Hi Guys, MambaShane here! Top 100 Legend Mage Player this Season.
This is my own version of the Control Mage with Brann Bronzebeard & Reno Jackson! This deck is insane amounts of fun, and potential to climb to the highest of ranks in constructed play.
Core Cards Analysis:
Brann Bronzebeard is a remarkable and powerful addition to the current Control Meta, this deck synergizes extremely well with Brann Bronzebeard, but yet the deck performs amazingly even when the Bronzebeard is not drawn! Cards that synergize with Bronzebeard include; Coldlight Oracle, Defender of Argus, Antique Healbot and the Newest Ethereal Conjurer!
Although Big Game Hunter also has a battlecry, I don't think you can choose to annihilate 2x minions (TBD) Let me know if you guys have experienced this!
Reno Jackson enables a full heal, and the effect will trigger the moment you have a single Mad Scientist in your hand, as this is the ONLY card that I run 2 copies of.
Mulligan: Mad Scientist, Duplicate, Doomsayer, Brann Bronzebeard, Loot Hoarder.
You want to cycle through your deck asap, Duplicate is a great early card, as potential Turn 5 Duplicates include Sludge Belcher, Ethereal Conjurer or Antique Healbot. Duplicating an early Doomsayer is also a great play.
Card Choices:
Brann Bronzebeard: Nuff said.
Coldlight Oracle Although it gives your opponents 2x cards, this is a great substitute for a second Arcane Intellect, and provides a body on the board. This is a card that can be used in the late game to completely FATIGUE your opponent out. You can synergize this card with Brann Bronzebeard and Echo of Medivh, giving both players 4 cards on Turn 10. Crazy combos with this card.
Ethereal Conjurer: A great control card, if played with your Secrets, you will have a sticky minion with Effigy, and the Discover mechanic will be insane to give you some late game options. Don't forget on Turn 8 with Brann Bronzebeard, this would give you 2x spells!
Effigy Finally, the card that can be utilized properly in Control Mage. Try to use it pre-emptively on a big minion, such as Archmage Antonidas or Alexstrasza
Big Game Hunter With only 1 Fireball, BGH will be a decent body to control the annoying 7+ minions.
Bloodmage Thalnos Decent cycle with sudden late game burst, try comboing with Roaring Torch damage!
Molten Giant This card shines in the late game. Throw it down for 0 mana, play Reno Jackson, Echo of Medivh them, and you're back to full health with another Reno & Giant in your hand...
Winning Conditions:
- Duplicating or using Echo of Medivh on strong minions to drag the game out, you can have 2-3 Reno Jacksons in hand if played on curve with Duplicate
- Recognizing when to use Reno Jackson, best before your Ice Block is about to pop.
- Comboing Brann Bronzebeard with your Battlecry cards.
- Extracting Maximum Value with Archmage Antonidas
- Delaying the game with classic Freezemage setups
- Effigy late game minions
Have fun!

More to come with in-depth match-up analysis!
Brilliant deck, tons of fun. Thumbs up!
Had the opportunity to play against a similar build to yours on ladder just now. The most notable changes probably are a thicker concentration of late game minions in contrast to your midgamey approach. Not that I mind, but in particular I think I would favour a non-symmetric effect like acolyte's instead of oracle.
Just my thoughts. Nice deck.
Thanks DonnieMcKarlo,
My deck is definitely focused more on the Midgame, to maximize value with Brann Bronzebeard. Thanks for your comments bud, much appreciated!
The most interesting thing I noticed about Brann is that it actually does not need a deck built around it. I myself am running it in my control hunter with only like 5 menial battlecries. But if you treat it like a Faceless Manipulator on your battlecries, it mostly is worth it as far as I can tell.
Anyway, I'm glad you're having success with this. I might give this list a shot. I've been working on the idea of this concept, and I was leaning more towards the massive lategame approach, but since I don't have a Rhonin ready, I'm incentivized to go in this direction more.
Agreed. Bronzebeard has a decent body, similar to that of Flamewaker. I'm not a huge fan of Rhonin, as there are so many options on Turn 8. If you're on NA server, feel free to add me and give this decklist a go :) My summoner id is Mambashane#1113.
This looks promising, but what would you think of including an Explosive Sheep as most control/fatigue mages do?
Hi BaroqueAndMSTie,
Thanks for your comment dude. Explosive Sheep could be strong, but due to the decks nature with insane amounts of heals, Cone of Cold, and Bloodmage Thalnos will give you more cycle and control to setup you up for the late game. You will have absolutely no problem against aggro decks, unless they have an incredible dream draw. :)
That makes sense! I can't wait to try it out, maybe give my feedback on it, for whatever it's worth.
Most definitely, I'll see how I can sub in Explosive Sheep where possible. Keep you posted mate.
