This deck is the most fun and enjoyable experience I've had in Hearthstone since pre-nerf changes in beta. This deck has everything a person wants that's looking for a efficient deck that can reach legend and above but most importantly, to have fun while doing so.
The RNG always mixes the deck up and you'll never know what type of game you'll have next time you play and yet it stays efficient even if so.
- Mulligan: Deck is mainly tempo so keep any early board control card or early board presence cards. Same applies for any type of match-up. [Mana Wyrm, Frostbolt, Unstable Portal, Mad Scientist, Sorcerer's Apprentice and even Flamewaker if you have coin]
- Combos: There are several combos within the deck. [Mana Wyrm + Spell, Rhonin + Archamge Antonidas and any type of Spell Damage,Flamewaker + Any spell, Effigy with any board presence and much more]
- Lategame: Rhonin combined with Archmage Antonidas should be a secure cycle for power and reach, for those control match-ups. Effigy with high cost drops combines extremely well. Nexus-Champion Saraad can win games alone if left un-checked.
- Cards to switch for meta Tech: If needed to swap/remove some cards for a different meta.[ Counterspell, Piloted Shredder and/or Polymorph. Polymorph is an excellent counter vs Secret decks and about every other high threat minion in the game of course so I would suggest, if needed, to remove it last. A cuple of tech changes could be i.e Replacing Counterspell with a Duplicate and replace any number of Piloted Shredders for Sludge Belcher or Antique Healbot. Low mana curve tech works as well, Flamecannon as an example. Some additional substitutes for Piloted Shredders are both Water Elemental and Mechanical Yeti. Those are both excellent cards and should be considered on equal footing as Shredders. It's more about your personal taste and playstyle.]
- Replacement: If your missing something like i.e Rhonin, look above and fill that slot with a tech card of your choice or something to fill the decks combination slot. And if you're brave enough or want to add a bit more "flare" to the RNG "fun" aspect, Spellslinger. Keep in mind, replacing to many cards makes it a different deck. Arcane Blast can be replaced by either Flamecannon or another Arance Missiles There is nothing wrong with running two Arcane Blasts if you prefer those over above suggestions.

- LoE: Since some questions and further interests has appeared I just want to make this clear. This deck is beyond a month old and as you know, a month is hearthstone is a lifetime in meta changes. The deck still does fairly well on ladder but I've done some minor changes to the current version I'm playing personally. I will list the bellow but I wont change it in the list, because of the decks age there is no reason to do so. Once again it reached legend ranks with these adjustments.
- 2 Fireball / +2 Forgotten Torch
- 2 Azure Drake / +2 Ethereal Conjurer

I don't usually stay up an hour past my bedtime playing decks I just built because they are so fun that I can't put them down, and especially not mage decks. You sir/mam have changed that.......well done.
P.S. I don't have an Arcane Blast or Rhonin, so I subbed in an Ice Block and a Mirror Entity. I also made the changes you mentioned and switched out 2 Fireball's for 2 Forgotten Torch's and 2 Azure Drake's for 2 Ethereal Conjurer's

Several games later, I have switched that Ice Block to a Duplicate. Having great success!
This deck gets beaten easily by: tempo mage, any fast rogue deck, zoo deck, Fel Reaver druid deck.. and probably anything else that is fast. So gg..

Experience varies from player to player. The deck does not win per automatic nor stronger than all the rest of the decks out there. The meta changes fast and the deck was uploaded over a month ago. This fact doesn't just apply to this deck but about every other deck there is out there other than the 2 staple decks that exists.
For this season I've changed cards to include Torch and some other goodies and yet again hit legend ranks, though since this deck is an older deck I won't update to change it. It had it's glorious moment and still does quite well on ladder. Add and remove what you think works for you or construct your very own deck and share it.

Ok, I'm absolutely disgusted by the card Rhonin. Please tell me i can use a second arcane missile instead?
This deck is fantastic and extremely fun to play. Very Strong against most meta decks.
I just added Emperor Thaurissan instead of arcane missiles; just because it is a card that almost always attracts removals. That cleans the pat for Antonidas.

Won only 1 game with this deck at rank9, now i am 12 again. Just registered on the site to tell this deck is nonsense if you do not draw good. lost vs any class and type. until you get your strengths with this deck you are already dead.
Having some trouble with Secret Paladins, but other than that , this deck has been dominating and fun .

I dont' get why people concerns itself about one slow card on a deck that is called "tempo". If everything is going well you will be ahead on the game, so you have time to play value/burst cards like Antonidas and Rhonin. It's not like you have 4 Rhonins on the deck, it's just one. You should have a problem with Rhonin only if you have a very bad starting hand, like all your high costs cards. Usually you have so much cheap spells that you just need one or two early game minions. And it's not an win more card, because in some games like against control warrior or priest you really need Rhonin burst.
I have not had this much fun with a Mage deck since my secret Mage pre GvG. If your mulligan is okayish, then this deck can beat most other decks. I must say I really love Effigy! My favorite play was turn 2 Unstable Portal (Chillmaw), turn 3 Effigy, turn 4 Chillmaw which got Win-axed/Execute'd into another Chillmaw! Yup, that Patron warrior died on turn 6.
Nice deck some kind of mid range mage or hybrid tempo.
I've played by original tempo mage around 500 games but this one I like much more because here you have late game pressure too, not only early, mid game. The hardest match up so far is dragon priest, glad that faced only couple of them
Today I went with this deck from 18 to 11 without any problem, will see how it works on higher ranks.
I've replaced Sarad with Loatheb because it suits better in tempo aimed deck and we have enough spells already to trigger Antonidas.
Update: this deck show itself pretty good against pally if you can counter spell muster for battle it gains insane tempo, so later you can deal with mysterious challenger or it is just auto win if we talk about rush pally.
And one more reason to play this deck now is that Zoo locks almost dissipated from ladder since TgT release.
Update2: for me this deck does not work higher than 10 rank (too much control decks) switched to handlock and going just fine
Excellent deck. I made a few revisions to fit the meta i'm facing
-1x counterspell, -1x piloted shredder, -1x Sorcerer's Apprentice, -1x azure drake -1x arcane blast
+1x duplicate, +1x water elemental, +2x mirror image, +1 flamecannon
Works great so far. I really like to have 2x mirror image to activate and protect the flamewakers. Pulling this off while they have weak (or zero) board would usually result in gg
This really is the most fun I've had playing hearthstone yet. I summoned Ronin with an effigy out and got kel'Thuzad when he died. Double Ronin. I then dropped baron Rivendare from an unstable portal and got 9 total missiles. I was laughing my butt off. I love this deck.
I want to change Arcane blast, something good for sub?
Probably 2nd Arcane Missiles.

Don't replace it since with azure on borad you get 4 dmg to any creature just for 1 mana. Also it is cool combo - Flameweaker + coin + arcane blast = kill any early game creture.

If you absolutely have to replace this card go with a Mechanical Yeti. You need more spells for the Archmage Gimmicks. Yeti trades with equal efficiency as Saraad. Loatheb is somewhat of a dead card in this deck.
