Update:
Many of you asked for an update so altough I didnt have that much time to play in the last months I tried to reach Top100 again and managed to do it a few days ago with these changes:
- 1x Quick Shot
- 2x Piloted Shredder
+ Ragnaros
+ 2x Loot Hoarder
I tried many cards but had by far the most success with these changes.
- 1x Quickshot: 2x QS were too many. I often had both at the end left on hand and one was always useless because I couldnt draw a card from it. I also hate putting two of the same card in a deck because they limit the possible choice.
+ Ragnaros: I often put him in when it was possible to play another late game card without dying to aggro. It's a fast and responsive card witch can win a game by its own and fits in really good right now.
- 2x Shredder/Senjin & + 2x Loot Hoarder: Shredders/Senjins were the main reason why the deck got weaker in the last seasons. These cards are good for a midrange playstyle but have no benefits to a control deck. With two additional Loot Hoarders you have more than enough possible plays before turn five to survive and gain card advantage.
I played this Deck a long time with 2x Novice Engineer and 2x Flare before both got nerfed and I really missed the draw power/deck thinning they provided. Loot Hoarder helps to fill this gap and also is useful to survive the early game and to get important cards faster.
There are also now tutorials and explanations about this deck available:

Thanks everyone for the great support!

Hey Everyone,
Maybe you remember my older versions of this deck. Since closed Beta (even before that, in Cockatrice) I mainly played control hunter and reached legend quite often with it.
With the new Blackrock additions (Quick Shot/Emperor) it hits harder than ever before and after hitting Legend Top50 I got a lot of requests for the Decklist, so here it is.
As you can see I don't play any Beasts. Well except for King Krush!
The main problem of a controlly approach at Hunter is the card draw. Thats why you need high value cards and (my favorite card in the game) Acolyte of Pain. Hunter works really good with acolyte because of the Pyromancer/Hunter Mark combo. This synergy is the core of this deck and you have to use it wisely.
You play this deck passively. In general you mulligan for Tracking/Acolyte/Bow/Sniper and control the board.
Use the hero ability as often as you can, your main damage consists of bow hits + Steady Shot + King Krush to end the game.
If I'm facing more Control Decks I play Deadly Shot, 2x Shredder and if I'm facing a lot of aggro I switch to Earthern Ring Farseer and 2x Sen Jin instead.
Explosive Shot is really strong in this meta right now, cause it kills 2-3 minions most of the time. (Belcher / Loatheb / Emperor + 1-2 small minions for example) Sometimes I even play it 2x.
Krush also works really good now because of emperor. You can deal 13 damage in turn 10 (Bow / Krush / Hero Ability) from hand if you played emperor before and reduced krush to 8 mana. I prefer him to leeroy because you don't necessarily have to use him to end the game.
I don't want to go into too much detail and explain every card for now. Every card has a reason, just ask if you want to know why or how I use certain cards.
Because the deck is pretty diverse it does good in every matchup. I think control warrior is the hardest to play.
I guess most people only played Face or Midrange Hunter and it could be hard to adapt to this passive playstyle. You are always defending/clearing the board and don't push for minion/face dmg.
If there is great demand, I will play this deck on stream. ( http://www.twitch.tv/teamoverrated_kharan )
Enjoy this deck!
swapped out a steamweedle for a Mad Scientist and KK for da homie LEEROY, no losses yet. :3
I dont have king crush. what is a good replacement? I have the hydra can i try him? seems to have nice synergy with wild pryo or steam wheedle on field
Probably Rag
No Beasts, No Cancer, yet has King Krush and a hunter deck can never truly be non cancer
Bestial Wrath seems weird in this deck since King Krush is the only beast. Since it has limited uses it probably wouldn't work consistently.
Bestial Wrath used in the way you are suggesting is strictly worse than Arcane Shot, for various reasons I shouldn't have to explain.
Really enjoy the deck, thanks. I've been messing around with Admirable's control hunter deck (season 9) and it's fun but pretty inconsistent with the Feign Death's and such. Obviously, you've spent more time playing and refining this one, respect.
Also, thanks for all the follow-up in the comments section, some good tips. I think Tracking is really cool in a control deck... seems you have to know your match-ups well and pick the right card even if it means throwing away a card that's normally more powerful.
Ok so firstly, I really like your deck. I have been messing around with a more control based hunter deck for a long time and was pleasantly surprised to see that yours looks quite different. I also found that accurate and timely placement of traps is essential for making a deck like this work. As a result cutting the scientists didn't shock me, I also don't run scientists in my own build. What I wasn't expecting was your usage of double Tracking! I just had to try it out for myself after reading this post. Wow, the results were fantastic.
Quick questions: Your opinion on snipe in this kind of deck? Have you tried Drakes instead of Belchers and playing with double Senjin instead? Do you ever feel like it would be nice to have some sort of silence for extra versatility? Have you ever included Harrison or even TBK in this build due to the demands of the meta, if so how did it go?
Keep up the great work man, big props to you!!
This dude said it all, for the most part. I wish AncientSilence would post his version on the site, so I could check it out, because I'm also working in the control hunter department and looking for the tweaks you can make in the deck.
To the deck itself - I disagree that Explosive Shot is particularily good in the meta right now. You really have to dig deep to find good explosive shots most of the time, You do run alot of splash in that deck though, so that's a thing that can certainly work. The most fascinating card for me on the list is Baron Geddon and from the looks of the deck it fits quite well.
Have you tinkered with the idea of playing Bloodmage Thalnos and/or as AncientSilence mentioned Azure Drake for the card draw and synergy with explosive/quick shot?
Anyway, wacky stuff like this really cheers me up.
I don't have King Krush but i have Gahz'rilla, i think i will take him instead and 2 Arcane Shot instead of Tracking, when he survives one round this deck can easily turn him into a Hero-One-Shot.
I know he could use Thundra Rhino but no good player will let it live for a round cause Midrange often liked to play Highmane next turn even giving the Hyenas Charge so Ghaz'rilla will always be risky but i like that beast too much.
Really awesome decklist! Good job!
I can't try it out but it looks so cool to see a Hunter running 4 traps w/out Scientist. Also, no Lion Kings and Skill Commands!
I'm really just amazed by how you don't find these cards core to Hunter decks. I guess practice does make perfect. Cheers!
Why not play Rag instead of Krush? Turn 6 Thaurissan into turn 7 Rag is also awesome.
Better raw than burnt baby (on a serious note: there can only be one nerubian omelette chef)
I dont have Baron Geddon, I was gonna replace King Krush with Rag, Was wondering what you recommend for the Geddon.
Hey Kharan !
Very Nice deck, but i don't have both Steamwheedle and Krush. I read about replacing Wheedle with Unstable Ghoul, but what is better for subbing Krush ? Ragnaros ? Dr Boom ?
*dude asks Kharan if he should craft Geddon or Krush first*
i don't have Wild Pyromancer in my collection, so I'm playing a more mid- oriented hunter with less secret (but always with King and Empereor).
i want to give a try to your control oriented deck but is it possible without the pyros or they're too important?
Someone donate this guy 200 dust, so he can craft Wild Pyromancer lmao.
The deck is very enjoyable, but I can't figure out how to use Geddon properly. Please give a tip.
I remember watching you during the beta (still followed on twitch). I would be happy to see you stream again. I always thought your decks were creative and I would enjoy watching with some commentary.
