This season alone, this deck has taken me from Rank 10-3 in a short period of time and I plan on playing more of it on stream this season (possibly to Legend). If you are facing a lot of Aggro decks on ladder, then this might be a great choice for your grinding session.
Warning: This is an aggro deck. It has inconsistencies similar to any other Aggressive strategy and is not exactly straight forward to play. There is a lot (not all) of SMOrc'ing (Face is the Place) to be done, but you will have to plan out your turns according to how your hand is sculpted for optimal plays that leave you in the driver seat. Playing out this deck takes time and practice to fully master and play well, but it can be done and eventually could take you to the Legend Status you desire.
Good Matchups:
Secret & Aggro Paladin
Face & Midrange Hunter
Tempo Rogue (Oil Midrange)
Above Fair Matchups:
Zoo Warlock
Midrange Paladin
Totem & Mech Shaman
Fair Matchups:
Midrange & Aggro Druid
Hand Warlock
Below Fair Matchups:
Control Warrior
Tempo Mage
Worst Matchups:
Control Priest
As you can see, if you are in a mostly Aggro Meta, then this deck shines. However if you are facing mostly Control Warrior, Tempo Mages, and Control Priests you should find another strategy to play for the time being.
Opening Hands/Mulligans:
Typically you are in search of Leper Gnomes, Southsea Deckhands, Defias Ringleaders, Loot Hoarders, SI:7 Agents, Argent Horseriders, and possibly 1 Deadly Poison in your opening hands, but each class you face is a little different than the others. If you have Coin in your opening hand, try to setup back to back plays such as Coin Defias Ringleader (on T1) and Loot Hoarder (on T2). Sculpt your hand wisely with the coin and use it well, it is either your combo activator or a tool to regain lost Tempo.
(These mulligans are not set in stone and should be adjusted as you learn more about the deck. As you gain more practice you will obtain more insight on what cards work better and certain number of cards to be kept for specific matchups. Take these mulligan choices listed below with a grain of salt.)
Vs Warriors - 2x Leper Gnome, 2x Southsea Deckhand, 1x Defias Ringleader, 2x Loot Hoarder, 1x SI:7 Agent, Argent Horserider, 1x Piloted Shredder, and 1 Deadly Poison (for Acolyte of Pain)
Vs Mages - 2x Leper Gnome, 2x Southsea Deckhand, 1x Defias Ringleader, 2x Loot Hoarder, 1x Ironbeak Owl (for Mad Scientist), 1x SI:7 Agent, Argent Horserider, 1x Piloted Shredder, and 1 Deadly Poison
Vs Druid - 2x Leper Gnome, 2x Southsea Deckhand, 1x Defias Ringleader, 2x Loot Hoarder, 1x Ironbeak Owl (for Taunt), 1x SI:7 Agent, Argent Horserider, and 1x Piloted Shredder
Vs Paladin - 2x Leper Gnome, 2x Southsea Deckhand, 1x Defias Ringleader, 2x Loot Hoarder, 1x Ironbeak Owl (for Haunted Creeper or Shielded Minibot), 1x Bladeflurry, 1x SI:7 Agent, Argent Horserider, and 1 Deadly Poison
Vs Hunter - 2x Leper Gnome, 2x Southsea Deckhand, 1x Defias Ringleader, 2x Loot Hoarder, 1x Ironbeak Owl (for Mad Scientist or Haunted Creeper), 1x Bladeflurry, 1x SI:7 Agent, and Argent Horserider
Vs Shaman - 2x Leper Gnome, 2x Southsea Deckhand, 2x Defias Ringleader, 2x Loot Hoarder, 1x Ironbeak Owl (for any Non-Hero Power Totem, Haunted Creeper, Whirling Zap-o-matic, or Annoy-o-Tron), 1x SI:7 Agent, Argent Horserider, and 1 Deadly Poison
Vs Warlock -
Opp Kept 2 cards or more (Aggro)? 2x Leper Gnome, 2x Southsea Deckhand, 2x Defias Ringleader, 2x Loot Hoarder, 2x Ironbeak Owl (for Haunted Creeper or Nerubian Egg), 1x Bladeflurry, 1x SI:7 Agent, Argent Horserider, and 1 Deadly Poison
Opp Kept 1 card or less (Control)? 2x Leper Gnome, 2x Southsea Deckhand, 2x Defias Ringleader, 2x Loot Hoarder, 2x Ironbeak Owl (for Twilight Drake, Sludge Belcher, or Taunt), 1x SI:7 Agent, Argent Horserider, 1x Piloted Shredder, and 1 Deadly Poison
Vs Rogue - 2x Leper Gnome, 2x Southsea Deckhand, 2x Defias Ringleader, 2x Loot Hoarder, 1x SI:7 Agent, Argent Horserider, 1x Piloted Shredder, and 1 Deadly Poison (If Coin = Yes: Assassin's Blade) - (Would Keep Cold Blood + Argent Horserider combo)
Vs Priest - 2x Leper Gnome, 2x Southsea Deckhand, 2x Defias Ringleader, 2x Loot Hoarder, 1x SI:7 Agent, Argent Horserider, 1x Piloted Shredder, and 1 Deadly Poison
From the mulligans noted above, you'll notice you try to keep the same key cards in your opening hand but will keep an eye out for other keep-able choices that are specific to your current matchup.
There is a lot of burst in this deck, Oil adds up a lot of damage. When given the opportunity to combo Oil a minion that can connect with your opponents face, you should take it and initiate the "Race." It is not uncommon to have 12-16 points of Burst in your hand your opponent does not realize, try using your minion burst damage first, saving Eviscerates to close out the game in case of Taunts.
Card Choices:
*** -1 Loot Hoarder, +1 Argent Squire - Loot Hoarder filled a slot that was helpful, but it is by no means the greatest 2-drop this deck could play. I still like having the 1 of Loot Hoarder for now until I figure out a better 2-drop. I do like having 1x Argent Squire in this deck to have an extra 1-drop that is helpful and can benefit from Cold Bloods and Tinker Oils. It also becomes another card to combo with Defias Ringleader or SI:7 Agents a turn later than usual. I think having 2x is a bit much, because the second one you draw doesn't help you in bursting your opponent later in the game.
1x Bladeflurry - A lot of you will for sure wonder why this is not an auto 2 of. In just about every game you play, the second Bladeflurry will be a dead draw and you would rather just have another Minion or Burst spell. If you are running into more than 50% aggro you could consider cutting Dr. Boom for a second Bladeflurry or Fan of Knives, but for now the decklist feels solid enough for this Meta.
2x Ironbeak Owl - Originally this was 2x Sap in my first list for a long-long time. Eventually I swapped over to the Owls because I was tired of Sap'ping a Taunt only to get it recast on me and create a problem yet again. The Owls get rid of the Taunt effect permanently and have multiple other uses on top of that. Unfortunately the minion still is on board after the Silence, but I'd much rather have this happen than keep losing to a replayed Taunt.
2x Argent Horserider - Originally this was Wolfrider in the first Burst Rogue list I wrote about a few months back, but in this deck the Bubble is strictly better on this 3-drop minion. Being able to have a combo of Argent Horserider + Cold Blood or Argent Horserider + Tinker's Sharpsword Oil is a devastating blow to a lot of decks. Being a durable body that allows for better combos makes me happy to play Argent Horserider over the one-time-use Wolfrider.
2x Piloted Shredder - This is still the best 4-drop in the game. Super durable body that allows you to connect with face or help clear a Taunt out of the way. Without this card, you also stand no chance against your bad-matchups.
1x Assassin's Blade - For starters a second copy becomes too clunky to even consider. This card shines as of this moment because there is a lapse in Harrison Jones in this Meta which makes for one large and in charge weapon with Deadly Poisons and Tinker's Oils. A lot of my games are won because this weapon easily gets in for more than 20 points of damage. One of the MVPs in this deck for sure.
1x Loatheb - This is almost an auto include into any aggro variant. If you already have a board position established it allows for more damage to pass through without the fear of a board clear. Being a 5/5 makes it difficult to deal with and a powerful attacker to help push for much needed damage to close out the game. Being able to shut down Druid Combo turns, Flamewaker turns, AOE clears, and more is a major reason this guy is a part of most of my aggro decks.
1x Dr. Boom - I wanted another way to fill up the board after an AOE or just to have an additional powerhouse card to get down and dirty with. Dr Boom seemed like the best solution to this issue. He personally has only won me a couple of games, but has served his purpose well in the Midrange and Control Matchups to give me a way to create a massive presence that deals large chunks of damage.
Honorable Mentions:
Argent Squire - Unfortunately does not present enough of a threat. Argent Horserider provides us a better body and charge effect to better abuse Cold Blood.
Sap - There is not enough Control and Midrange floating around to get the full value from Sap. Ironbeak Owl serves as a better version of what this card offers which is why the Owl got the nod over a one-time-use Sap.
Goblin Auto-Barber - In my original version Auto-Barber served as a solid minion with a great ability. After a lot of play and testing he was losing his merit mostly because of the time it took to setup and get full value from. It is still a great card, but unfortunately slows down the deck a little too much in the end.
Undercity Valiant - I could see possibly trying out one of these over a Defias Ringleader if there is a lot of Paladins and Hunters in your Meta, but for now the bodies Ringleader provides has been more beneficial overall. Feel free to test this guy out and let me know what you think.
*Updated* Buccaneer - This is for sure a very helpful card, but I did not include him into the list mostly because he does not help your Assasin's Blade plan, which is one of your biggest plans in the deck. Most of the time he will cost 3 mana, which this deck already has a lot of 3-drops. If you feel the need that he is necessary in your list, I would recommend cutting 1x Southsea Deckhand & 1x Loot Hoarder for the Buccaneer.
Perdition's Blade - I wish I had more room because this card would be extremely helpful. Unfortunately there is not enough room to support it while the other 3 mana cards in this deck feel slightly superior.
Fan of Knives - A very expensive mana card that is only relevant in a Paladin and Hunter Meta. I could see cutting Dr Boom for FoK if you aren't seeing a lot of Midrange and Control in order to improve your Aggro matchups.
Backstab - Is only useful early in the game and becomes a terrible top deck during late game. I'd rather keep the deck consistent and run mostly Damage/Burn + Minions (with the exception of Sap to remove large Taunts in your way).
Bloodmage Thalnos - The spell power would be the number one reason to exchange out a Loot Hoarder for a Thalnos, but there are only 3 cards that benefit from the additional SP. This feels lack luster, so Loot Hoarder is in its place for the extra 1 damage attack for more consistency with your aggressive minions. Feel free to swap out a Loot Hoarder for Thalnos but this does feel unnecessary.
Azure Drake - I removed the Azure Drakes to build up the speed of the deck. If there was more Control and Midrange I could see playing these to keep up, but you might as well just play Tempo Oil Rogue at that point.
Preparation + Sprint - These cards would definitely need to come in a package together because I would not play one without the other. This deck is not designed like Tempo Oil Rogues and cannot survive a late game even with these two cards included. Burst Rogue is designed to win fast or lose fast, those are the only options. If we were to include both Prep + Sprint, aggressive cards would need to be cut, which at that point would change the entire strategy of the deck. It's easy to get these two strategies confused, but Burst Rogue is meant for Aggro and Tempo Oil Rogue is meant for ...Tempo/Midrange/Control.
FAQ:
Q - Is there a replacement for Loatheb? (I don't own Naxx)
A - Loatheb is a one of a kind minion, but if you'd like to try the list without buying Naxx for now I'd recommend subbing him for one of the following: Wolfrider (if unsure of current Meta), Fan of Knives (if Paladin & Hunter is Meta), Antique Healbot (if Hunter & Mage is Meta), Sap (if Control/Midrange is Meta).
Q - Is there a replacement for Dr Boom? (Budget Player)
A - I would turn you into the same direction and answers as the Loatheb Question above. All the choices mentioned are suitable replacements until you can craft Dr Boom.
Q - Is this a Budget Deck? Would you Change any cards if cost wasn't an issue?
A - So far the only changes I would recommend for people with copious amounts of Dust or a large collection: +1 Leeroy Jenkins -1 Arcane Golem. This is my only change I'd make to the deck.

Here's to hoping this deck/guide is in some way beneficial to your Grinding Experience! The deck has performed extremely well for me and won games I thought were not possible to do so.
If your looking for a deck to get you out of the lower Ranks, this one will surely do the trick when piloted reasonably well.

any thoughts on salvaging this post-nerfs, or is this deck just dead?
like, it's been doing great for me so far, but losing Gnome, Golem, and Flurry all at once seems like a really harsh blow.
Honestly I'm not entirely sure. Once we have a full list of cards from WOG, that's when I'd consider adjusting this list or scrapping it.

I wen't with ravenholt assasin. Is actually working out really good. It get's you closer to lethal, doesnt really clear the board for you like boom does but, it's impossible to deal with when they have like 6 health, theyre out of cards and you drop ravenholt... Game over i tell you.
Hey wings, what do you think about ravenholt assasin as a dr. boom replacement? As this is a burst deck i would say it fit's the role quite nicely. I'm going to craft it, dusted the old one. Something like war golem just isnt worth running at all. What we wan't is imediate value and that's where ravenholt is good as the opponent pretty much can't remove it unless using something like deadly shot. I'm sorry but it just sounds like a much better replacement than the things you suggested. If i do as suggested, i am seriously lacking end game. I guess another idea is sky golem but it seems out of place in a deck like this.
im lacking card draws... think the best bet is to replace an argent squire OR a Gnome for a loot hoarder/thalnos since cold blood's main target is the argent horserider in this 2.0 deck? or should i get rid of an owl instead? I think the loss of the 1 drop combo is worth the extra card no?
Also maybe a 1 sap > 1 owl, since there is really only 1 AOE spell. Not great still having that minion on the board? Thoughts?
if you're lacking card draws please see this deck :) (this one covers AoE as well)
[90% WINRATE] LADDER CLIMBER BURST ROGUE - Hearthstone Decks
lmao. 2.0??? Really? Cuz the revisions were so well thought out, thoroughly considered..... lol. lol.
Why not just call it Boom Burst?
Yeah this version has worked horribly for me, having everything but dr. boom. This deck relies way too much on getting boom on the board, where the first version had no problem making it below rank 10 for me. I did switch from sap to owl in the old version though. I'm considering throwing in argent horseriders somewhere but they don't seem that nescecarry. I usually have an arcane golem in my hand by the time i get tinkers and can combo it on turn 7 (minimum of 13 dmg, i mean why even give a shit about boom at that point)
Is this deck viable without Dr Boom ?
I have a really hard time playing against any control-y deck, I feel like i have nothing to deal with their taunt. To compare, i also play a control mage deck, and i can easily climb to rank 14 with it. With the burst rogue deck, I cant get off the rank 18.
The only difference between my deck and the one featured on this page is Dr Boom. For information my Mage deck is not optimal either.
Any clue what to look for ? Should i just abandon this deck ?
Edit : Sorry for my poor english :(
Personally, I wouldn't grind any rank without Boom in the current p2w meta. I've been playing a couple months and will never craft that shit card. You've probably already seen it in your opponents hand more than once just getting to rank 18.
The rewards are trivial in between 20 and Legend, and soon Boom will be nerfed and relegated to Wild. Who cares? Wait for them to fix this shit meta. Boom is a p2w obscenity.
Actually its working for me now, without Dr Boom i can get to rank 10. The learning curve is quite tough, but you can do it.
Thank you for the guide =)
How would this deck go without a boom?
Have sky golem just need a few more cards then
This deck is ridiculously good fun and also helluh strongkt. Thanks for such a comprehensive guide!
I can't lie, this deck runs out too often on me in the midgame. I've been playing this deck (Burst Rogue, not this specific one) for almost a year now for my lazy Rogue quests, and every time I've faced another aggro deck, this one falls flat.
I don't know if it's how I trade as Rogue, but I try using my weapon to trade more often than minions. Then I would usually lose my board to some weak AOE clear. The problem is that either I take too much damage from clearing with dagger or I lose my board that I try to set up for in trades.
Don't get me wrong, this is definitely a bursty deck, but with the right cards. But like all other Rogue decks, it requires a combo, because unlike face Hunter, it cannot win with sustained damage. The cards are too flimsy and top decks are required to finish games.
Taking some advice in the comments, I have tried using Coldlight Oracle like the original Burst Rogue, but there isn't enough charge in there to help. The deck curves off too late; Loatheb has only one me one game ever against freeze Mage. Dr. Boom has never been drawn on curve or top decked.
I'd like to chalk it up to bad luck, but this is a hard aggro deck to win with.
You pretty much want to make a huge burst around turn 5-7 or earlier preferrably, so that the enemy get's overrun and his tempo and control is near irellevant to you.
Anyone still using this? Are you going by the decklist or have you made customisations?
I played this deck to rank 4 in November without much trouble. A few changes I made were (I have no Dr. Boom) Sap to replace Dr. Boom, Coldlight Oracle to replace Loot Hoarder (on-demand card draw in late game is very useful), and I tossed a Cutpurse in for one of the Defias Ringleaders for a variation on coin potential (against Hunters and Paladins you're almost guaranteed to get a Coin out of him).
Please note that Cutpurse is a tricky card to gain use from and is usually a dead card mid-to-late game, but in games where I gained at least one coin early in the match I never lost.
I played against a Renolock with this deck today. I piloted it as well as I could; managed to get him down to 10 hp post-Reno heal. I was quite happy about that. Unfortunately I did lose the match. A better player than I could have probably won it.
Not a bad deck at all. Aggressive rogue decks can be very scary.
