Mulligan Strategy
Vs Aggro (hunter, secret pally, zoo, tempo mage): Always keep= 2 Zombie Chow, 2 Haunted Creeper, 1 Earth Shock, 1 [card]Rockbiter Weapon[/card], 1 Lightning Storm, and if you have coin its safe to keep [card]Tuskarr Totemic[/card]
Vs Control/Mid(warrior, priest, druid): Always keep= 1 Zombie Chow, 2 Haunted Creeper, 1 Tuskarr Totemic, 1 Earth Shock, if you have coin it is safe to keep 1 Piloted Shredder. If you have Zombie Chow or Haunted Creeper you can also think about keeping Flametongue Totem
Deck Guide
This deck is easy to play but hard to master, with a little practice you'll be slaying every deck you come across except for maybe a freeze mage or a druid who gets turn 1 emperor thaurissan :/.. which brings me to our best and worst match ups.
Match ups
Control Warrior (70%): This is easily the best match up for our deck. The warrior doesn't have many ways to constantly deal with us flooding the board in the early games. These games tend to be over by turn 7 or 8.
Zoo (60%): As long as you get any type of early game or board removal to contest whatever the warlock throws out this is usually an easy win for us. Just make sure to keep an early game lightening storm.
Control Pally (60%): With the double earth shock and double hex we have many ways to deal with all the pallys strong late game minions and our lightening storm lets us break his early game down.
Druid (60%): Shaman has always been a strong class against these guys, the fact is they just don't have that many ways to deal with all of our totems. Just make sure you have a hex in hand for whatever they intervate out ;).
Secret Pally (55%): I really, really hate playing against these guys because so much of the entire match up can be something as simple as where avenge lands :/, however I still feel we have a slight edge here.
Priest (55%): Dragon priest is a very strong class with a ton of removal that can hit us hard, but as long as we can get the early board control and finish him off early with bloodlust or Al'Akir he doesn't have a chance.
Demon Lock (55%): Similar to the priest this deck has many ways to deal with our board, and if the match up goes late game we have little chance, however if we can get a solid board and get a blood lust in our hand we can finish these guys off early.
Tempo Mage (50%): This one is a true 50/50, just for the fact that tempo mage is so reliant on rng for success, if the mage draws all the cards he needs then they cant really be stopped but usually they have an awkward turn or two that lets us get back the board.
Rouge (50%): Don't worry no one plays rouge right?
Hunter (50): Kill them before they kill you, sounds simple but its usually not the case. I heard animal companion was getting nerfed soon so this would help this match up going forward.
Freeze Mage (45%): Luckily this class has fallen out of favor lately, but when you do meet one you need to get very lucky. With all the board freezes and clears there is little we can do, and since our with condition has to do with board presence this deck has us beat.
Possible Substitutions?
If you are facing more control or late game decks than usual I would consider swapping out a zombie chow for Big game hunter, other than that I feel this deck is pretty tuned for whats out there right now.
don't have Al'akri but put in The Mistcaller still works great nice deck
what do you think of putting in 1 mukla's champion in place of 1 thunder bluff? I'm running a deck that's similar to yours, and I find more often than not I have non-totem stuff on the board by turn 7
The only problem with muklas champion is it is easily killed because of its low hp. But try it out and let us know how it works!
mukla's champion is almost always a turn 7 play, but it gives a permanent buff to all your minions. very, very useful in tipping over those close games and sealing good ones, but usually doesn't survive more than 1 turn. If it manages to survive for more than 1 turn, you've pretty much won. Plus it absorbs a removal cuz it screams "DANGER!!!" every time it's played. I run nerubian eggs in my deck, so it has a bit of synergy there; might be a little worse for your deck. Usually I put down either a fire elemental or a dr. boom beforehand, elemental just for tempo play/make sure mukla isn't easily killed, dr. boom so I can (hopefully) have more bodies to buff.
Any decent sub for Al'Akir and lighting storm? I threw in forked lighting for now and ya ya I know there really isn't a "decent" sub for lighting storm but had to ask. Justikar, Sylvanas, Neptulon for Al'Akir ?
I would say doom hammer gives a more similar effect because of the windfury if you have it.
With patron out of the meta, would you consider running a single copy of doom hammer as Harrison is likely to be used less frequently
Honestly, I don't really see a fit for it in this deck because we already have alakir, but nothing hurts trying it out!
Just a troll account, pay no mind
True dat
this look like regular totem deck
I think it needs at least 1 blood lust, I would say 60% of my wins come from it. If you are going to use a heal I would suggest replacing a earth shock with a healing wave!
Just a rumor, no solid information
I replaced 1 Earth Shock for Healing wave to stand a chance against hunter. It seems pretty good.
Cool idea, let us know how it works for ya!
why no ferals that would drastically improve a lot of your match ups
Ferals are terrible for tempo, much rather have the double earth shock and double rockbiter
man that you win 2 games ok but this deck has no change so abd deck
It's not a bad deck, just takes some practice and ability to understand whats remaining in your deck to out think the opponent. I'm still currently over 70% win rate at this time with it.
this deck is good but bad against hunter
