Purple tested the deck on ladder with 80% win ratio
I will write a little guide if you need it.
I don't have a second Twilight Guardian, so I put in Elise Starseeker. It's not too bad, but I think that the second one is probably good.
With only 7 dragons in the deck, taking one out really hurts you for activators. I'd definitely try to find another dragon to put in, maybe even a Hungry Dragon.
Is replacing kezan mystic and one bgh for one dr boom and one siphon soul a good idea?
I guess this is good for a tourney but for rank 10-20 or casual, this deck just plain blows. So many different decks at those ranks and casual games that this deck can't shine like it should be shining.
I just want a good deck for rank 10-20 or casual that's not zoo. I hate playing zoo.
you pretty much aim for early game drops. Early malylock prior to LoE would keep cards such as Twilight Drake or Guardian, and now you only do that if you have a perfect curve, and on coin. on the play you must aim to get:
ALWAYS KEEP:
-Zombie Chow, Dark Peddler, Darkbomb.
WITH COIN:
-Twilight Guardian/Drake.
Specific keeps:
-Earthen Ring (vs agro, hunter always)
-Mortal Coil (vs aggro)
-Abusive Sargent (only if vs hunter and if no zombie chow in hand)
-Hellfire (vs paladin, patron warrior)
Plays too much like the old Malygos deck, which to clarify, also had a spot where it was wrecking the field, then dropped off immediately once the field changed. Purple getting the kind of winrate he did in Legend ranks on ladder is no indication that he would have done so in lower ranks (much less the rest of us). It's an indication of what the meta was like in Legend ranks, and nothing more.
Matchup analysis in the OP would be good. From best to worst, here's mine:
Freeze Mage: Excellent Brann-Healbot combo wins the game by itself.
Handlock: Excellent The Maly combo's make it easy mode.
Patron: Excellent Against anyone still playing it, at least.
Aggro/Midrange Druid: Excellent They can't handle the Taunt, AoE, double BGH and Healing without any draw.
Zoo: Favorable Just too slow and board-oriented against this deck.
Tempo/Mech Mage: Favorable A bad draw can easily lose to a good draw from opponent, but Mystic is superb.
Face/Hybrid Hunter: Favorable You lose with a bad hand, but otherwise solid and Mystic takes away their last out against you.
Midrange Shaman: Favorable Hex is a bother, but everything is favorable against Shaman, basically.
Mindrange Hunter: Even If you draw Mystic, it's just about killing Highmanes as they pop out. Without either, you lose.
Dragon Priest: Even They can't deal with combo, but you can't kill Ysera.
Control War: Even You can apply pressure, but the MU leans toward unfavorable if you misassign your role. You lose the long game because of fatigue and Ysera. At least Brann + Blackwing make it easier than before.
Oil Rogue: Unfavorable At least if they play correctly, your heals are ineffective due to burst, and their pressure and combo are better.
Mech Shaman: Unfavorable No consistent answer to Whirling Zap'O openings backed by Taunts. This is what the Face Hunter matchup will look like as well w/o Kezan, btw.
Reno Warrior: Abyssmal Worse than Warrior. Same problems with Ysera, burst combo is ineffecitve.
Secret Paladin: Abyssmal In b4 some video of this deck beating Secret Pally. You basically have to take the board early and hold it so that Mysterious Challenger hits an empty field, then also be holding BGH. Yeah, try doing that consistently with this deck.
Midrange Paladin Abyssmal Just an auto-loss. Aldor and Keeper of Uldaman together extinguish any hope you once had.
Basically, there is no point in playing this deck unless you expect Freeze Mage and Handlock to be the only Control decks, which are the same meta conditions that the previous Malygos Lock showed up in. Because otherwise, Aggro are your only favorable MU's, and you need Kezan Mystic to carry you through most of those, besides. And so especially after the other decks have adjusted post LoE, Reno, Keeper of Uldaman, etc, the deck just won't put up the stats that it did a few weeks ago.
On the lower ranks where Freeze and Handlock play is sub-par and rare to begin with, and where aggro is everywhere, there are better, less skill-intensive decks to play. There is always that element that thinks skill-intensive equals better, but really, even optimal play of this deck puts you at the mercy of how much Paladin and Warrior you face.
Tempostorm has this exact deck listed in tier 2 of their meta snapshot. The analysis over there is quite different from yours.
Specifically mid range paladin is listed as the decks best match up. Not saying you are wrong, what you say makes sense but they claim to use data.
deck aint even that bad against secret pali, have to consider secret pali's huge variance as well. Most other decks cant even deal with Mysterious Challenger at all, at least this one gives you a chance with the BGHs,burst of spells etc. I havent climbed much, but ive tried this deck out (minus farseer and kezan +2 imp gang so keep in mind i had a lot of early board fights too), till rank 10, the lower rank is filled with cancer decks like secret pali, and i have a perfect win rate against them so far (12). But a lot of them hit variance/deviation and kinda just gave me free win. Could just be luck since its not like 1000 trials, but thats just my take.
Dark Peddler definitely put it back on the meta. It is another solid archtype for warlock and had seen play on BRM era. I did craft Malygos a few days before TGT released I wanted to have a slow controlly warlock deck but did not have the essential cards for a Handlock. It was a solid deck then but I was having a hard time after TGT release. Peddler can't count how many times pedler saved me, the 1 mana warlock cards are just so useful voidwalker, corruption, mortal coil, soulfire.
Looks like a fun deck to play. Definitely gonna try it out. I don't have second Twilight Guardian , can i replace it with Sludge Belcher, or do you recommend something else?
Thanks for sharing.
yea you can do belcher man, or honestly you can just use shieldedmasta, because belcher is another 5 drop, and this deck has a LOT of 5 drops, its up to you if you think there are too many 5 drops and you cant play on curve as much. Furthermore, upsides of shieldedmasta is that it does no require dragon in your hand, which you sometimes will find that you don't and decide to not play twilight guardian when you want to. However, the downside is that 1 health, could prove to be significant, maybe get one more hit in.
Problem solved. I've managed to craft it this weekend.
Thanks for the reply. Cheers.
I would take out mystic and a bgh for double implosion?
This deck sucks a lot.
There's no way to control match in the early part.
I guess you never played a solid deck
Unfortunately if you're not lucky enough to draw Zombie Chow early or Antique Healbot later on this gets rekt by aggro. ATM aggro match ups seem to be the only persisting problem in this deck. Regardless, this deck is lots of fun to play and surprisingly effective as well when not against aggro. +1
Hey you're totally right. I've made some changes to the deck, replacing kezan mystic and 1 bgh for 2 imp gang bosses and it's helped immensely vs aggro. I'm starting to warm up more to it too!
Feel free to do whatever you wish with your decks. From my experience two BGHs are very useful so I would not replace those two cards. Why do you want to place a molten giant and a defender of argus? Keep in mind Purple intentionally avoided placing a BGH target minion to further dominate his game vs control matchups
Can you suggest me a tracker?
