Miracle OTK Priest (75% W/R) (temporary guide)
Card choices:
- The 3 Holys: Holy Smite, Holy Nova and Holy Fire work as removals as damage bursters.
- Mind Blast: Our best card to combo with Prophet Velen and/or with Malygos. Always save for the combo unless you've lethal.
- Zombie Chow: The best 1-drop anti-aggro. Since this deck lacks on board, Zombie Chow is really important to stop the early agression.
- Emperor Thaurissan: Absolutely amazing card. Use to low the price of the combo pieces so we can possible deal more than 20 damage in the same turn we play Prophet Velen or Malygos. Without Emperor Thaurissan, this deck wouldn't be that good, not even close.
- The draw engine: The rest of the cards in the deck are our draw engine.
A combo deck like this needs to draw the combo pieces as fast as possible, so what we need? Card draw! It's simple as that.
There are interesting cards that can possible change the game in our favor.
These cards are Bloodmage Thalnos, Azure Drake, Mass Dispel and Velen's Chosen (which isn't included in the draw engine but I want to talk about it in this section).
As Bloodmage Thalnos as Azure Drake as Velen's Chosen have 1 thing in common: Spell Damage.
The spell damage can be really important in this deck, here are some examples:
Against Patron Warrior you can use your Holy Nova to deal 3 damage or more to all enemy's minions so you can get rid of this boring Grim Patron.
Velen's Chosen can be really important to have in the starting hand, when attached to Northshire Cleric, Zombie Chow or Acolyte of Pain can give you the board control as a lot of card draw, so sometimes if you already have a 1 and a 2 drop in hand, mulligan for Velen's Chosen.
The +1 spell damage when comboed with Prophet Velen, works as a +2 spell damage, so sometimes Bloodmage Thalnos can be used as a combo piece too.
just won a game against hunter by 2 hps and that's easily accounted for with haunted creaper, and argent squire, to mention tempo lost from getting those easily cleared by my starting minions and the card i drew.
and the game before that mass dispel devastated zoo
Yes, definitely. Sometimes 2 Mass Dispel is too much, shadow word death is really important to deal with big threaths.
Pyromacer is fine, works preaty well with acolyte.
I know what this needs for when full guide comes out. I commented on this a couple days ago but gonna try it out today xD. It needs like all the combinations or something. Just to know how much spells can be used for removal I'm a noob priest player but I think that was what made learning freeze for me easier ^^
edit - damn, I may have crafted Velen for no reason (don't worry I have pretty much every legend so haven't lost out still 5.2k dust left) maybe just my noobness but practicing in casual gone 5-7 card draw is insane but hmm..I feel very 50/50 at the minute. Although when I have won the deck works pretty crazy
Finally people are running Mass Dispel in OTK decks! I first introduced the idea in my priest OTK, and stated that priest is good for OTK specifically because it has access to Mass Dispel.
If Handlock is getting you down you might want to trade a SW:D for a Lightbomb. Almost all cards a handlock play will be removed by it while yours are either expendable once on the board, should give you Lethal by that time ( Velen, Malygos ) or a single Power Word: Shield away from surviving it ( Thaurissan, mostly, but I don't see him surviving long against a handlock anyway ).
Interesting
Thought about subbing a holy nova for lightbomb?
if not, what else would you swap for it? im struggling vs patron
This looks fun, like last season I was only using combo decks; Druid Combo, Malylock and Freeze Mage to climb from the start to rank 5 only because I enjoy them. I would love to see this with guide and test it out to climb for the start of this season! +1
thx ^-^
I made a similar deck to this recently, a little less card draw, more control, in an attempt to find a decent priest deck.. honestly, I love playing decks like these, it just got me nowhere sub rank 10. I didn't necessarily drop any rank, just kind of stayed hovering the same rank.
I did find that most games I lost was because I did not get Emperor early game. I added a Faceless Manipulator into my deck and found it quite useful.. not sure if you can fit it in, but just a thought. Especially for a possible copy on ET (rarely happens).
Good luck!
I'm working on the guide for help everyone who is interested on the deck ^^
