Murlocs have never been consistant, but I've found the Paladin has enough tools to help keep the key ones alive to overwhelm the enemy. Sometimes you win with huge freaking Murlocs, and sometimes the enemy picks them off one by one and you can't come back. This is the nature of the Murloc.
