This is the first deck I’ve published here on hearthpwn so bear with me. I wanted to create a deck that had an answer to both control decks, midrange, and the popular aggro decks in the current meta. I’ve edited this deck a ton and this is what I’m currently using. I’ll update it as I continue to change things out but so far this deck has gotten me from rank 20 to rank 11 in roughly 4.5 hours this April season.
This is 100% a control deck as it has answers to early and midgame meta while having a very strong finish. With 2 Antique Healbots, Siphon Soul,Lord Jaraxxus, and Alexstrasza it’s hard for any opponent to get you all the way down.
Between your hero power, Mortal Coil, and Ysera, I’ve never had a problem with card draw.
After this first wing opening in BRM I added in Emperor Thaurissan because he’s amazing. He is often played before any of your other large minions making him a target for silences, Shadow Word: Death, and any removal with the exception of BGH. On top of being a midgame target Thaurissan allows your larger minions to be played at a bare minimum of one turn earlier. If you don’t have any large minions in your hand he can help make other removal combos significantly cheaper.
As I mentioned earlier this is a deck where you usually have at least 4 or 5 cards in your hand. Thaurissan is essentially a 1 mana 5/5 when you have 4 other cards in your hand. The value from him is insane.
As far as removal goes you have turn oneMortal Coil and Zombie Chow.
For turn two you haveDarkbomb, Explosive Sheep (only actionable if you have the coin), and weapon removal Acidic Swamp Ooze
Turn 3: Shadow Bolt which is never anticipated by an opponent.
Turn 4:Hellfire,Shadowflame
Turn 6: Siphon Soul
Turn 8: Twisting Nether - this is one of my favorite removal spells to whip out. The most common scenario I've run into is when I'm up against a midrange or control deck and it's well past turn 8 but they have 2 or more minions out and a very small hand, or no hand at all. Needless to say this card has won me many games I should have lost.
I ran Corruptionfor a long time in this deck but I ended up taking it out because the value just wasn’t there.
Anyways let me know what you think and I’ll keep you updated and try to respond to any questions.
While climbing to rank 11 that quickly is pretty good, the truth is any deck can reach that rank as long as you keep the positive winrate. The question is if you can pilot this to legend.
I'm actually really surprised by this deck. I've managed to climb to rank 6 from 14 using it over this past week. A lot of the cards are off-kilter by normal meta cards, but I can see why they work. Lil' Exorcist works great because most decks are running Shredders, Dr. Boom, Sylvanas Windrunner, and a few other Deathrattles. Face Hunter runs lots of Deathrattles, and this card is a breath of relief. I have yet to actually have a catastrophic result with Deathlord because this deck runs so much removal, I can typically deal with a big legendary when it makes an appearance. I've been able to win against two Control Warriors today after Deathlord pulled out a Ragnaros.
I've played against roughly 10 warriors this past week using this deck, and I'm 100% undefeated against them. Surprisingly, I'm 100% defeated against Hunters, despite this deck being built to completely counter them. I usually have bad draws against them, except for the one game where I had a perfect curve against one, and I disconnected. I'm having a bad time against some Mages if they get enough face damage before I draw into my healing, but that's been about it.
Thanks for this deck. It feels a bit weird to play, but I'm having lots of fun with its success.
What are you talking about? Rag is a great shadowflame target!
Currently 7-1 with this deck (went straight to rank 13) . Didn't expect it being so good when i looked at that decklist. I replaced Lil exorcist with a Piloted Shredder because i never saw Exorcist doing anything.
Very nice and new deck! +1 (it just crushes Facetards!! :) )
I just logged in to thank you for this freaking amazing deck, holy shit, best time of my life palying this shit.
I did the same thing for Abomb
first few games i won against a freeze mage really easy and a mill rogue really easy
since then i have been destroyed by everything .
I can always draw the game out but never get chance to put any threats down has im having to always play to survive
Is this legend viable
Does anyone know why theres Abomination in this deck? I dont get it what it does?
Cool deck, but can I replace Ooze with a Harrison? Or will it be too slow for face hunters?
Fun deck. I can literally feel my opponents going 'wha... what's going on?' as they mouse over the the shades and the aboms :) Thanks for posting this :)
edit: that being said, I went 2-8 with this deck :P Went from r12 to 14. Mostly control decks and a few mech mages. I scored a couple of wins against the mages due to good kezans, but lost everything else. I didn't see a single hunter, so several cards were mostly dead (lil ex, kezan, abom). A lot of the games were really close, and I certainly misplayed a few times, so maybe you'll have better luck! :)
Can i use Majodormo Executus when it comes out? What are good replacements for Jaraxxus and Alextrasza?
Majodormo Executus is really bad because your hero gets set to 8 hp.
You could set your hp back to 15 again though using Alexstrazsa.
I don't think you can though, because I don't think Alexstrasza can give a hero more health then their maximum health. Not that that has ever happened before though, so no real way of knowing until it is released.
You can reset the hp, but it takes 2 turns, and Druid/Rogue/Freeze Mage/Hunter/Shaman OTK/Warlock OTK/Enrage Warrior only takes one turn to kill you.
Love the deck! I am holding on to Ysera though
why only 1x Siphon Soul? it seems like with all the huge minion drops late game you would want both.
I have to agree with LiNiak! This is a REALLY awesome deck and approaching on becoming my favorite to date! My Pally build has a contender for my heart! I love mass removal in mtg and I love it here now too!
Thank you! Your deck does what it promises, I've dispatched 2 ramp druids, 1 mech mage, 1 mid pally, 2 warriors, and lost against a tempo mage, and a ramp druid. Your guide more or less tells you what to mulligan for and what to do.
