ErA's Midrange Hunter
The Matchup Table
Notes
In the past few weeks Midrange Hunter was on the cusp of being #1 again but struggled a bit as it was forced to run cards like Abusive Sergeant.
Now that Quick Shot is avalible Midrange Hunter has entered its prime. Era seems to be the first to craft a solid Midrange list with Quick Shot as he has managed to hold #1 NA all week with this list and many others have had success with it as well.
The Kezan was added to deal with Freeze Mage which was popular at the start of the week and is good against vs Face Hunter which has historically kept Midrange Hunter down.
Lastly, Explosive Trap is back in Midrange Hunter for the first time in a while as a nod to the heavy Zoo presence in the meta.
#1 deck - Ladder Snapshot #13 (4/25/15 ; tempostorm)
Great deck! Im having trouble against face hunter, though. I lose, despite having board control for most of the game. I think putting in a healbot will help the matchup. What should I take out?
Is running one Explosive, Snake, & Freeze not a good idea?
also, I find myself consistently strapped for draw. I have a strong early game, but come late-game Houndmaster's a dead card and I have nothing to do but hero power.
You're probably overextending in the early game.
Replacement for Quick Shot? I don't have BRM...
And also GET IN HERE.
I'm loving this deck and moving up the ladder with it. The decks I seem to have trouble against are running a lot of taunts. I can typically manage to Ironbeak Owl, Hunter's Mark, or just burn them down to 1 left. Then they build from there and I can't quite recover in mid-late game. Also, in late game, the inability to remove single large minions has been a game changer, often losing only 1-3 damage short of lethal. In many of those scenarios I've had mana crystals to burn. I'd like to try running a single Deadly Shot, but am having a hard time figuring out what to replace in the deck, without sacrificing another form of removal - everything else is so good!
tl;dr Want to run 1 copy Deadly Shot - what card should be replaced?
Quickshot and hunter's mark are better, but I'd take one of them out if you need deadly shot.
Dr. Boom is really hard to replace but i think that kel'thuzad would be a pretty good replacement, if that doesnt work then save up dust for dr. boom. he really is needed in this deck.
My 2 cents - if not Boom, I think you could find a place for KT in this deck if you drop him right after running a bunch of hounds into your opponent's large drops near endgame. A pretty situational tech, but I could see it working well in certain match ups.
Either you get early advantage or you lack closing power
Amazing deck, I climbed 5 ranks so far with this deck, this is like SenX hunter all over again. 10/10 can also counter mech mages.
Rather than ask "what is a good replacement for card?" I would like to know the reverse;
What cards can I cut for a Gladiator's Longbow, and a Stampeding Kodo?
Longbow is not good dude, and kodo is just a situational removal. There are much better cards here :)
Longbow is way too slow in an aggressive meta like the current one. Kodo is expensive (mana cost) and is a bit unpredictable.
I wasn't sure about quickshot (I have never drawn with it once) when I saw this list and I'm still skeptical, but for what its worth I started trying this deck on ladder at rank 18 and shot straight to 8 with minimal losses.
I have been fighting mostly Zoo, Mage (tempo), priest, hunter and mech shamans. Ran into 2 oil rogues (and kept loatheb each time which won the game) and I couldn't beat handlocks but they aren't common.
Mage has been very easy with Kezan, games against Zoo and priest are nail biters. Shaman openers can be tricky too.
I am always surprised when opponents get openings like double deathlord, velens annoyotron and the deck pulls through. Just pray you get highmane off the deathlord!
Um... Drawing isn't the point, and if you are desperate the option is there.
It's just good because it has way more value than arcane shot, which is a piece of crap. The 3 for 2 spell is something I've wanted in hunter for a long time.
Hunter is great because of it now -- you can play the control game so much more easily with that sort of removal.
Hi everyone if anyone played with this deck i want to ask something, does it work on lower ranks?
I started playing this at rank 18 last night and I'm sitting rank 8 3 stars after barely losing to a druid. Winstreak most of the way there.
I'm not really sure about quick shot but I haven't missed the bodies apparently if I am having good results
Omg amazing :) all i need is Dr boom :(
Heya! I´ve been quite fond of Nefarian. Any place for him in this deck? ^^
