Hi.
I know the title looks misleading but it's true. I had an insane win rate from rank 3 to Legend. I might have also been the luckiest guy but let me explain why this deck worked.
First, I would like to detail my background a little. I started playing last May and besides the first two months, always been consistently rank 5 or better. I didn't have the time or energy to grind it out to Legend. This season was the first time I've achieved Legend. I was actually not planning for Legend this season but the deck just worked extremely well and got me there.
I was using different decks to rank 4 and 3 this season when I saw a shift in meta where there were more midrange/tempo and control decks appearing to counter the amount of zoos and hunters. I decided switch to Mech Shaman to counter those decks. Mech Shaman's pressure and progressing board presence with beefy minions performs very well against most control decks (Warriors and Handlocks, etc.). It's also good against Mech Mage (faced one) since shaman Mechs out values theirs. The weakness to Mech shaman according to Tempostorm were Zoo and Hunters. I faced a few but were able to pull off wins against them. Against them, it's all about the start and if you can get your early 1 or 2 drops, you can win. Rockbiter is good if you have coin. My matches against Hunters were Very Close! Fel reaver/bursts helps A lot.
Questions you might have:
Why two earthshocks?
- Pros - Helps against Twilight Drakes, Taunts, Mad scientists, Eggs, even a leper gnome/loot hoarder.
- Cons - Sucks have have two in your hand. You can replace this card with another mech, flame tongue, or Ragnaros.
Why Fel Reaver?
- Fel Reaver is a great body for 5 mana. The discard/burning of cards is not a huge drawback since you will win the game most of the time without going through your entire deck. Even if your opponent have a removal for him such as bgh, hex, siphon soul, execute, they would have wasted their removal and you still have big dudes coming in such as fire elemental and dr. boom.
- Play Fel Reaver as soon as you can and hopefully on curve (turn 5 or 4 with mech warper). Try not to play two Reavers at once. You will fatigue fast in that way.
- Weaknesses - cheap taunts (mirror image, annoyatron), sludge belcher, aldor peacekeeper, and bgh.
General Mulligan:
- Mulligan for 1 or 2 drop minions or a nice curve such as 1 drop, 2 drop, then 3 drop minion.
I usually won't keep a 3 drop minion unless i have something to play on turn 1 and 2 or if I have coin.
Priority cards are Cog Master, Mechwarper, Annoy-o-tron in your starting hand then Whirling Zap-o-matic.
- Depending on the match up, there are situational cards I would keep in my starting hand such as Earth Shock, Powermace with coin, and Rockbiter Weapon(with coin).
Some Tips on how to play:
- You first 3 turns are very important. If you have coin, mechwarper and annoytron in your starting hand. Don't coin mechwarper on turn 1, instead play mechwarper, coin annoytron on turn 2. This way your opponents will have more difficulty removing your two minions on their turn. Find ways to protect your mech warper or at least use its discount.
- Annoy-o-tron is a great card to protect your mech warpers, whirling zap-o-matics, and big minions.
- You want to play your minions on curve and do not hold back unless you suspect an AOE clear. This is an aggressive deck, you want to be playing minions every turn. If they do stabilize, you still have burst that can win you the game such as crackle, lava burst, rockbiter, doomhammer.
Combos - Rockbiter with doomhammer (10 damage). Rockbiter with whirling zapomatic (12 damage).
- Depending on the match up, you will need to control the board in the early turns, This is not an all face deck. Once you control the board, your big minions will do their job and can kill the opponent in two/three turns. *Don't use Fel Reaver to trade or attack their minions unless you need to prevent lethal, 90% of the time, he attacks FACE.*
- Power mace is a great weapon to gain tempo, it usually clears two enemy minions and can give your mechs a buff.
Additional comment added June 5th
- I just watched my friend play this deck and now I understand why some people are having trouble with it. The Early Turns are extremely Important! Sometimes they play themselves because of your starting cards, but there's definitely some decision making for optimal plays and what to trade and how. These are the tough decisions when you don't have an optimal starting hand. It can win or lose you the game by turn 4. Unfortunately, I can't elaborate more since it's depending on the match up and what minions your opponent have on board. As stated above, this is not an All Face Deck. You need to control the board in the early turns.
Substitutions:
Fel Reaver - Fireguard Destroyer, Mech Yeti
1 Earth Shock - Clockwork Gnome, flame tongue totem, Hex, Kezan Mystic
Doomhammer - Sorry, non replaceable. Too much burst potential
*New* Here's My Video Explaining the deck.
Here's a video of a Hearthpwn member playing my deck on ladder.

Thanks for reading. Feel free to ask questions below.
the 100% win rate is a bit high, but it works pretty good IMO.
Hi.
I'm new to streaming and currently streaming New Demon Handlock on Legend Rank. If you would like to learn how the deck is run or would like to see other decks being play, please check out my stream at http://www.twitch.tv/iamdannywu
Thank you.
I'm also the author of a Mech Shaman deck to Legend.
Not sure if it's just me but Fel Reaver seems to lose me the game 80% of the time. I keep hearing of him winning games on his own from other players but it just seem dead to me past turn 5. Any suggestions guys?
Thanks Hako for your amazing feedback and your commitment to ladder entirely with this deck to Legend this season! You are completely correct when you say you have to play this deck according to the meta and time. Just like any deck out there, there's counter decks. If you are facing aggro decks which are faster, I do not recommend using this deck.
Unfortunately I haven't been too inventive with decks the past two seasons and have been laddering with popular decks out there such as patron warrior, mid hunter, CW and hand lock. Things will shake up nicely when The Grand Tournament gets released. Exciting!
Start saving gold. :)
Thanks and Happy Laddering !
Another mech will be fine. :)
Hey man thanks for sharing this deck it works a treat.
I had built a similar deck but made some adjustments after seeing this one.
1 thing though: I found I was getting walked all over whenever I pulled Fel Reaver out - opponents love to go all out on it and it hurts to see so many usable cards trashed in one hit just to have him removed in the same turn - so... I actually traded them with 2x Venture Co. Mercenary of all things! :) Seems to be working quite well.
Well played.
Hi, thanks for your input. i'm glad you are liking the deck. i'm not a fan of venture co because it prevents you from playing a follow up threat on turn 6 such as fire elemental. also no mech synergy to benefit from powermace of mech warper. u can try fireguard destroyers or mech yetis if u don't like fel reaver
a member just emailed me saying they got to legend on eu server using my decklist today.
Happy Laddering!
Is this deck still effective? I already have one Fel Reaver (got it from a pack), but i'm not sure about crafting another. Can i just run Mechanical Yeti or something instead?
xnirvashh from below reached Legend with this deck this season. :)
the beginning of the month it got me to rank 10, then it dropped me to rank 17.. its a greatly fun deck but highly based on RNG of the opening hand.
Hey Danny,
Didn't give up on mech shaman and got to legend ytd. Just so you everyone has reference that the deck still works. Although highly RNG. haha
Nice! Congratz!! Awesome Job. I still love this deck when i want to smash my opponent's face. :)
I haven't been climbing with this deck much though. Hit Legend with Hand lock this season :)
Have Fun!
Hey, thanks for responding the other day. You're a really cool guy; I hope to see more content from you in the future.
I have another question. On liquidhearth they have rated Mech Shaman pretty far down at #15 and have this to say: "Zoolocks, Hunters and Warriors, oh my! The big three spell disaster for Mech Shaman and a coin flip just to get a good enough hand to compete isn’t enough to justify this deck. That being said, Trump has used this deck quite successfully in the HTC Recharged tournament two weeks ago."
Favorable Matchups: Midrange Druid
Unfavorable Matchups: Freeze Mage, Midrange Shaman, Midrange Demonzoo
Do you agree with their assessment of mech shaman? They don't make it sound appealing to play.
it think this deck mainly has trouble with control decks
Weak: Wallet warrior (shield slam your big minions), oil rogue (if he gets correct removal), face hunter (you can't outpace him), aggro pally (due to true silver and muster)
it fairs against other top tier decks quite well.
Grim Patron (you lose to early weapons, and refrain from using 2 attack minions after turn 5), zoo (try to keep his board clear, zoo loses to weapons), handlock (you can wreck these easily with 2 earthshock, watch out for hellfire), midrange hunter (frost traps can get you, if you see them a lot just add Kezan), freeze mage (kezan their iceblock)
Hi All. The deck will have trouble against most aggro decks such as face/hybrid hunter, zoo, aggro pally, and even midrange pally. It's simply not as fast as those decks. With good draws, you can still win but more likely will lose to these fast decks.
In my experience, I never had a problem against warrrior, CW is too slow to stop the flood of minions (same problems they have against midrange hunter). Patron is also too slow as they need a late turn to do combos and if they are spending their spells such as inner rage and whirlwind on your minions, they won't have anything left to activate patron and frothing.
The deck should win against most control decks but not an auto win. If you look at tempo storm match up charts, they have some match ups at 60/40. Even though you are favor to win, it's only 6 out of 10 games, you still lose 4 of them on average. A lot of people make the mistake that when you are seen as favored to win, that you should win easily and all the time. :T
Good Luck on your ladder climb everyone! I'm thinking if i should make a video guide for other popular decks since people liked my first video.
:)
Why 2 spider tanks instead of 2 harvest golem? People generally consider harvest golem the better of the two.
They are both good. Spider tank has higher health and attack. Survives most Aoe effects while maintaining the 3 attack. harvest golem is less of a threat but good if you are playing against more aggro, the deathrattle minion can trade with another.
This deck still works pretty decent. Went 11/4 around rank 7 today. I still run the deck without fel reavers
Sounds good!. Hope you continue your great win percentage :)
I think you are better off without them, every time I see mech shaman I just burn their whole deck. I just saw exact copy of this deck and the moment he had 3 cards in his deck left I knew I had won. Good if opponent has very bad deck with too many too expensive minions so he can only burn 3 or 6 cards/turn, but against zoo or midrange or even control with good draw? Remember that even control has cheap cards, CW for example could easily burn your deck in two turns: Armorsmith, Acolyte of Pain, Whirlwind just as an example, 6 mana to destroy third of your deck. Have fun dying because of fatigue on round 8.
