Hello, my name's Alex, a several times Legendary HearthStone player, and here's my new Control Hunter deck! Follow the guide below on this deck and watch a deck tech video just here:

Intro:

Hunter class in HearthStone was always a more 'smOrc'-ish type, but with the release of League of Explorers and new discovery mechanics, Control Hunter became possible with quite a success on ladder. Enjoy! :)

Updates:

  • 12/13: Added Hunter's Mark and Ragnaros the Firelord. Removed one Antique Healbot and one Sludge Belcher. Reason: deck needs more removals and late game presence, While discovery can provide a late-game plays, moreover deck needs more consistent finishers out there.
  • 12/12: as promised, the deck description is updated with detailed matchups and VODs. Have fun!
  • 12/12: Wow the blew up! Thanks a lot for the support! I'm working on a detailed matchup descriptions and some VODs of the games!
  • 12/08: As said in the video, replaced Steamwheedle Sniper with Sir Finley Mrrgglton - search for Druid, Mage or Priest hero powers.

Some explanations on how to play:

General Mulligan Strategy:

Detailed Matchup Strategy:

  • Secret Paladin (40% winrate): tough matchup (since Secret Paladins are OP as hell). We need to have board control since turn 1, and make him trade his minions into ours. Flare should be used on 2+ secrets, effectively after paladin plays the Mysterious Challenger. Discover some AoE (e.g. Powershot or Unleash the Hounds). Sir Finley Mrrgglton into druid's Shapeshift is a perfect scenario. Otherwise, get the Lesser Heal or Armor Up.
  • Tempo Mage (75% winrate): pretty easy if you get a nice start and will have a Flare to remove the Mirror Entity. Trade efficiently, get the Stampeding Kodo to remove the Flamewaker.
  • Freeze Mage (90% winrate): just get the Flare (use to get the lethal) and DO NOT play Sir Finley Mrrgglton - we need our own Steady Shot to win this. Use Antique Healbot only if below 15 HP.
  • Druid (60% winrate): just always play as they have Force of Nature+Savage Roar in hand and you will be fine. Use Kodo's to kill the Shade of Naxxramas or Keeper of the Grove.
  • Priest (Control, Dragon, Entomb, 50% winrate): can be pretty nasty in case you miss the RNG on Discovery - we need Kill Command or other burst damage to finish this quickly. Use Stampeding Kodo to get rid of Deathlord fast and gain board advantage.
  • Agro Shaman (40% winrate): just pray that he'll have a bad hand. Try Sir Finley Mrrgglton into some heals/pings, and clear the board in any possible way. Antique Healbot will help a lot here as well.
  • Rogue (Oil/Miracle, 60% wirate): should be easy since the minion trades are favorable to us. Efficient use of Traps is a key to win. Also, Flare will reveal a concealed Gadgetzan Auctioneer for you.
  • Warlock (Malygos- or Handlock, 50% winrate): this can be tough, but Stampeding Kodo is really helpful here. Make sure you won't go into a crazy late game - you'll be bursted down due to minor removals and burst damage in this deck. Killing the opponent before turn 9-10 is a perfect scenario.
  • Zoolock (65% winrate): much easier that previous one. Use Stampeding Kodo to remove the Imp Gang Boss and the game is done.
  • Face Hunter (65% winrate): time to get a revenge on that! Stampeding Kodo and some Taunts really help in here. Should be pretty easy to win this because we have double Antique Healbot (even with Brann Bronzebeard!) and Flare.
  • Control Warrior (55% winrate): while almost guaranteed loss in the super-late game (Tank Up!, right), should be easy if advantage is gained on the turn 5-6. Try to play around Brawl and keep 2-3 minions on the board. Discover the cards that will help you with e.g. Sylvanas Windrunner.
