This is the current mage deck Trump used to get to Legendary on his new EU account. (Will update this as the deck changes, and leave the edits noted below to help those trying to keep the costs down!)
Trying to avoid the stigma that Hearthstone is completely "Pay-to-win", like Reynaud, Trump shows that low cost decks are viable as long as played properly.
Looks pretty good. I have a few of those cards from packs today as well. just started playing the game today so just working on a deck. For some reason my RNG nets me next to no Mage cards though which kind of sucks a bit :( I did get two legendary cards though which was sweet
I've lost 10 pounds in two weeks with this deck, it's awesome! Joking aside, it's fun and it's a solid base to tweak :) Thanks for sharing!
Luls. :)
It should be noted that this mage build & common alterations is well known by many players now & most have adjusted to it making it nearly useless in most cases. Trump is a very recognized Hearthstone player so his deck builds are often used with minor changes to a few cards. I ran this build for awhile until it got to the point that it was no longer being successful. Around a win in every 3 to 4 games on average. That one win only coming if I had a strong opening turn. It completely gets ran over by rush decks if you can't get anything out by your first or second turn. On that alone, your hand is forced at adding taunt cards, mirror image specifically, just so you can gain an extra turn or two to reestablish your strategy. Since Sunfury Protector needs a minimum of 3 turns to be somewhat beneficial & odds are, that 1 mana card that has taunt will only hold up for 1 turn. The build is not as good as it once was but it's still good enough to get you going in the right direction. Since the crafted cards in this build are top tier cards in many other builds. It's a good place to start if you're not willing to spend.
Some changes I would recommend
Swap one Argent Squire for Mirror Image. Mirror Image is a very strong opening card which often leads to the opposing player burning 2 turns trying to clear them. Best case scenario is it forces them to use a spell card to clear them which gives some breathing room to your mid game strategy. Granted it's very reliant that you can get mirror image out early but it has proven itself plenty of times during mid game as well.
Swap one Chillwind Yeti for [card]Sen'jin Shieldmasta[/card] - You'll be losing 1 damage but you'll be gaining a capable taunt card with the same amount of health. It's a pro & a con depending on when this card is played but it has bailed be out of taking a hit to the face numerous times where as the Yeti can be bypassed if it's not given a taunt via Sunfury Protector.
Issues with this build:
Has two Mana Wyrms which on paper, look great but it's attached to a build that has high cost magic skills that you have to be very situational with. In all, that Mana Wyrm hardly ever goes 2 for 1 as it's easly removed by the time it goes down a majority of the time. I ran them for while but I have switched to the Leper Gnome which is a guranteed 2 + 2+ damage to the face or board damage + 2 face damage. A much better card with instant results considering the amount of rush decks out there.
Boulderfist Ogre is a good card in its own right but most people sit on there removal cards. So I have not seen much success when throwing this on the board as most players will have a removal card in there hand by turn 6. If you're somehow lucky enough to still have this card is still in play by the next turn, then you are golden for a bit but as mentioned, with so many rush decks, you will be railing & the last thing you would want to be doing is relying on a 6 mana cost card that can be removed quickly. The orge is more effective if you have board control. Otherwise, it's just removal card bait. I still run them as I have yet to draw any legendary cards. They'll be removed once I do.
The changes listed above have increased my win rate. Running the build the way it was listed started to rack up to many losses. Use this build until you can switch over to a more capable deck such as Duckwingface's build. That deck has a remote chance to compete with paid or time allocated decks where as this one doesn't hold up as well. Check out Trumps F2P Shaman as well. That deck holds up a crap ton better.
I still run Mirror Image in my deck & have smacked opponents upside the head with it. The cards on there own don't seem like much but if you know how to use them & when to use them, you can change the game in your favor easily. You should see how frantic opponents get to remove them that they'll waste there big removal cards just to do so. If I want to threaten a board clear, I drop it with Doomsayer & then protect it with Counterspell. I have had players, especially rouges burn as much as 4 removal/spell cards just to clear it. They all were pretty much screwed after that once the big units came out. Mirror Image will always stay in my deck! Besides, who doesn't love Mana Wyrm, Coin, Mirror Image opening :P.
Sunfury Protector is obviously most valuable in combination with Boulderfist Ogre later in the game, but don't be afraid to use it on Amani Berserker, Harvest Golem, or Earthen Ring Farseer in the early game. Midgame, Water Elemental with Sunfury Protector is very strong against Druid/weapon Warrior because it freezes and prevents their attacks.
Swapping the Argent Squires for any combination of Arcane Missiles or Arcane Explosions is also very good.
I've gotten as far as I've gotten in the ranks all season with this simple, cheap deck. Odd, but very cool.
Great deck! Thanks to Trump and to ChaoticG8R for sharing it here. It is very hard to find decks on this site that don't include slew of legendary cards... Even those that "only" contain 2 that are necessary for the deck to work mean all relatively new players are shut out. It is wonderful to see at least one deck here that is useful for players who have created a few rares and in my case my first dust-created Epic a Faceless Manipulator.
I somehow scored a Pyroblast in a deck recently, and substituted that in for one of the Boulderfist Ogres to help finish a little easier. I find it helps quite often. Though I wouldn't suggest someone craft one and substitute it in it if they don't have it already.
If anyone is interested I posted a slightly altered/improved deck which includes a few better cards such as Cairne Bloodhoof and Alexstrasza!
Please come check it out!
Maybe 1x Acolyte of Pain and 2x Earthen Ring Farseer

Some of his mullings from his streams suggest some possible substitutes:
Arcane Missiles / Argent Squire x1 -> Mirror Image x1
Previous version that was used up through Rank 2 (and can help reduce the cost):
Faceless Manipulator x1 -> Gadgetzan Auctioneer x1
Argent Squire x2 -> Arcane Missles x2
Acolyte of Pain x1 -> Arcane Intellect x1
Earthen Ring Farseer x1 -> Flamestrike x1
