EDIT: I have made a more midrange version of this deck that works better for climbing from rank 5 - legend, found here: http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/250150-tempo-aggro-mage-rank-5-legend . This deck has successfully finished my climb to legend.
This deck really doesn't need a "full deck writeup"
Seriously it requires about 12 IQ to play, simply mully for low cards / maybe a flamewaker and shit on noobs. Flamewaker + mirror image is a retard combo and the coin is amazing value. Easily reach top 5 - legend no problem with this. Not to mention games are under 5-7 mins unless you write a guide while playing a game like I did, GG WP HAVE FUN BROS, F O R S E N B O Y S, T U C K F R U M P
Sorry I was pretty drunk when I put this together but I'll leave the description as is.
In terms of the mulligan, generally keep Mad Scientist, Mana Wyrm, and Clockwork Gnome. Two Mana Wyrm or Mad Scientist can be okay, but generally you don't want two of the same minion. You most likely don't want two Clockwork Gnomes to start
If you have the coin, keeping Flamewaker, can be a great set up to win the game by turn 5. Turn 3 Flamewaker + coin + Mirror Image is crazy strong. Flamewaker + low cost spells is the reason I run Sorcerer's Apprentice
Keeping Sorcerer's Apprentice can also be very strong if you have low cost spells along with it, and can help you set up a turn 5/6 win.
If you are playing against a matchup where early aggression could be an issue (mech aggro, knife jugglers, animal companions) or annoying early cards (Northshire Cleric or Shade of Naxxramas) then keeping a flamecannon or frostbolt is a good idea.
Feel free to discuss, criticize, and ask questions. I will probably add more to the guide if people are interested.
Thoughts from players:
"Wow, can't believe how quick the results were this deck. Such overpowered, many doge.
Some substitutions should be made depending on your opponents during your play session. For example, this deck can be made into a midrange deck with only a few card switches. Very versatile, generally strong deck against the current meta." -POTATOHEAD12
"This deck is more cancerous than my chat. But potent cancer, like th 420 I smoke." -Forsen, May 14 2015
Please rate up deck so I am inclined to improve guide so any pleb can reach legend with ease!
Just an amazing deck and also very fun to play!
Congratulations men
Had to post. 25-5 is a winrate of 83%... umm.. dude seriously. LRN 2 MATH.
Rank 25 -> Rank 5 with a 95% winrate
God you're dumb.
Would Ragnaros the Firelord make a good sub for Archmage Antonidas?
Yeah it would be a fine replacement.
i'd argue in favour of Toshley if you have him, synergizes well with flamewakers, strong body non bgh-able, follows aggro tempo more
Beat 6 warriors in a row on a streak from rank 9 to rank 6.
The main strategy is to make their removal as awkward as possible (Gnomes eat FWAxes very well, wasting weapon damage and giving parts), deny draw as much as you can (don't feed them cards/armor from Acolytes/Armorsmiths), and try to finish with Antonidas or huge value Flamewaker turns.
Don't drop your hand too quick against control. With your board, try to walk the line where they can't NOT clear it, but they don't get much value from doing so. Frostbolt can be helpful in delaying/preventing weapon damage. Keep your face damage consistent and try to keep a couple of reactive cards in hand so you have options should they recover enough to drop an actual threat.
As for patron, try not to leave your Flamewaker unprotected past turn 4 (3 if they can coin) unless you can keep control and deal damage the next few turns without it. Also, he's 2 free spawns for them on a Warsong-Patron turn, and you don't want to leave the removal to luck with MIssiles or another Flamewaker. Mirror Image works VERY well as one-turn insurance from this, as do Loatheb and your secrets (if already primed; a late Scientist is just a free Patron for them).
TL;DR: Keep them on the back foot but don't overextend.
Demolished a warrior without taking any damage in my first attempt with this deck.
Needs Blingtron.
How do you feel about Gazlowe in this deck? Have no boom or archmage ;(
The big minion slot is for a finisher, gazlowe provides more low cost spells that work with antonidas, but you don't have him. Pyroblast provides some finishing power but is clunky, so i suppose you could use it instead of antonidas. You NEED boom in many decks, this one is the same. Boom is OP 7 drop with kill potential, I would even say it's better than the antonidas haha.
yeah, i'd def be running antonidas if i had him, however Gazlowe seems to be filling the spot well, especially with sorcerers apprentice for 2 cost spells. In addition, the 2 CW's help with more 1 cost, benefitting both flamewalker for easy clears and gazlowe for summoning more mechs. I've had great success with the two together.
If you have a 95% win rate with this then you are either the luckiest player ever, or you are starting from rank 25. Love the theme and love mage tho, tempo mage for the win! And cheers to all my fellow mage players!
P.S. a more sober guide would be more widely appreciated.
climbed 8 ranks in 2 hours cheers
Inconsistent. I just got kicked down the ladder. HARD!
Good to hear friend, keep up the good work. Just don't give yourself cancer !
Thanks bro. Just steam rolled the number 2 of Europe being myself at rank 1, 5 stars and got directly rank 330 legend.
Went from rank 3, 1 star to legend in one evening with 16-6 (73 % winrate). I'll repost the deck with my stats, screenshots and shit tomorrow in my decks list.
Cheers!
