Hello everyone:
Today I bring to you a competitive deck with a fun playstyle that includes many of the new cards from The Grand Tournament expansion.
It is the Mid - Range Shaman deck that Trump played on stream the day of TGT's release (8/24/15).
Here is the Card Choice Guide for the Deck:
Earth Shock: Really depends on the other cards in your starting hand. Is there alot of early game such as Totem Golem, Rockbiter Weapon and Zombie Chow? Than keep it, especially against Priest and Mage for those pesky 1/3 drops that seem to dominate the early turns. If not, mulligan.
Rockbiter Weapon: 1 cost deal 3 Damage is awesome for early game. Like Earth Shock, it takes care of any pesky 1 drops and most 2 drops. Always keep this card.
Zombie Chow: Awesome early game control card. Always keep this card.
Flametongue Totem: Really personal preference with this one, although similar to Earth Shock you need the early game to flow with it.
Haunted Creeper: One of the better 2 drops in the game. Great synergy with Defender of Argus. Always keep this card.
Totem Golem: WHAT MAKES THIS DECK TICK. Turn 1 Coin + this is literally the best turn 1 possible with the deck.
Mana Tide Totem: I didn't actually roll with this card. Trump did, however. I used Healing Wave instead, as I was facing many face hunters and other aggro decks alike and I felt that it was better to have some healing for the late game. Not sure if you should keep this or not.
Hex: Shaman's Polymorph. Use this on their Dr. Boom's and Sylvanas Windrunner's, and make sure to say "Thanks" after for max BM. Never keep this card.
Lightning Storm: Good board clear. Not used in early game. Never keep this card.
Tuskarr Totemic: THE OTHER CARD THAT MAKES THIS DECK WORK! I have gotten Totem Golem like 75% of the time and it's so valuable if you get that because it doesn't add the Overload, so it is literally 3 cost 3/2 and 3/4. Flametongue Totem also comes out of it, which can also be incredible.
Defender of Argus: Taunt up boys. Try to hit your totems and Haunted Creeper's. Mulligan this and hope you draw it later when you need it.
Piloted Shredder: Actually sometimes ok to keep this with a solid drop(s) before it, such as Totem Golem and Tuskarr Totemic. Keep it if you have one of these + Coin.
Azure Drake: Great synergy with Lightning Storm, plus free card draw and the 4/4 body. Never keep this card.
Thunder Bluff Valiant: Another new card that makes the deck possible. What's awesome about it is that it summons the totem BEFORE the inspire effect happens, so you get a totem that gets +2 attack. It's really good late game when you have a board of totems to push towards lethal. Never keep this card.
Fire Elemental: Shaman deck essential (if you actually need analysis on this one, please comment below...) Never keep this card.
Dr. Boom: Best 7 drop in the game. No explanation needed. Never keep this card.
So, please let me know what you think of the deck! I am currently using it in ranked and am getting more success than Waker Tempo Mage and Patron warrior. People don't know that totem's are so powerful so they often will overlook them and hit face or other non-totem minions. Use the freshness of the meta to your advantage!
Best of luck,
StormLoGic
EDIT 8/28: I have been facing a lot of control decks lately and am currently stuck at Rank 8. I am thinking about cards to cut / tech in and will let you guys know what I decide. Please feel free to leave me suggestions in the comment section below!
Leper Gnome is always a classic.
Any minion that you feel gives early board control/clear. Leper Gnome can be good considering it also hits face.
Congrats on the insane laddering! Keep on grinding and thanks so much for the feedback!
I am at Rank 8 and I am facing alot more control decks, which is causing me to slow down. I am going to look into tech cards to help with control decks.
I'm having a hard time with this deck. Currently 1-6. I get to the point where i have a good board and I'm already dead. Must be doing something wrong...
Are you using Healing Wave? I think that it is what saves you late game if you are versus an aggro deck, or what puts you out of reach of druid combo
yea i love deck but im thinking about removing 1 hex for soemthing else... also i would like to replace 1 flametongue totem
Hmm, I like double hex, but I usually don't get to utilize my Flametongue as it becomes a huge target for them to kill, especially mage with Frostbolt. Let me know that you substitute in and tell me how it goes! :D
I tossed Maiden of the Lake in there instead of the Shredders and it's worked pretty well... they usually get removed, but that's one less removal they'll have for stuff that matters. And if you get one or two turns along with Valiant in the mid-game it can get fun. Also using Mist Caller instead of Boom. Former is a game breaker if you can get it out in time.
And I don't have Boom.
Great deck and results so far though. Thanks.
Glad to know it's working well for you, however, Thank Trump! :)
I'm playing with this deck and is very good. But sometimes I've a very bad early game and a i loose very quickly :S
Any replacement for Dr. Boom?
Bloodlust seems to be what the comments say! :)
Kel'Thuzad seems nice to me especially when your board is in a brink of extinction or Bloodlust for exceptional damage.
im gonna craft this deck right now cuse looks awesome also here is + for you but please track your ranked stats cuse im just trying it in casual for now :P
Sorry for not doing it earlier. I will start doing it At 9 with 1 stars. But I went from 13 to 9 with only like one loss to freeze mage (which was surprising to me, because you usually don't see freeze mage that low!
Nice!
Edit: Fuck, I wrote mage in title. GGWP
