Total Deck Rating
205
Hi, my name is MTGOStark and I've been playing strategy games for the better part of a decade. I've placed either at Rank 1 or somewhere in the Top 100-200 in nearly every strategy game I've played, including League of Legends, Dawn of War II and Magic: The Gathering Online. I started playing Hearthstone last year, and I've reached a peak ranking of Legend Rank 2 with this deck in the September 2015 Season so far.
Secrets Pally has only been around for a couple of weeks so a perfect list has yet to be refined. Personally I believe the best list would be centered around an aggro strategy, since the 1-mana secrets share a really great synergy with small but powerful aggro creatures, and Divine Favor. With this list I was able to attain Rank 2 Legend on the NA server so it's probably good enough to climb ladder (I won a couple more games at Rank 2 but wasn't able to get Rank 1, alas).
Mulligan
As a general rule of mulliganing, you basically want a) a curve, and b) the best cards in your deck. For this deck the mulligan targets are:
- Secretkeeper(s) + secrets
- Divine-Shield Minions
- Divine Favor (depending on the matchup - certainly vs. control and usually if you're on the play)
- Mysterious Challenger
- Some secrets are okay to keep depending on your hand and your opponent. For instance noble sacrifice is a decent keep against a face hunter, redemption is a decent keep if you have all divine shield minions in your hand, etc.
Strategy
- The strategy is to deal damage and control the board, then drop Mysterious Challenger on Turn 5/6 to end the game. Usually if it resolves when the opponent has nothing on the board you win, and Pally happens to be one of the best board control classes.
Blessing of Might on a divine shielded minion pretty much the first chance you get.
Divine Favor for 3+ (less than 3 and I think you are losing too much tempo...sometimes it can't be helped but Arcane Intellect by itself isn't too bad of an effect either)
Before dropping Challenger you should try to control board, after dropping Challenger your goal should be to end the game by going face.
Consecration to control board, Truesilver Champion usually goes face.
Card considerations
- Knife Juggler. Knife juggler normally fits well in an aggressive deck, but it's actually not so great in the current meta. Patron dominates so turn 2 Slam or War Axe is an easy and common counter, Tempo Mage has frost bolt or mad scientist, Hunter has quickshot, Pally has Shielded MiniBot etc. I think the minions with divine shield really spell trouble over the field right now, since the divine shield usually takes at least 2 mana to get rid of but costs almost none by itself.
- Annoyotron. Annoyotron doesn't have the best aggressive combat stats, but it has divine shield which is important for this deck, and also protects a more important minion such as a pumped up Secretkeeper or Mysterious Challenger. It's also a soft counter to Unleash the Hounds which is a danger for this deck. It also pairs with redemption to be almost twice as annoying.
- Dr. Boom/Tirion. These legendaries are some of the best in the game, but completely wrong for this deck's curve. Most of the time they will just debuff Divine Favor by getting trapped in your hand.
This list is still a work in progress but has worked well for me so far. A couple people I know have already tried it and reached Legend with it so hopefully you'll find some success as well.
Stream
I'm also planning to start streaming, I'll offer free coaching and Legend gameplay - for those that are interested my stream is at http://www.twitch.tv/MTGOStark 6pm Pacific, 8pm Central, 9pm Eastern.
Thanks for reading and good luck on ladder!
This deck is fantastic. Currently at 27-4 and rank 9 on the ladder, it's the only consistent deck I have found since TGT was released. It's very fast so it's often hard for even patron warriors to deal with.
losses so far have been against a mage who was running arcane explosion, 2 handlocks(I think the major weakness of this deck) and 1 patron warrior who actually knew how to play(most below rank 10 have no clue)
i dont have Leroy so I'm using Tirion and it works a treat (especially as a finisher to patrons) most expect agro decks when they see leper gnomes come out so they blow their removal early which allows you to use him to finish them.
Absolutely insane deck ! This is by far the best secret deck I have played, I am currently at rank 3 with it ( moved from rank 6 - 3 using this deck) I used 600 dust to get this deck and it was defiantly worth it . The curve looks ridiculous but it really works ! The divine favour and mysterious challenger are all the mid game this deck needs. I swapped lerroy Jenkins for a second true silver because it can be used anytime in the game, heals for 4 ( great against hunters), deals 8 damage instead 6, have never seen a situation where the extra 2 damage has cost me and finally I don't have lerroy Jenkins lol.
What a great deck, Currently 10-2 on the climb from Rank 13 to 9.
I had just gotten Leeroy from a pack and decided to test him with this deck. DEFINITELY WORTH IT!! Leeroy truly packs a punch with Blessing of Might, and he has decided a lot of games that would've been otherwise unwinnable.
I changed -Competitive spirit for +Blessing of Kings and -Argent Squire for +Coghammer
Deck somehow works against Dragon Priest and Handlock without silences, which is sick
I tested your decks in legend ranks for a day yesterday and I have to say good job, I like it.
I don't like the consecration in the deck though. It's a card for board presence that you don't really need. You have the sickest early game and board presence should never be a real issue if you don't draw crappy. The real problems for this deck are Priest (Dragon and Control) plus Warrior (Patron and Control).
Priest is able to give you either an awkward early game with 1 drop + power word shield. Also Holy Nova and Pyromancer are a huge pain in the ass.
Patron has a lot of Whirlwind effects and gets easily rid of Challenger via Execute.
Control Warrior is easily able to stall you out. A good timed Brawl often finishes this deck off, since after the 1st Challenger the deck is often out of gas and no threat to warrior anymore.
I thought of a way to make both matchups better, without making it weaker against other aggro decks. My solution atm is - Consecration, - Leeroy Jenkins or Competitive Spirit, + 2 Blessing of Kings.
Blessing of Kings has a lot of synergy with your divine shield minions, of which you are running 6. Even a dude turning into a 5/5 is a big deal.
It helps your matchups a lot against Priest. You now have a much easier time to get over their big taunts. Your minions are now in Shadow Word Death Range, which isn't really a big issue, since now they won't have it for the Challenger.
Against Patron you get your minions out of whirlwind kill range. And a buffed divine shield minion can often give them a hard time.
Against Control Warrior you are able to put more pressure on your opponent. This pressure is needed, since you won't win against Ctrl Warrior if the games goes into the late game.
I hope I could help :)
>2HP left
>Attack hunter with [card]Truesilver Champion[/card]
>Activates Explosive Trap
>Take the 2 damage but the trusilver heals me for 2 before I die.
>4 + 10 from Mysterious Challenger for lethal.
>fall out of my chair lamoing
best deck tbh fam
Got me from rank 15 to 8 on a crazy winstreak.
Like this deck.
Just yesterday climbed from rank 15 to 5 where I am now. The only difficulty I felt was the priest. When they fit the 2/4 and 3/6 in the sequence. The owl does not go well right? Nice deck btw
nice deck from rank 17- rank 11
but i did -1 Abusive Sergeant and - 1Leeroy Jenkins
+ 2 Sea Giant i don't have leeroy :D
i feel your pain bro, but if you can't beat e'm than join e'm!!! and this deck is very good man, thank you so much for the list!!!
lol..i run a similar deck and i love it, but if you are crying about it, is becuz u dont know how counter it....2bh is so easly defeated by so many deks...my advice....read what the secrets do and try to play around them..
you're delusional.
why..bcuz u think its the all mighty deck ..i like it and i run it but it doesnt make it op...if u cant win against secret pally, then im so sorry XD
Ive beaten this deck many times (maybe not exact list), been beaten by it many times. Winning against it is more satisfying than against face hunter. I also like playing it, when I wanna take a break from my control decks. It's fast and fun.
The way to beat it honestly is to have a control deck. For example, using Midrange Pally, you can pop the defender secret, itll revive, then the avenge will hopefully land on challenger if you have BGH, otherwise hopefully you have peacekeeper. Clear the board best you can. It's the win condition so taking it away almost ensures victory. That's just one example, theres also shield slam and execute with warrior, handlock has many removals and mage is good too. Just have to pop secrets right.
agreed, you just have to memorise the secrets, and honestly try to keep board control, although it is not always the easiest against a class that does that the best. but bgh'ing mysterious challenger is the best feeling. don't feel bad bodycounter89, it'll get better.
Love the deck, currently 13-0 with it now actually IM LOVING IT
Where do you think are the flex spots in this deck? I'm considering swapping leper gnomes for creepers for more board control early.
Any suggestion instead of [card]Leeroy Jenkins[/card]?
I replaced it with Blingtron 3000 for fun but found out it works amazingly well :D if you have it give it a try
Awesome deck :D 8-4 atm and got from rank 9 to 8 ^^ It sucks if you always lose the third game so you don't get a bonus star e.e
