Edit 4 (April 30/16): This deck is no longer viable even in wild I don't think. You can check out this Hybrid Shaman deck I reached legend this season here: http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/519760-hybrid-shaman-legend-70-winrate-from-rank-6-to
Edit 3 (Dec 27/15): I hit Legend pretty late this season, I was trying to reach legend with some weird decks that included Reno Jackson and Bronzebeard but I could only get to rank 3 with Dragon Paladin deck. I knew I could get Legend pretty easy with secret paladin since it's by far the best deck right now so that's why I challenge myself with fun decks. I lost 3 games in a row with my Dragon Paladin deck at rank 3 to 2 secret paladins and a control priest. It felt bad losing to those decks and I decided just to play secret paladin. I tried out Ostkaka's Secret Paladin with Ragnaros but I lost 2 games with it to aggro decks, there seemed to be no answers in the deck with no consecrate, no aldor, no BGH. I updated this deck and I went on a 14-0 win streak, lost 2 and then won 4 to legend. So I'm 18-2 with the updated deck.
I made a few changes to the deck, harrison jones, there's so many weapon classes, paladin, shaman, oil rogue, control/patron warrior and even Warlock with Lord Jaraxxus.
I cut Knife Juggler and added 2nd secret keeper, having the extra 1 drop against aggro decks helps a lot and secret keeper can get out of control quickly and forces opponent to waste removal on it.
Keeper of Uldaman, I think 1 is good enough. I had 2 in my Dragon Paladin deck but the problem was against aggro, you can't even play keeper of uldaman sometimes because you don't have a minion on the field and all opponent's minions are weaker than 3/3.
I put competitive spirit in instead of repentance, it can get good value and helps secret keeper grow too.
Everything else is the same in the deck, I will probably post a new video of how to play it. Here's deck tractor stats:
Edit 2: Check out my new Reno Secret Paladin deck I had 11 game win streak to top 100 Legend: http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/376339-reno-secret-paladin-legend-top-100-11-game-win
Edit: I made a couple changes to the deck, -kezan, -juggler, +haunted creeper, +BGH. I think that would be better against popular aggro druid right now. I reached legend this season with a different version of secret paladin I made, check it out here: http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/366288-deathrattle-redemption-secret-paladin-legend-66-7
Hey guys, here is my version of Secret paladin I reached Legend this season. From Rank 4 I went 25-9 in 5 hour session (73.5% win rate). This list has a few different cards, one is kezan. Kezan is a tech card, so only play it if you are playing against a lot of hunters and mages. I just put it in because i was facing a lot of hunters and stealing their secret is usually an autowin. I've been seeing a lot of freeze mage too, stealing their ice block right before you finish them makes an easy win, also really good against tempo mage and okay against secret Paladin. I added Sludge Belcher to help protect hero and other minions, maybe even 2nd belcher is good, I like the card. Just 1 true silver since we already have lots of weapons.
Edit: From the session I played today, I got 10 game win streak from 1000+ legend down to 116 Legend (I lost some ranks experimenting with a midrange paladin that didn't work out). I managed to hit Legend 50 with -repentance +murloc knight.
Just 1 juggler, he is pretty weak on it's own, pretty weak against warrior and tempo mage. Knife Juggler is a lot better than I thought so I put 2nd on in instead of competitive spirit, probably the weakest secret behind eye for eye. Repentance is actually good sometimes if you use it at the right time or if you get it from mysterious challenger. 1 secret keeper, 2 is probably too much and 1 is good, plus a lot of time just play avenge on turn 1, noble sac or redemption in some cases. 2 aldor in this deck, they are really good and not as situational as BGH, some lists run 0 of them but I think they are a must with a lot of big minions opponents play and often opponents make greedy plays so aldor and board control=gg. Aldor just wrecks Fel reaver too.
If I get 20 thumbs up I will write a more detailed guide and what to mulligan for. (Ok, reached 20 upvotes, thanks for everyone voting on it!)
Here is a pretty long video I made that I talk about the deck and I go over some of the games I played. Sorry the video lagged a bit in parts when I was recording:
Here are the final 3 games I hit Legend:
Hearthpwn user Khristophesaurus did a spotlight video of my deck, check it out:
Mulligen:
- Only keep 1 weapon, most likely muster because it is very good
- Only keep a secret if you suspect you are facing an aggro matchup and only keep maximum 1 secret and usually only keep noble sacrifice and never keep a secret if you have secret keeper
- It's questionable to keep Mysterious Challenger or not. I would keep it if I'm facing warrior or priest, any slow class or if I have the coin and already have turn 1/2 plays.
Always Keep:
- 1x Muster, haunted creeper, secret keeper, x2 shielded minibot, almost always knife juggler
Maybe keep:
- Consecration if suspect you are facing aggro and only keep it if you already have turn 1 and turn 2 play.
- coghammer only if you have 1 or 2 drop minion already and no muster for battle
- Aldor peace keeper if you already have turn 1/2 plays and if you don't have muster for battle
Druid - Aldor peacekeeper incase opponent innovates something big out,
Hunter - Kezan, noble sacrifice if no other turn 1 play, owl to silence mad scientist
Mage - Kezan, 1x noble sacrifice if no other turn 1 play, owl to silence mad scientist
Paladin - Kezan,
Rogue - I like keeping Loatheb even without coin,
Warrior - owl to silence acolyte of pain,
Warlock - Aldor for giants, owl for twilight drake or void caller,
Shaman - Probably good to keep consecration
Priest - Owl to silence minion with velen's chosen or power word shield, knife juggler is good against cleric
@Hearthole I would say the Nzoth deck is probably better now since I haven't updated the deck for a while. I have only played standard since old gods update. For the Nzoth deck, I would try to cut divine favor for sylvanas. Actually, the Nzoth deck doesn't have shielded minibot which is probably the strongest 2 drop in the game so I would add 2 of those in and maybe take out 1 juggler and 1 darkshire.
Loatheb could replace harrison. Also, where can I get that deck tracker?
@Sinisterseneker Ya, loatheb is pretty good. i replaced loatheb with harrison just because there were a lot of weapon classes. i'm trying -bgh and +divine favour recently and deck tracker: http://hsdecktracker.net/
@Makedonien0422 Sorry about not replying. I didn't see your comment. I only play on NA.
@kay0otik Depends what you are playing against. If you're playing against a lot of weapon classes, ooze might be ok. If playing against aggro, 2nd belcher, if control maybe sylvanis, 2nd keeper of uldaman or murloc knight or loatheb is if facing a lot of rogue/mage.
I always enjoy your decks. I'm testing this out at legend rank atm. I'll let you know how it goes.
Edit: I dunno. I went 4-8 with this deck.
Mage: 1-1, Paladin: 1-2, Priest: 0-2, Warlock: 0-2, Druid: 2-0, Hunter: 0-1
The double Aldors seem really clunky and I miss the Knife Jugglers. I do like the BGH tech though. I'm still not sold on the Harrison tech.
@slizzle466 Thanks for the comment. I'm sorry to hear 4-8, perhaps a bit unlucky and maybe you have a different play style. Here's my stats, stats are from rank 3 to Legend:
I made a mistake playing against the rogue, the rogue played a naked raptor on turn 3 and I overexpanded my board into 2 board clears(oil rogue with raptor, never heard of it) and I still had a chance for lethal, I should have went face. Against the warlock, it was zoo and I stabilized, he had 1 minion on board with 2 attack and had 10 damage from hand and perfect rng that game. I will make a video of gameplay tomorrow, I had some close games but every game felt winnable.
I never noticed too much problem with aldors in hand, I just think what I want to use them for and playing them on turn 3 when no other play is usually correct. So many weapons this meta, I had to include a harrison or ooze I think.
im trying this: - bgh, - haunted creeper, / + knife juggler, divine favor . What do you think about it? Thank you for making a guide :-).
If you are facing a lot of control or warlock decks, divne favor can be good. Knife juggler is really good in some situations, but can be removed easier than other 2 drops but 2 knife jugglers are usually good. I did have 2 jugglers and no bgh before, it works better againt some decks.
Why do you run 2 dr. 6s When most of the time in the early game your going to play a couple for tempo then your going to play your dr 6 and there goes all your secrets. so by the time you get your 2nd one theres no more secrets and no more value to get it out of it. im not dissing the deck or anything. i just dont see the point in it, but then again im a mage/preist player and not a paladin player i want to try something new. Could someone please explain it to me. this comment is probably gunna get hella' lot of downvotes for some unknown reason i bet.
(PS what are some replacements for coghammer and tirion because as i said im a mage/preist player so i dont have any good stuff for paladin besides dr 6 rofl)
@gravitycat5000 I like coghammer, it's a defencive option that would help against aggro decks. You can try 2nd true silver or keeper of uldaman. The 2nd challenger may not draw any secrets but having 1 challenger by turn 6 is a big advantage for this deck and having 2 challengers in the deck increases the chance of getting 1 by turn 6 a lot. Tirion is a must in any midrange paladin deck, you can try divine favor or 2nd belcher instead but it won't be as good.
i just got a golden tirion out of a pack WOAW
I'm planning on trying this deck out but I was wondering why no Competitive Spirit? :o
@Domuh I never got good value from competitive spirit, I also made some cuts to early game, 1 secret keeper, 1 juggler. Usually I only get +1+1 with it, it can be good but drawing it seems bad. You can try it out. I use to have it in the deck in place of big game hunter. Also, you can try keeper of uldaman in place of 1 aldor keeper maybe.
A paladin secret deck with a midrange theme and only one knife juggler. Which actually made it to legend. Perhaps there is hope for humanity.
Hey David!
Great deck, I've won a few times and I've watched your whole video, thanks for posting it!
I'm having issues with Armored Warriors, that deck where all they have is armor cards and drawing cards, I tend to run out of gas by turn 9 or above.
Any suggestions you can give?
Thanks man!
@Maenads Hello, for mulligan against warrior I will usually keep piloted shredder or mysterious challenger. If you are facing a lot of warrior, you can consider adding a murloc knight in place of 1 haunted creeper.
You have to pressure the warrior but at the same time play around brawl and revenge if they are fatigue warrior. Check out the meta snapshot at tempostorm.com and you can see exactly what cards are in the most popular decks. Warrior's best turn 4 play is deathbite so try not to have all your minions with 1 health at turn 4 or 5.
Awesome! Thanks man! I really appreciate it! :)
Hi David,
Since you made a lot of changes to your decklist, which one would you suggest as the most efficient for the ladder (I am stuck at rank 2).
Thank you for your time !
@RauhWelt Depends what you are facing. The meta changes so often so this decklist might be good today but not good the next day. If you are facing a lot of freeze mage, put in kezan. If facing a lot of aggro, consider adding anooy-tron instead of a haunted creeper or shredder. If facing control, maybe add murloc knight in pace of a haunted creeper or shredder.
