Sup guys,
first of all thanks for the positive feedback so far. This guide is just going to focus on the tech decisions and explains the general game strategy.
Basically this is a standard Midrange Hunter Deck just with more aggressive techcards. So your game strategy is to control the board early to midgame, until you can outrace your opponent with your Hero Power, the board you build up and direct Damage spells.
This deck does really well against all sorts of Aggro and Midrangedecks, but has a hard time against Controldecks like Renolock or Controlpriest.
Why Leper Gnome?
Leper Gnome can trade with a lot of 2 drops like Dark Peddler or Knife Juggler and when uncontested gives you nice face damage (+the dmg of the death rattle). And with its death rattle, Leper Gnome is also able to deal face dmg through taunts, which might come in handy.
Why 1 Webspinner?
Turn 1 Webspinner isn't even that strong of a play, since its stats are weak. But it works really well as an activator for Kill Command or Houndmaster. And a third 1Drop makes you curve out better.
Why Explosive Trap?
I think its really good against decks that flood the board. Also running 2 copys of it is kinda necessary to make sure that you draw a copy or get one out of Mad Scientist. It also stops the Druidcombo and often wins you the game if you play it before their turn 9. Furthermore people dont expect Explosive Traps in Midrange Hunter, so they often just go for face thinking it isFreezing Trap or Snake Trap.
Mulligans:
They really depent on what class you are facing and have been explained in several other Midrange Hunter Guides.
Gameplay:
Thanks to Khristophesaurus for the Gameplay Video.
_____
Deck works way better on ladder than any of the other midrange hunters currently around. I probably write a more detailed guide if this gets enough upvotes, but mulligan and general strategy is basically the standard of midrange hunter.
from 2500 to top 600 , cool list.
no way you got to legend with this deck, I tried a few games and lost all.
idk what you talkina bout
im rank 7 never played hunter in my life just made this deck for 3win hunter daily
played ranked
won all 3games with ease
Renolock is indeed a hard matchup, but secret pally is an autowin. My winrate was like 90% against secret paladin. If you always lose to them you do something significantly wrong.
Actually I had 100% winrate till I started to find secredin. Start with the wrong cards is lethal :(
But this is an interesting deck, 99% the same of every other aggro hunter. Useless to say "mid" only because there is Savannah Highmane. But it is an effective deck, I did a change (-1Houndmaster +1 Sludge Belcher) and now my winrate at rank 7 is 75%
All this midrange hunters are the same , even the beast master is the same old deck whit two or three techs
He's got explosives instead of freezes, and it makes a difference.
Midrange hunter one of my favorite decks of all time :D ! Aggressive yet still plays the mid-game and has awesome combos! Thanks for the share, some gameplay for you ;P !
It should do, generally hunter traps are replaceable. Remove an explosive trap for freezing if you want
Yes it can, but it is so easy to play around a Freezing Trap in this meta that I do not think it is good to use one or even two. And I dont like running three different traps, because you have no consistency in your Mad Scientist pulls then. And it doesn't work nearly as good as Explosive Trap against all the aggrodecks.
Yo dude, I made a video about the deck.
replacement for boom ?
This is going to sound strange, but maybe a Timber Wolf? This could open up a variety of combos that could really ruin your opponent's day on turn 7.
Golden Nat Pagle.
wargolem and two wisps kappa
I loled so hard at this.
Thau shall not replace thy Dr. Boom
I ended up cutting Boom to keep a lower curve so the deck transitions more into Face over Midrange in my Hybrid use. I replaced Dr Boom with Ram Wrangler. If you can get this out coin-turn 4 or on turn 5, with a beast, you can gain a huge Tempo swing over most desks with the extra beast summoned.
