Archaedas
This deck can be used for normal or heroic Archaedas.
You'll want to get some minions on the board ASAP and start taking out the statues from his special ability. If you let them get out of hand he will cast Shattering Spree, doing massive damage to your hero. The goal of this deck is to manage the statues and get a Lightwarden pumped up to a ridiculous amount to take Archaedas out. Try to kill your own statues by using Abusive Sergeant or Dark Iron Dwarf, then run them into something. Do not waste a Velen's Chosen on them because you don't want any to survive. Try and mulligan for 2-drops so you can start casting them as soon as possible and damage the statues on his side of the board.
Special Cards
These are special cards used by heroic Archaedas.
Card Swap Suggestions
These are suggestions for swapping out cards in the posted deck for use against heroic Archaedas.
If you need to swap any cards you could always use Molten Giant and Sea Giant because you can cast them easily. You might also consider using Crazed Alchemist to destroy statues before they get buffed.
Boss Deck Listing
This is the complete listing for the deck used by heroic Archaedas.
2Abusive Sergeant
2 Animate Earthen
2 Dark Iron Dwarf
2 Dire Wolf Alpha
1 Earth Elemental
2 Entomb
2 Flametongue Totem
2 Keeper of Uldaman
3 Looming Presence
2 Pit Snake
1 Reliquary Seeker
2Sacred Trial
3 Shattering Spree
2 Solemn Vigil
2 Spellslinger
I won with priest, stealing Animate Earthen and adding Mukla's Champion to the deck
Got it third try, replaced lightwarden and light of the naaru with sea giant and spawn of n'zoth, which buffed my board and allowed me to clear my statues.
Really nice deck got it on my 3rd try and I really recommend adding a Mass Dispel because its really useful against his spell that gives his minons +3/+3 and Taunt. Replace Mass Dispel with a Boulderfist Ogre
Pretty bad list... I'm goin to try another deck.
8th time i try it...
got it on the first try, without velen's chosen, or boulderfist ogre. replaced a few cards with frostwolf overlord for some high damage in late game (After he had used both his "destroy all statues, deal 3 damage for each" cards -- otherwise i'd be fked). gg, thanks for deck!
Great deck, easy win, first try. All i did was fill up my board with small minions so he couldn't spawn statues on my side, did as you suggested by buffing up my lightwardens with the heals, etc. and with all the board control i had i could easily destroy the statue that was spawned on his side with my smaller minions and continuously do damage to his face with my lightwardens and whatever else was heftier every turn as well. Won by turn 5 or 6. I was delightfully surprised at how easy it was, hands down one of the easiest heroic bosses in Explorers using this deck.
I tried the Druid and Shaman decks several times. Their mechanics didn't seem to work when Boss pulls Animated Earthens. This deck worked on first try. The tips by NeonAngel were spot on! Before I knew it my multiple Light Wardens were either smacking boss in the face or taking out statues. Sure, the boss did a Shattering Spree - had me down to 12 health, but with hero power and other heals all it did was make the Light Wardens even stronger! Finished boss on turn 6.
-2Stonesplinter Trogg +2 Dire Wolf Alpha
The Crazed Alchemist and theSea Giant did the trick for me!
Thanks!
Took a few tries, starting with either the Stonesplinter Trogg OR the Lightwarden seem to be the most important parts of the deck, otherwise slow consistent play works very well here.
great deck 2nd times easy win
Are you sure you played this on heroic? Couldn't even win on normal... Nice deck...
Ok deck, but i think you really need at least one Shadow Word: Death because the 7/8 taunt
I subbed in 2 sea giants, 2 dire wolves, one mass dispel, and 2 confuse. This sub worked like butter if you prefer a more control base, and the wolves allow you to get rid of statues when he buffs his to prevent his big wipe to statues damage. I took out the 2 ogres, the 2 SW Pains, one cleric, and the 2 troggs.
first try great deck
I made a few changes to the deck since I only had one copy of a few cards used in this deck, such as Shadow Madness, Light of the Naaru, and Lightwarden. Also, I took out the Bloodfen Raptors and put in a Lance Carrier, Brann Bronzebeard, an Antique Healbot, and two Sludge Belchers. These changes helped me win on my second try since Brann and Antique Healbot gave me the 16 health boost I needed to stay in the game. Sludge Belcher also helped out drastically by keeping my other minions safe while they were continuously buffed up.
A word of advice for those trying to win with this deck or something similar to it like me: DON"T INVEST EVERYTHING INTO ONE MINION. Archaedas has Entomb which will punish you for throwing a bunch of buffs on a singular Lightwarden and frequently will cost you the game. It is better to just command board presence and then proceed to deny him any minions and statues that he throws out while whittling him down.
A few of these edits worked better for me.
-2 Evil Heckler +2 Sea Giants
-2 Bloodfen
tors +2 lance Carriers
-2 Boulderfist Ogre +2 Crazed Alchemist
-1 Shadow Madness +Brann Bronzebeard
Gave me earlier board power with Sea Giants instead of waiting until Turn 6 for 1. Alchemist helped to remove some early statues, and Brann...MVP. Really allowed for some efficient trades with double battlecries.
First try :) Very easy thanks :)
It took me a few tries too but the key was filling the board, as he said in the guide try to start with nothing over 2 cost this will put you ahead. Also this is a good deck but if your finding it hard you can always use one of the decks that throws more Epics at the problem in place of better deck design.
