Hearthpwn

2 Flamestrike will weaken the early game, plus at starter levels the Heavy minion decks are not that common... maybe just 1 and add an Elven Archer for early game?

I trust Trump but MAN does this deck feel slow.  I barely even can get anything on the board before the fourth turn, at which point I'm way, way behind and never seem to recover.

Taunt does not equal game wins, if you're keeping the board clear (which Mage is surprisingly good at, who would've thought...) there is little need for excessive taunt minions. Ogre wins over SW Champ in this deck, for its higher stats (6/7 ogre compared to 6/6 champion), and lower mana cost. The 'best' minions are not always the best in every deck. 

The man who made this deck is named 'Trump'. Just a normal hearthstone player, one who was at the blizzcon invitational. Someone who doesn't know what their doing.

This isn't a "build and you win" deck. If you read the title instead of blindly making an elitist remark, it is Trump's idea of a basic starter deck, which is a hell of a lot better than the game's basic deck.
