Hey guys, I am a very experienced priest player, and I have posted a few decks here already, with some meager success. Hunter is my second favorite class, but I hate that pretty much all hunter decks are aggro, as I am a control player. This is my proof that Hunter does not have to be aggro!!!!
To Start off I will say that I am not the sole creator of this deck. It was inspired by Saturos Control Hunter. http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/221841-legend-saturos-control-hunter I simply made a few changes of my own to it (-1 sea giant, -1 animal companion, -1 savannah highmane, +1 hunter's mark, +1 antique healbot, and +1 Deathwing)
Mulligans: Pretty much anything 3 mana or less... if you already have a good curve you can keep 4 drops and sometimes even 5s. As I say in all my decks, the most important part of mulliganing is to have a plan. Know what you will do turns 1-3 at least.
Hard Matchups: Priest, Hunter
Easy Matchups: Rogue, warrior
Neutral Matchups: All others
Strategy
This deck Aims to control the board while whittling down the opponent's health. In the endgame is when this deck shines, with a highmane, Dr. Boom, and DEATHWING!!! In a control heavy meta you may want to add in the second highmane.
Hunter does not have a hero power that controls the board, and as you you may fall behind on board somewhat regularly. When this happens we have unleash the hounds and Deathwing to fight back on board. Deathwing is absolutely worth running in control hunter, as the main problem with control hunter has always been lack of a board clear.
Thanks for checking out this deck! Please leave a +1 If you liked it, so others can see it as well! If you have any questions, feel free to ask in the comments, as i will check fairly regularly.
Fun deck, thank you! The Steamwheedle Snipers really seem to catch people off guard and show them it's not a normal Hunter deck.
I've played 64 games with it and won 36, but it's actually better than that... After only winning 6 of my first 20, I've gone 30 for 44 (68%), which I attribute to not knowing exactly how to play it early on. Lots of decisions to be made, which makes it a very entertaining deck.
You have to play your secrets intelligently. Don't play snakes when it seems likely to be a patron turn. Sometimes they will get snakes from a scientist and punish you, but not very often. If you see too many patron warriors you can swap out snakes as well
How do u deal with patron? Especially with snake trap, they can just abuse snakes and patron up
Cool!
Down with mindless face hunter!
