Hey there! I'm Odemian a french pro-player from team Millenium.
I was having a bit of a hard time climbing ladder this season , so I decided to try some whacky stuff with the new LOE cards. It turned out Rafaam was actually not that bad, especially in paladin, which massively lacks burst damage. So I just stuck him in Lifecoach's Highlander Paladin, made a couple of other changes, and voilà!
I got to Legend [2] with the deck on the day of its creation (today :D) and I have to say that Rafaam MASSIVELY carried a couple of games where I felt pretty screwed. The deck behaves superbly well in almost all matchups, and Reno is incredibly OP versus all aggro and midrange decks.
I must repeat that most of the credit for this deck goes to Lifecoach, but I just thought it would be cool to share with you guys a deck where Rafaam actually works. I'll probably be writing a full guide to this deck at some point, but for the moment just try it out, and enjoy ;)
Emperor Thaurissan is probably your best bet, maybe Grand Crusader cause the extra card helps against control, not as well as sylvannas but can help as a replacement if you find thaurissan is not giving you enough of a discount, MAYBE Sunwalker if you are having more problem with aggro. i wish i could help more i'm having problems thinking of 6 drops.
Maybe Azure Drake or Blessing of Kings.
Quite a deck man, going nuts with it so far (6-0). I replaced Knife Juggler with Argent Lance however, I feel like without double Muster for Battle and the general slowness of the deck compared to other paladin lists Knife Juggler is almost always just a Bloodfen Raptor, and the Argent Lance just often buys enough time against more aggressive/midrange decks.
I think Argent Protector could also be a suitable replacement for knife juggler. I feel it helps you trade better and maintain a better board presence regardless of when its drawn.
Awesome deck! This deck is able to handle the Reno Locks that are infesting the ladder right now, which I had so much trouble dealing with prior.
I didn't have Sylvanas Windrunner, so I replaced it with Enter the Coliseum instead and it does wonders. You're also right about Arch-Thief Rafaam, as it works really well with this deck. The artifacts discovered make it so much easier to finish the game.
I climbed back to Rank 10 after a heavy drop from Rank 8 to 11. I'll continue playing this deck, thanks a lot and I hope to see your guide soon!
Well, I'd need replacement for the Piloted Sky Golem and the Lay on Hands. Any idea?
I think Lay on Hands is quite irreplaceable. As for Piloted Sky Golem, any decent 6-drop should do the trick: Justicar Trueheart, Emperor Thaurissan, even Cairne Bloodhoof...
i don't have kelthuzad what to put pls .?
Love the deck, thank you for sharing! I made the following changes and have had luck so far: -1 acolyte -1 skygolem + 1 sir finley mrrgglton +1 justicar trueheart
I just have to say that this was a legit climb as it was streamed, and the deck seemed very powerful at that time.
I switched out the Tuskar and the Sky Golem for Stalagg and Feugen. Is this good or not?
I think this is a good idea. However i've found that my opponents usually have a way to deal with this duo (silencing one of them, big game huntering thadius, keeper of uldaman him to a 3/3, etc). So in my opinion the sky golem body + the chance of a heal from tuskar is better. This is only in my experience/opinion however. I think its still a pretty good/fun idea :)
Thx for the replys, its working pretty good for me, hope for you too :) y bgh etc. is rly annoying in this case but then you still have all your other big minions , for me its more of an extra boost even if its going down to removel :) k wasnt a silence bug ^^ just bad thinking of me
This is a really great deck, it remains strong throughout the course of the game and has very few issues with card draw from what I have played of it. My only issue is that there is only one, possibly two if you include Arch-Thief Rafaam's Timepiece of Horror, crowd control spell that makes it somewhat difficult to quickly stabilize against more aggressive deck. Overall, this is the funnest deck, that is still viable, I have played in a long time.
thanks for deck, it's amazing, but i have probably vs mechmage, he most hard matchup for me, face sham i have winrate (23-2) ^^
tirion can be replayced ?
He is just auto-include in any form of paladin except aggro. I still can't find a good replacement for him. Probably start saving my dust.
Um....This deck really struggles against aggro....and plus about 90% of the time Tuskarr ends up being a blank 5/5....Neverlucky :(
Thanks so much for this deck! Been bored with ranked and having trouble forming a fun deck that can win, always enjoy playing paladin. It's competitive even in the crappy ranks I"m in (mid teens) and I love driving all the aggro goofballs nuts with Reno, heal bot, Lay on Hands, etc. Most fun I've had in a while!
I dont have Piloted Sky Golem, can I sub it with either Emperor Thaurissan or Elise Starseeker? Which would be a better choice?
