Took me a long time to get legend this season finaly made it with this pally deck with a pretty good win streak. Was trying to make a good pala and ended with this list. Figured double 4-drop was extremely consistent. Figured i needed some card draw as the way i would lose was with 2 cards in my hand due to poor overall card quality in the mid-late game. Azure drake helpes solve the card card and since i was running double four drop i could afford to play a 4/4 on 5.
Emperor is completely trash in paladin and is either a win more card or gives you a turn 7 tirion which there is not much use in. People that play him are effectively playing a card that loses them tempo and ends up being a win more card meaning they play with 1 dead card in there deck. Playing with one dead card will not always effect your win rate if your lucky but it will for sure not make it any better.
Loatheb is no good vs zoo and is a 5 drop, seeing as there are way to many 5 drops you dont want to play more. Loatheb dosent help against the decks that paladin struggles with but helps vs decks paladin already has a good win rate against.
Cards like coghammer can be used if you feel the need for it but loatheb and emperor dosent fit. You can also play tech cards like harrison if your getting a lot of weapon classes. If u run coghammer u 100% will not want to cut blessing. blessing has a lot of synergy with cog hammer so i see why people want to play it and it might be very good.
Edit: Played for the entire day staying top 30- top 5. Highest i got was #3. Played the exact same list as on screen. I dropped to 400+ now and will be testing the new paladin card instead.
0-3. Shitty deck
Thanks for the deck. I used it to climb from rank 8 to rank 3 and I'm trying to reach legend for now.
One question: if I want to put a Kezan in the deck, should I take out the sen'jin or one azure drake? Or something else?
One of this deck's weaknesses is that it lacks draw, so I would not remove the Drake.
I rock this same deck -1 Sen'jin Shieldmaster, -2 Piloted Shredder, +1 Kezan Mystic, and +2 Hungry Dragon. The Mystic is for slowing down Mage/Paladin/Hunter tempo (it can change the whole board dynamic), and the Dragon on curve is a tough minion despite the debuff (your opponent has to deal with it or take considerable damage to board presence/face).
How does hungry dragon work so far compared to shredder?
Ill make a updated deck as soon as i hit a high rank this season. I currently dont enjoy the meta and havent played to legend yet. I will update this list to what i think is a good pala build atm. you basicaly want to skip almost all dragons and only play 2x solem 1x volcanic drake , 1x consort and 1x guardian of kings. This is what i played for an hour today and went 10-0 , but i havent played it enough to know if there is a better build. I can tell you tha. All the dragon deck on hearthpwn like sparkz dragon deck is completely shit, so dont play those just because they say dragon paly.
Found this post...put your deck together... I am now 10-0.... Haven't played in a while and having a blast playing this game again....this deck works people!!!
Tried dragons for no other reason then wanting to play dragon paladin. The dragon deck i made was okay but not as good this 1 and the highest i got was 20. i am sure this build is still be best even tho i havent been playin "real" decks for a few days. Have been trying to make dragon decks, murloc shaman and miracle rouge instead. I will try to make a better list when all the brm cards are out but for now this is the best list i found.
Hey Xzirez, how would you approach the match-up against the now popular Grim Patron Warrior? I usually clear their full board with an Equality into Consecration combo but then they still have another Grim Patron and me no Equality ;-; If I do manage to clear their board, they will probably have a fed Frothing Berserker which will KO me. Not to say that the match up is bad but it seems to be decided so much by RNG and wheter or not they run Commanding Shout. What changes would you make to tip it in your favour? I don't to what to revome for a second equality since the deck looks so perfect as it is :c Also, since you're experimenting with new Dragon decks, any thoughts about the new card Hungry Dragon?
He way u win is not by healing and getting to late game its by play minions early game and reducing dmg. U need to pressure the hunter not stall as they have a TON of burst, making long games easy to win.
There is a very thoughtful discussion of Blessings of Kings and Cult Master just a few comments down.
Great deck first few games. I took out 1 aldor out for Bolvar. If you can get him early and carry him until before or after Dr. Boom (bait), its almost a sure win. Thus far anywho. Im only rank 14 though ~_~
So, I loaded this deck today, and it's been going great. Thanks so much Xzirez.
EDIT: I thought I played trump, but in fact it was fake, so I have withdrawn my original post and replaced it with thank you.
Trump already reached legend, it's a fake.
Got to Legend for the first time this season with a very similar deck. I run 2x Zombie Chow, and I'm scared to cut the second because of their ability to keep Face Hunter and Mech Mage starts under control. I'm also worried that running only 1x would increase the chances of me finding the only copy during the late game. What are your thoughts on 1x vs. 2x Zombie Chow?
What do you drop for the second chow? A juggler?
Most people fell like when they drop chow on turn 1 they are more likely to win vs midrange/aggro. In my experience the only decks were chow on turn 1 helps is vs mech mage and hunter. In the mirror playing chow turn 1 ends up losing me the game a lot of times because there is little card draw in the deck. Chow only trades 1 for 1 or 2 for 1 against extremely aggressive decks, in control matchups he is useless and often trades negatively. If you run two chows u will have a higher chance of drawing him turn 1 but your late/midgame will suffer a lot. If u end up with 3 cards in your hand in the late game you would rather want to draw a mid game minion then chow. I think running two is fine when all you met is aggro.
Juggler can be used with muster, muster can be used with quarter and minibot is just insane. Minibot and muster are both class cards making them better then neutrals like chow in mana cost. Both muster and minibot is 0.5 mana above the usual 2 and 3 drops. Chow is only useful turn 1 while the others are always useful. If i wanted to cut some early game i would rather cut chow then a juggler for this exact reason. Juggler gives paladin more ways to deal with 1 health minions.
Good stuff, thanks for the response. +1 on the deck.
Xzirez your posts are all well thought out and thus I hope you will answer a related question: I am having trouble with getting early really good minions cleared (like knife juggler can't live past a wrath, a war axe, or a frostbolt with mana wyrm already on board, for example). This seems to handicap my early game against a lot of mid range decks and I end up running out of steam. This is obviously not as big of a problem with mini-bot because he is so sticky.
So it's kind of hard to articulate a focused question but here goes: When you mulligan and draw a knife juggler, what classes do you coin it out on turn 1 to try to gain board control? What classes are you content to sit back and hero power for a turn or two? Perhaps that is too complex an answer to really give in a short space.
I would love to watch you playing this deck because I think I am making a ton of mistakes. I see you have a twitch account but see there's only one or two videos saved on it. I'll follow you to see if you stream this deck. Thanks again.
You coin the turn you have two minions to play The only times u coin turn1 is vs a deck that plays a 3 health minion turn 2 that can snowball like mech warper, cleric etc. I used to stream a while back but stopped after losing a ton of viewers because i didnt stream everyday.i tired to start again but my monitor is broken so i have to do it on mye laptop which dosent work well.
Thank you for the answer and I hope you get to stream again.
