Hey guys! 2-month veteran and objectively best pro player richardpwnsner here! I'm here to tell you about my new (old) deck, which was inspired by the eponymous 'Danksteed', and created last month at a local bar while I shielded my phone and told everyone who would listen I was texting. The weird thing is, it works (8-0 this morning, and with a headache no less).
Well, actually, it worked. Then it didn't. Because Patron Warrior. As soon as I hit rank fifteen, I started getting decimated. But with the upcoming Warsong Nerf, things are going to change. THE AGE OF THE DREADSTEED IS UPON US, AND THE EARTH WILL TREMBLE BENEATH THE FURY OF 1000 (well, 28) HOOVES.
If this deck gets 5000 upvotes, I'll write a guide. If it gets 500,000 upvotes, it'll forever taint my google footprint and doom my career arc. Thanks in advance for ignoring it!
Update: now with more drunk!
Later Update: too much drunk. Now with less drunk, but more win.
HUGE UPDATE: A couple weeks ago, I was having dinner with Ben Brode, and after several snifters of brandy and some excellent sushi, I admitted that I had some reservations about removing Stalaag and Feugen from this deck. Ben scoffed (he's kind of a dick) and said only a scrub would run those cards. But I persisted, and when I finally found my words--"Ben," I said, "it's the soul of the deck,"--something flashed in his eyes. The smirk fell off his face, and he leaned forward, took both my hands, and simply said "Then put. Them. BACK."
Well, it took a couple weeks of haggling with my sponsors at Adidas, but I've finally done it. As requested in the comments, slightly less win, and a whole lot more drunken fun.
Can I take the name of "Drunksteed" to battletag?
No.
I. Love. This. Deck.
It's a hard deck to play with to be sure, and your win ratio wont be over the top, but after a while you'll start to get the hang of it more and more and I'll guarantee you've never had so much fun with a deck before.
I've been messing with this deck on and off for the past month or so and I've noticed that unlike some decks that are "One-Trick-Ponys" *rimshot* (lookin at you Paladin Secret), this deck has multiple Walls that your opponent has to conquer to bring you down.
You see Thaddius a lot more than you'd think, and on occasion I've gotten 2 or 3 to spawn at once. Mal'Ganis is its own wall to climb, especially if you have a couple dreadsteeds or a full implosion already on the board. boosting your Taunts with Demonfire is fun. But more than anything I've found that it's pretty hard to lose if you just get 3-4 Dreadsteeds on the board alone. (if you've been keeping your enemy's side clear). cus then it's all sacrificing, heals and wearing them down until they have no cards left.
My deck is slightly different than the one above though. I run with Shadowflame for board clears instead of Gormok, and I took out a Mortal Coil and Shadow Bolt for 2x Power Overwhelming (they really help with clears, or making sure Fuegen/Stalagg die exactly when you need them to).
The Deck is hard to counter once it get's rolling, since Dreadsteeds are immortal and most decks only carry 1 silence card if any. The Problem is just getting those hooves up to speed. Regardless, lots of fun.
Havent had this much fun since i found porn for the first time.
Deck is not owning, but damn fun. Love the Knife Juggler - Dreadsteed combo.
Tried it out, completely shit and unreliable deck.
Yeah I crafted both Dreadsteed and Anima Golem. The only thing that bothered me was the lack of board clear for mid game. I also didn't feel like spending the dust on Gormok or using Hellfire.
Took Out: Shadow Bolt, Imp-losion x1, and of course not running Gormok.
Added: Power Overwhelming x2 and a Shadowflame to combo with Dreadsteed for board clear against Paladins, Dragon Priest, etc. Its working out pretty well
20 Games.... 0 Wins (at Rang 20).... awsome deck !
Why no Hellfire ?
Pretty sick so far had to switch out mal, with jax since I don't own mal. I used bane of doom instead of gormok and it's working pretty decent.
Dark Iron Dwarf maybe. Use it to buff one of steeds.
Real fun deck to play with. I like it very much. Takes a lil bit to learn how to play, but learning curve not too high.
I don't know if the deck is any good but have an upvote for the description friend!
I actually crafted the Dreadsteeds to play this though. Hope they ride me to legend kappa.
That is so beautiful on so many levels.
Someone Please get this guy 5000 votes. We fucking need this guide!!!!! :D, btw how good is Felguard in this?
I thought I was sooooo cool for inventing this (very similar) deck. Drop the second imp-lotion Hellfire is way better. Particularly good if you are running a Floating Watcher. Good luck getting Thaddius to leave the house. His girlfriend never lets him hang anymore. I would axe those cards and sub in some buffs like Demonheart and Demonfuse. 2 Demonfires is never enough, especially if you draw them early and are forced to use them as DMG instead of a buff.
I hope my own drunk doesn't upset this delicate balance.
That was hilarious, well written
Played with this deck a bit for about 3 days now. Deck has good early / late game. But making it through the mid game is EXTREMELY tough. A lot of fun synergy here though. Would not recommend for ranked however.
look at the cards and power at the mana cost compared to current decks. you fall behind very quickly to 70 percent of decks on the ladder. Its not competitive to say the least in any sense of the imagination and never could be. Fun but nothing to take seriously
Played this thing on casual last night won 6 in a row and got excited. Then lost 2. Took it on ladder and tanked from Rank 6 to 8. Danksteed hangover. Love popping out 2 Thadius (yes those cards work), but the deck is not consistent enough for the ladder in my hands.
