Update:
Since Arcane Giant is out and the Wild Pyromancer + Commanding Shout Combo has proven to be good in OTK Worgen Warrior a combo Grim Patron Deck is playable again.
Playing Arcane Giant instead of Worgen as a finisher allows you to have extra deck slots for stuff like Whirlwind and Grim Patron-
Just felt like sharing this one again. It is probably the closest a deck has been to the old Warsong Commander Grim Patron Warrior.
The deck has seen high legend play by multiple players.
This is my version of the Grim Patron Warrior.
I tried to built the deck all around card draw. The more cards you draw the more likely you will have the right cards to combo in your hand at the same time.
I did reach legend Rank 1 with it on April 18th. (just for a short time but still)
Also I did reach legend Rank 1 with it on May3th. (after changing one card)
If you want to see the deck in action, follow me on twitch ( http://www.twitch.tv/senfglas_ )
Legend Rank 1 April 18th:
Legend Rank 1 May 3rd:
Mulligan
vs Aggro:
Fiery War Axe , Unstable Ghoul, Whirlwind, Frothing Berserker (Dread Corsair if you have a weapon already and Death's Bite if you have a Dread Corsair already)
vs Control:
Fiery War Axe , Death's Bite, Gnomish Inventor, Slam(Emperor Thaurissan against really slow control decks only, Dread Corsair if you have a weapon already)
How to play:
vs Aggro:
Just try to fight for board control as much as you can in general. Anything else should be fine then. Against Face Hunter: try to race them with your weapons and Frothing Berserker
vs Control:
Try to draw as many cards as you can while not loosing the board too much (the more you draw the more likely you will be able to play your little combos). Play a couple of Grim Patron if you know your opponent should not be able to clear them or just save them for the combo with Warsong Commander ( + Commanding Shout eventually). Also always keep in mind that you might be able to almost oneshot your opponent with a big Frothing Berserker especially after you got some value from Emperor Thaurissan.
Questions and answers:
Why do you not play...
...Grommash:
It could be good but i never saw a reason to put him in. I think I do not need him as a finisher. And playing him just as a big guy makes my opponent get more value out of his single target remove cards (which he usually does not get against this deck).
...Axe Flinger:
I do not need face damage on like turn 4 or in midgame in general. I prefer playing Gnomish there for an extra card draw. It also is not the best finisher in this deck in late game.
...Inner Rage:
My Mana curve is pretty low already. Still it could work well with Acolyte, Grim Patron, Battle Rage.
...Bouncing Blade:
Why would I? The card is just too inconsistent in my opinion. Also I do not want to fill up my entire board with Grim Patrons. Because in case of AoE damage I need space for new Patrons to spawn.
In general I think it is always much easier to say what card could be good in a deck than saying what card would I remove for that. And all the cards I am playing right now are working just fine.

I suggest not playing this deck in the middle ranks where facehunter is prevalent. I played this deck all day yesterday and found facehunter to be the most difficult matchup. Today I played facehunter to complete a quest and ran up against 3 grim patron decks in a row, I wrecked 2/3 before turn 7, only one player was able to get his combo off, but he didn't have enough damage to kill me that turn, and I lethaled him my next turn.
this deck just doesn't have enough removal to clear facehunter boards without giving up important combo cards.
Great deck! So many fun combos, and really a smart deck that requires you to think 2 to 3 turns ahead to crush your opponent! And such a low cost! Not for everybody, but those it is for will have a great time playing it! Thanks for posting it!
Just played a couple of decks to test this out, both were crushing wins, and more importantly, both were hilariously fun. I think that here we have - finally !! - a Warrior deck that can be enjoyed by players who don't own a tall stack of bomb legendaries.
Both games went quite similar fashion - got some card draw early, had some combo pieces, drew Emperor Thaurissan to play on turn 6, and on turn 7 was able to unleash combo with Warsong Commander and Grim Patron. Neither opponent came back from that.
ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS. First game after giving up on this deck, switched back to custom mech mage deck. Played a guy trying to imitate this deck... I beat him -5 to 30 on turn 7. This deck really isn't good. You have to wait till turn 8 to do anything of consequence other than putting out fragile frothings and hoping they survive.
I just made legend for the first time with this deck so no this deck is good and you dont just wait for the turn 8 !
Excellent deck first off. Second off, I would like to kindly disagree about not putting grom into the deck. I replaced the gnomish with grom, and I must say, he has scared my opponent into a CC before. I got a rouge down to 1 hp while i had more than 15 and she/he CC'd. It is nice to have that extra 1/3 of their health burst in your pocket in case you need it. I do see your point in not including him, but I want some decisive late game if it must go that late.
He also trades well if you aren't in a position to combo yet.
I will say a huge downside to this deck is that it depends on draws and late game dmg (opponent must be low to finish).
After a dozen games of testing and going from low 5 rank to low 6, I have to say this is not a good deck in the meta.
A simple silence ruins your entire combo unless you have perfect draws. Hex, trion, even sludge will own this deck.
You have to go face with weapon, and play Frothing Berserker , Dread Corsair and Accolite of pain from the beginning. It's worked for me.
Face hunter was the only thing i found this deck useful against.... Lock (especially demon lock) dueced all over this deck though.
Odd, I managed to beat demonlock with an incomplete version of this deck. Just focus on keeping the board down then in late game combo after a board clear and they don't have much time to recover.
Hey everyone
-2 Dread Corsair
+2 Dragon Egg
You'll thank me later
Mulligan like it says up in the description. Frothing Berserker is key as it forces the hunter to deal with it or take alot of damage. Also if you have weapons charged up don't waste time hitting little creatures just go for face. Finally plan, plan, plan and more planning. This deck is extremely hard to play I'd recommend watching some pro's play it on youtube to get an idea of what they are looking for against face hunter. Best of Luck!
PS I removed one Gnomish Inventor for an armor smith as it is very effective not only against aggro decks but also when you have grim patrons on board any aoe will give you massive armor buff.
Ty! Having a blast playing this one!
Loving the deck, been doing quite well except for hunters, which I have yet to win a game against. Any tips for the matchup?
I never liked warrior, but this deck is solid. Took some time for me to not noob it up (still misplay here and there though), but there aren't many bad match ups for this deck. Maybe handlock? Haven't seen many though.
Oh my glob, this is superb deck. I feel like a hearthstone mastermind playing this))
This deck is amazing. With it I could deal with fast deck so easily. I personnaly add a brawl because when you loose control you don't have a lot of option to clear the board. I will see if that change affect my win rate but from nom it still a very effective deck and so fun to play.
Why do you not include Dr. Boom? Because every deck that isn't OTK or doesn't plan to win by aggro before turn 7 should use Dr. Boom.
Actually, that was me just taking sideswipe at how bloody Dr. Boom is played in EVERY bloody deck at the moment because he's so goddamn blatantly OP. I approve of this deck not using Dr. Boom because I hate the bastard's guts.
Any thoughts on Axe Flinger or Bouncing Blade? I'm thinking about adding those and definitely adding Grommash Hellscream I'm just not sure what I want to remove.
The answers you seek are right in front of you.
