Card choices and explanations:

2x Arcane Blast It kills most two drops for free on T2 in combination with Sorcerer's Apprentice, and it comes in handy to cement board control post Flamewaker as a cheap/free spell. Alternatively, it can be used as fuel for Antonidas or to remove Mirrored Azure Drakes in the Tempo Mage matchup on T6, for instance. There are a lot of situations in which this card proves its worth, and I can't remember a single game where I wished I wasn't playing it.

2x Arcane Missiles Your best answer to Muster for Battle. Lets you shape the board against Paladins to get a good Mirror Entity off your Mad Scientist, and combined with Flamewaker lets you establish board control against aggressive decks.  Against controllish decks you can use it to pump your Mana Wyrm's attack or to blast damage on their faces with Flamewaker. If drawn late game, it's fuel for Antonidas.

1x Mirror Image Your 3rd Missiles against Paladin. It's useful when you're behind against aggro, as it should give you an extra turn to clear the board with Flamewaker. T3 Flamewaker -> Coin -> Mirror Image into T4 Arcane Intellect/Arcane Blast paves the way into your midgame domination. Against control decks, you use it to protect your early game or orbwalk them for a turn to keep pushing damage.

2x Mana Wyrm Your only 1 drop. It's always a keep and its 3 toughness means it trades well early game and often forces an opposing hero power to get rid of it. Mana Wyrm is a staple in most aggressive Mage decks, and it can often snowball pretty easily into a 5/3 minion.

1x Flamecannon Useful removal against Belchers, Drakes, Flamewakers, Imp Gang Bosses, Dark Cultists, etc. Only ran as 1 of due to the prevalence of Paladin players, Haunted Creepers, and board flood. This card destroys Priests and Druids, who usually don't go wide on the board.

2x Frostbolt The flexibility of this card is amazing. It lets you freeze and ignore enemy Fel Reavers as you burn through their deck, it nullifies weapons for a turn and it aids in your dreaded 15 damage on turn 10 combo. Used early to get rid of Jugglers / Aspirants, amongst other early game minions.

1x Unstable Portal Surprise factor. If you get a great portal, you will more than likely win. If you get an average portal, you play on curve whatever minion comes out. If you get a bad portal, you give your Mage opponent a 1/1 creature. More importantly, this card is both a spell and a creature: you pump your Wyrm and you fuel your Flamewaker.

2x Sorcerer's Apprentice Can be played on T2 against certain classes or depending on board state, but it's usually seen after Mad Scientist. Flamewaker -> Coin -> Sorcerer's -> Blast/Missiles is a very strong T4 play. When ahead, it may allow you to play Antonidas on T7 and get two Fireballs off him.

2x Arcane Intellect Card advantage. It's best used in conjunction with Sorcerer's Apprentice on T4. T3 Flamewaker into T4 Sorcerer's -> Intellect -> Missiles/Blast/Image is a common play when not holding the coin.

2x Mirror Entity This card destroys Priests and Druids, and if played correctly gives you an edge over other classes. The best answers to this are Gnomes/Aspirants/Jugglers when they have Creeper on board for instance. It often puts your opponent in an awkward position where they're forced to either wait til they draw a weak minion, which allows you further snowball, or to give you free Shredders.

2x Flamewaker Destroys your opponent's board or wins the Freeze Mage matchup for you, popping early Ice Blocks and rendering their Shield Blocks sort of useless. In some matchups you can play as tempo to bait removal or disables, Druids love to swipe this or silence it for example. Hunters don't have many answers to it, and this guy's one of the reasons you squeeze in some wins against them.

2x Fireball Kills Taunts, kills Mysterious Challengers, kills faces.

1x Archmage Antonidas This card is insanely good and it wins a lot of matchups for you. Against those controllish decks where you failed to deliver the fatal blow, Antonidas does it for you. And if you become the control deck against Paladin, and uncontested Antonidas means Good Game Well Played.

2x Mad Scientist Amazing card. I tried running a secretless version but this guy is very valuable now that Druids are so popular. Against Paladin you play it on t2 to pop their Minibot, which they will follow with Muster giving them an awkward T4. Haunted Creepers are a cherised donation, and if they give you a Shredder you are probably going to win. Midrange Druid has only Keepers of the Grove as an answer to this, and topdecked Darnassus Aspirants to a certain extent. Aggro Druids may save Leper Gnomes, but it too can force them into awkard turns, preventing their t3 or t5 Reaver.

2x Piloted Shredder Great in this aggro meta. Great at controlling the board, great at pushing damage. Invaluable against Warrior. A 4/3 for 4 which leaves a body when it dies, nothing comes close to it in Mage with the exception of Water Elemental. If you play an uncontested Shredder against Secret Paladins on t4 you should be close to victory.

2x Azure Drake Decent body, makes your Arcane Blasts a 1 mana 4 damage spell, cycles through your deck. Probably your best top deck late game.

1x Toshley Amazing body, trades insanely well and fuels your Flamewakers and Antonidas. Occasionally, you may get a life saving taunt spare part or a stealth for your Antonidas. In most instances, though, it pumps your Wyrm while your Flamewaker does work.

1x Dr. Boom Decent body for its cost. Its battlecry is kind of meh but sometimes you may clear a couple of Azure Drakes, nothing too crazy. Very random explosions in a skilled base game are never a good thing, as the bots may hit face for 8 instead of clearing board allowing you to finish your opponent off with a Fireball. Never coin out this on t6 as its not a heavy tempo play. Blizzard please buff this card.
