just unexpected a 26+ burst.
(No coin) Won against a really weird druid that used the 1-1 Stonestusk boar and the 2-2 2 mana taunt. It could have been a free to play druid.
Hunters 4-0:
(No coin) Won against a face one. Only drew a taunt the entire game but I started with zombie chow and that made the difference with velen's chosen.
(Coin) Won against a face one. Good start from my side (also from his) but never drew an AOE. Still won.
(Coin) Won against a face one. No taunts the entire game (only one I think) but good start and good control with velen's.
(No coin) Won against a midrange one. Was able to make him to topdeck mode and justicar just allowed me to recover. He used kill command on my minions and when they do that, is all said.
Mage 1-1:
(No coin) Won against a mech mage. I was ahead the entire game and even played the monkey for fun (not for need).
(No coin) Lost against a mech mage. As a control deck i hate going first. I wasn't able to play anything until turn 4. He started with mana wyrm, coin, mechanical gnome, followed by mechwrapper followed by shredder (turn 3). Is impossible if they get all the tempo and you don't draw anything. A bit salty.
Paladin 0-2:
(No coin) Lost against a secret paladin. I was more or less dominating the game but I didn't draw the answers. No AOE, no power word shield to draw more cards, no cleric ... he had a pretty good curve.
(Coin) Lost against a secret paladin. I hated this game because he played on curve PERFECTLY. However I was able to clear EVERYTHING and ended being at 6 health with a clear board (1-1 haunted creeper on my side) while he had nothing on his board and nothing on his hand. His topdeck? Divine favour. It could have been anything else, I had entomb, excavated, but no, it was Divine favour when I had 5 cards. Also my initial draw wasn't very good. If we play on curve and we draw the cards we want this deck decimates paladins. Just bad luck. Very salty here.
Priest 2-2:
(No coin) Won against a weird druid that only played the 3-5 that gets +2 attack when someone is healed.
(No coin) Lost agains a control priest. My turn 1? nothing. His? cleric. My turn 2? Museum curator. His? coin + velen's. GG, he got all the tempo. Impossible to recover.
(No coin) Won against a dragon priest. He played on curve very well but I was able to clear his board. I overwhelmed him to be honest.
(Coin) Lost against dragon priest. His turn 1 cleric, mine? coin shrinkmeister for tempo. His turn 2 another cleric, mine? kill his cleric and heal myself (no 2 drop). His turn 3 velen's. From there he was able to get the answers for EVERYTHING. Even a shrinkmeister + cabal on 8 to steal my belcher + pw: shield. I didn't draw a SW death (for his velen's blackwing technician) or a SW pain (for his velen's cleric). Is frustrating when they play completely on curve :( I was salty here but not as salty as when I lost against the paladin.
Rogue 2-0:
(Coin) Won against a raptor rogue. Used shadow madness on his 3-4 raptor that copied the deathrattle from his shredder. That was a good swing.
(Coin) Won against a weird control-ish rogue with 2 assassinate.
Warlock 3-2:
(No coin) Lost against a renolock. Nothing to do here is a really unfavourable matchup. I'm never salty losing against renos because this is, maybe, a 20-80 matchup.
(No coin) Won against a renolock. He didn't draw reno, it was within his last 7 cards.
(No coin) Won against a warlock zoo.
(Coin) Lost against a warlock zoo. The deathlord gives him the doomguard. We also have 5 AOE and was only able to play 2 and the other 3 within my last 10 cards. He as really lo on health due to tapping. It sucks when you lost due to bad RNG. I hate the control priest because of this, the deathlord. I would play the 3-4 taunt from the warrior 1000 times before a deathlord (also hate when the deathlord gets keeper of uldaman'd). That's why sometimes I play a dragon priest that's like a control priest but with dragons but when you don't get the taunt activations there's nothing you can do. Is a shame but I need a bigger set of games to set how many times the deathlord won me the match and how many lost it.
(Coin) Won against a warlock zoo. He went straight to the face. A warlock zoo is supposed to fight for board control due to favourable trades but he gave it up on turn 3.
Warrior 2-1:
(Coin) Won against a control warrior. It was a weird one and was probably a F2P warrior.
(Coin) Lost against a control warrior. He ran Thaurissan (never saw it on a control warrior). Deathlord dropped Ysera and he was able to play Alex to burn me down when he had a deathsbite with one charge left. It was a lot of bad RNG but also some misplays on my side. I wasn't really salty because even without that ysera he could have won, by alexing me to 15 and then gromm + death'sbite so it was just a well played game from his side.
(Coin) Won against a patron warrior. I did read the game very well and was able to clear everything. He went to fatigue.
Summary:
7-5 with coin, 8-4 without the coin. The ones I lost without the coin was due to the coin giving the tempo advantage (velen's for example) to the opponent. The ones I lost with the coin was due to properly bad draw generally.
15-9 isn't a big set to get any conclusion, even more looking at some of the losses (0-2 against secret paladin that is normally a 60-40 on our favour) but is still a 62.5% winrate with some really bad RNG matches, well, more than RNG, draws, because this doesn't run any RNG other than the draw itself and the curator.
No shamans faced. No pun intended.
Wallack aka the NUMB3R5 guy! Numbers are great and I use them in some of my hobbies but decided not to use them in hearthstone for tracking. With such a bad RNG in those games you still had a solid positive winrate! There are guys who had who had 11-0 winstreak with this priest in higher ranks but not everyone can have it, based on skill and luck. Thank you friend, glad too see this info.
I use HS deck tracker and like to know what games I won and lost and why. Is very important to make choices. If I were losing due to needing, let's say, more taunts, or healing, or aoe, or control cards, is a good way to know it and then make changes in the deck. The only change I would make would be removing a excavated evil for a holynova (sometimes I had minions and needed a clear and didn't want to use excavated. And maybe a curator for a pyromancer.
The main problem I see in the deck is a good 2 drop and that was covered very well with the wyrmrest agent but you needed an activator. Will update when I have a bigger set of games :)
Massively fun deck. I am not winning "everything" but when I lose, I know exactly why that happened (and in most cases it is not RNG). I feel real helpless against renolocks though, can't seem to find a good way to kill them quickly and then they go Reno -> wait 2 turns -> Jaraxxus -> Mal'ganis and I am dead.
I dropped one of the cabals in favor of Confessor Paletress to have a more frightening endgame and it works but I lack the cabal :)
Dropping shrinks is not an option, they synergize not only with cabal but with Shadow Madness and Shadow Word: Pain as well.
I played against 2 handlocks so far, wrecked them both. Renolock is a strong anti-control deck but it's not unfavorable, cubituss! I played against one yesterday on stream, we were so hyped about getting 2x Thaddius (thanks entomb and curator) but he conceded before that unfortunately.
Maybe I was unlucky. Faced 3 renolocks yesterday (in ~20 games), lost all three.
But one more thing to add: although this deck is slow and tends to get close to fatigue, you make up for it by aggro decks conceding on turn 4 ;)
Rank 420 legend blaze it.
In some match-ups you can play shrinkmeister for tempo, Antonio. I like them 2 in the deck. Harrison sounds decent instead of belcher but we're already quite favored against every weapon class and belcher is good against druid. OTK murloc paladin is a deck created to beat fun control decks like control warrior and priest so yea, screw that deck.
Hey Titan.
I have a constant feeling that Cleric and Curator is not enough, and decklist is lacking carddraw. It just dries out if game goes beyond turn 10, and you didn't have a decent opportunity to draw with cleric or didn't draw any of them. Any suggestion what to replace?
Been thinking of two Acolyte of Pain instead of boring PW Shield, especially since they are excellent combined with Velen Chosen. Just not sure what to sacrifice for them.
Edit: Herp derp I can't read.
You can try them, but power word shield has always been an amazing card, especially with early buffs. You can get in the situation that you mentioned Jaggens, but it doesn't happen often. The list in this form is working amazingly for me and many others who said it in the comments. Cheers bro!
Okay, this is hillarious. I didn't get what you just meant, until I took another look at your decklist, which hasn't changed ever. Apparently, when copying it, my brain had a massive derp and I've put 2xCoH instead of 2xPW:Shield and been playing like that for like a day. I don't even know how a person who's been playing priest mainly for god knows how long can derp so hard.
So, yeah... This explains why I was feeling that draw is lacking. My bad.
