Introduction

Hello everyone, I am Sounder and today I want to present to you my Blingtron Rogue, a deck that focusses on weapon synergies.

As I recently drew Blingtron 3000, I was looking for a deck that uses him but I couldn't find any deck that really works properly in the current meta. Consequently, I started experimenting to create my own deck.

Blingtron's battlecry, unfortunately, is not necessarily favouring you as you might give your opponent a Doomhammer while you only get a Light's Justice. However, I thought he could still be viable in a deck of one of the classes that use weapons and have cards that synergise with weapons. Because of cards like Deadly Poison or Tinker's Sharpsword Oil, Rogue seemed to be the best option.

Blingtron 3000

Deck Breakdown

The deck seeks to control the board most of the time by using and buffing your hero power as a Rogue with the available tools. Its strengths are comparable to those of an Oil Rogue.

Weapon Synergy

These cards make up the core idea of the deck and support your hero power. And yes, it is possible to build a weapon synergy deck without a single weapon, if you're using Rogue! ;-)

  • Deadly Poison is your simplest tool to buff up your hero power or the weapon you might get from Blingtron 3000. In the early game, the small buff can help you to create a 3/2 weapon, giving you removal. It not only buffs up your weapon, it also supports the strength of Blade Flurry and due to its low cost, it can be used to initiate combos.
  • Goblin Auto-Barber is a nice 2-drop giving your weapon +1 attack and creating some early pressure on the board. Its effect is useful throughout the game and another way to buff up your weapon.
  • Blade Flurry is your major board clear that synergises with the strength of your current weapon. As you can determine the strength of your weapon, you can make it as powerful as you need it to be in certain situations. It also applies damage to your opponents face, making it a potential finisher, if you are able to apply the damage of a highly buffed hero power twice, first by attacking, then by using Blade Flurry.
  • Tinker's Sharpsword Oil is your strongest buffing tool and also the card that gives the deck the strengths of Oil Rogues. It gives your weapon +3 attack and, if the combo is used, +3 attack to one of your minions on the board. This adds a total of 6 damage to board and can help make your weapon very big to combo it with Blade Flurry to finish off an opponent.
  • Harrison Jones has a decent battlecry by itself destroying an opponents weapon and providing you with card draw. But the reason why he is a must-include in this deck is its combo with Blingtron 3000. Harrison is not included in many decks in the current meta, due to the dominance of non-weapon classes like mage. Also, he doesn't provide much value most of the time because most weapons in common use only have two charges, e.g. Death's Bite or Truesilver Champion. Blingtron's battlecry however, gives your opponent a random weapon, no matter if it is a weapon class or not. Harrison is the perfect complement, as you make use of the negative aspect of Blingtron's battlecry. Imagine how good it would feel giving your opponent a Doomhammer on turn 10 and then dropping Harrison to completely refill your hand? ;-)
  • Blingtron 3000 is, as mentioned earlier, the superstar of this deck and also the reason I created it. He is your only source of a different weapon other than your hero power. Although his battlecry can have a negative effect on you, he will most of the time provide good value because you have all the synergising cards to support him and to negotiate negative outcomes when summoning him. He adds RNG to the deck which makes the deck more fun to play.

Other Removal Options

As you can't only attack with your face, the deck also needs other tools to remove minions from the board.

  • Backstab is a free damage spell, good to initiate combos and to provide removal in the early game. Remember to pay attention to its drawback, that it can only deal damage to undamaged minions.
  • Sap acts as an allrounder removal tool. It can be used to remove highly buffed minions, which resets their stats completely, making it a more advanced silence. It can also be used to remove big threats from the board which you don't have a direct answer for. Another good use for Sap would be to remove big taunts, so that you can apply lethal damage to the opponent by attacking his face with a highly buffed weapon and finish him off with Blade Flurry
  • Sabotage is included to add executing power to the deck. As you don't always want to attack a big minion with your face you might need to remove it in a different way. Sabotage achieves this and also is another tool to destroy the weapon you give your opponent when playing Blingtron.
  • Big Game Hunter, these days, is an auto-include in every control deck, due to his unique executing effect. Dr. Balanced Hunter is another single target removing option against big minions in the late game.

Board Control

Establishing board control is vital due to the many tools in this deck to achieve this.

  • Zombie Chow, being one of the best 1-drops in the game, is a pain for every aggro deck, as it can easily remove 1-3 early threats and slows down tempo decks this way. Remember to always use it to remove as much minions as you possibly can, attacking the opponents face is only worth if he has no minions on the board. This is because of its deathrattle, which returns 5 health to the opponent. Unfortunately, Zombie Chow is a dead card on your hand in later stages of the game, as your opponent will use it to heal himself up.
  • SI:7 Agent is a nice combo card with a 2 damage removal. You can imagine it as a cheaper Fire Elemental helping you in the early game. Its combo can easily be activated by using The Coin in turn 2 or by combining it with Backstab for a 4 damage removal.
  • Piloted Shredder is one of the best 4-drops in the game at the moment. It is sticky and has good chances of summoning a decent body after it dies.
  • Dark Iron Skulker is your go-to tool against aggro. By adding this card to the game, Rogue finally gained better potential to deal with any aggro deck. Using it will end up in a board clear most of the time, if the enemy minions are undamaged. Next to Sludge Belcher this is another tool to deal with aggro in turn 5, being more efficient against decks containing silence.
  • Sludge Belcher is one of my favorite cards in the game. Not only due to his deathrattle, which provides maximum stickyness and forces the opponent to deal with, no, it also helps slowing down any aggro deck, even if they contain silence. It can be dropped if the board is empty or with full board to protect your minions.
  • Dr. Boom or Dr. Board Control himself is an obvious include in this deck due to his strong board presence. He is just too good in any midrange - lategame deck to be left out. The 7/7 body forces your opponent to answer and even if he does, the Boom Bots are still of very high value. Dr. Boom is best used to retain board control or just in any given situation if there is no better use of other cards.
  • Ragnaros the Firelord is a big lategame threat in your arsenal with potential to finish the game. He can help remove big minions, but a bit of luck is involved as his damage is distributed randomly.

Supportive Tech Cards

These cards provide you with card draw, healing and silence.

  • Ironbeak Owl is included as having access to at least one silence is important in the current meta, and Sap not always does the whole job. Also, Ironbeak Owl silences per battlecry, enabling you to use it on minions that can't be targeted by spells.
  • Antique Healbot provides healing as you are using your face a lot to remove minions due to the weapon synergys.
  • Sprint is included to refill your hand in the lategame.
  • Alexstrasza fulfills two uses in this deck. The first use is it being another tool, to heal yourself up to 15 health, when you are on low health due to heavy attacking with your face. This is more useful in this deck than in every Warrior Control deck, as Rogues do not have access to armour. The second use is to set your opponents health to 15 in preparation for a possible Blade Flurry finish. Use her carefully as her effect can be game changing!

Mulligan

Try to mulligan for your early game cards in order to survive the early aggression or create some board pressure.

As requested, I recorded my win rates in 40 games of playing this deck. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a deck tracker running on mac, so I recorded them myself.

Closing

This deck might involve too many risks to use it for grinding to legend with, but it is still a very consistent and fun deck to play. My biggest win streak with it is 7 wins so far! =)

Thats it for my guide of Blingtron Rogue. I hope you have fun trying the deck out! =)
