Hello guys!
I just hit rank 1 legend with this list created by my friend Tryndamere. The list is perfect in my opinion so I figured I'd share it.
General strategy:
First of all, zoo is a control deck, not a rush deck! You win by gaining early board control and making efficient trades every turn! Cards like abusive servant and power overwelming help you do that. Always play around the AEO removal from the class you are facing, like consecrate / Swipe etc. Of course this is elementary knowledge, but it is the most important thing to do.
Matchups:
Easy matchups: Mage (mech), shaman, priest, paladin, druid,
Mage: Against (mech)mage look for a good curve and just keep trading with all the mechs and you will win easy.
Shaman: Same as above, just play out your curve and trade. Play around Lightning Storm when you can. Popping narubian egg before it gets earth shocked is a good play too.
Priest: Same as above, should be an easy game. Trade efficiently and play around Holy Nova and Circle of Healing combo.
Paladin: Always play around consecrate obviously, narubian egg is a very good counter against consecrate.
Druid: Don't play against druid with turn 2 Wild Growth. Power overwelming is the best card to keep against druid.
Hard matchups: Warrior (Grim Patron), Warlock (Handlock), hunter (Face), Rogue,
Warrior (Grim Patron): Very difficult matchup when they have early board clears, Just keep clearing and suicide off your own small minions so he can't get value from charging Grim Patrons. Winning board control is always key to winning the match with zoo.
Warlock (Handlock): This is one of the hardest matchups, just try to get him down to 15health by turn 5 just above molten giants range and hope you draw into power overwelming/Doomguard as the finisher.
Hunter (Face): Always keep Defender of Argus in the opening hand, it is key to winning the game. When you managed to argus something like Imp Gang Boss [/card]+ [card]narubian egg, consider racing the hunter and going face.
Rogue: Don't pop your narubian eggs too soon, it is a good ensurance against Blade Flurry. This is a really hard match, but if you manage to play Loatheb while having a board, you win. Power overwelming is great for trading against rogue minions like Violet Teacher and Azure Drake.
Key notes:
* Power Overwelming is good against most classes
* Imp Gang Boss is always a good turn 3.
* Voidcaller is a card I always like to keep in my opening hand! Sometimes when I'm greedy I keep it together with Doomguard or malganys.
* Big Game Hunter Saved my ass so many times. It is the reason I managed to get Rank 1.
* Loatheb Closes out games when you are ahead.

i don't have Sylvanas or Mal'Ganis. is Loatheb and Bane of Doom a good substitute?
Sub for Mal'ganis?
I think it is good to play Sea Giant.
i have a question, i don't have Sylvanas and Boom, which cards can i trade?
thanks for share this with us !
Dr. Boom is the best neutral legendary and definitely the best 7 drop legendary. If you don't have him already most would advise you to save up to craft him, unless you're missing some good rares/commons. If you're missing Dr. Boom, I'd actually say to look for a different deck, as he is a very powerful presence. As for Sylvanas, Loatheb is probably the go to replacement, as her effect is unique.
I'm confused about the exclusion of Loatheb from the deck. Usually, Loatheb has great synergy with Zoo because it allows your low health minion board to survive a turn longer in order to push for lethal. I'm aware of Sylvannas's awesome synergy with Power Overwhelming, but Sylvannas just seems a tad slow, especially in this aggro-filled meta. My only other change to the list was adding sea giant instead of BGH. With all these hunters and mages in the meta atm (new hero portraits) BGH was a dead card more often than not. Sea Giant has great synergy and can help get lethal faster than rush decks. That's just my two cents about some changes I made.
Hello I don't have Mal'Ganis can I replace him for Dr.Boom ?
Tryndamere is the President of Riot.
Hi. I've been playing this deck with some degree of success. But I find extremely difficult the paladin matchup (which is listed in easy) ¿Am I doing something wrong or is it because of the cards I lack? I don't have Mal'Ganis nor Big Game Hunter. I threw in a Floating Watcher and a Dire Wolf Alpha ¿Suggestions? Thank you.
Yeah I have the most trouble with paladins. Those early divine shields fuck me.
Second Void Terror is quite bad I think, maybe a second wolf is the easiest way?
Fun idea, but I'm finding this deck is unequipped to deal with the Aggro decks that are common in the mid-ranks. What would you guys recommend as far as giving it some stronger AoE?
Any AoE that warlock has is gonna be detrimental to your board too, except maybe Demonwrath if you only have demons on the board (plus nerubian egg benefits). I've found the key to dealing with aggro decks is to try to get Knife Juggler + Implosion, since most aggro decks have low health minions that will get wrecked by your knives. Defender of Argus is also is a huge help, and especially if you use it on Nerubian Eggs or Imp Gang Bosses that can help to strengthen your board more. And if you can Voidcaller out Mal'Ganis, aggro decks usually have a hard time dealing with that (or at least it slows them down quite a bit).
But yeah, Knife Juggler is really your best friend in aggro matchups that aren't Grim Patron
I feel like a lot of these plays are pretty situational, though, and when you face any kind of AOE your enemy can gain board control pretty effortlessly.
I'm planning on teching in Shadowflame when I get home and messing around with that.
Forgot about Shadowflame. That can work really well with Voidcaller
How do you feel about using Argent Squires instead of Voidwalkers? They don't have taunt, but they're better against AoE removal like Hellfire, Auchenai + circle, Blade flurry, etc. and can trade into face hunter minions like Wolf Rider. Even though they would be worse against Grim Patron, it feels worth it to have stickier minions
Turn 2 wild growth means that you are about to get buttfucked
I'm new to hearthstone and am wondering what "play around the aoe removal." Means exactly. Like how do you go about playing around it?
My understanding is: Do not give your opponent the chance to clear your board with his AOE.
For example:
1. If you already have a few low-health minions on the board, don't play more or them. Or, play a Nerubian Egg so that even if you get AOE'd you'll still have that 4/4.
2. Buff your low-health minions with Defender of Argus to raise their health above the opponent's AOE damage.
That makes sense and helps a ton thank you!!
