Legend Zoo Deck
Hi guys this is the deck I used exclusively to ladder from rank 11 to legend rank 4 its a variation to the deck giantkiller uses with some significant changes.
Although "Zoo" is considered a 4th tier deck right now I find it to be ridiculously strong in the current meta of midrange hunter / druid. Mech mage. The hardest match for this deck is most definitely rogue ofc, paladin is a coin flip.
Changes to the deck:
-1 Mortal Coil
+1 Harvest Golem
-1 Dark Iron Dwarf
+1 Loatheb / +1 Enhance-o-Mechano
-1 Dark Iron bomb / +1 Void Terror
EDIT #1
Shattered Sun Cleric is out so is Coil for 2 Harvest Golems. Win rates gone up with these sticky 3 drops in. Great synergy with taunting up turn 4. Finding druids who boom turn 7 much easier to finish with them in.
I also sometimes play around with a hellfire or a second bomb depending on the amount of rogues I am running into
EDIT#2
Currently playing around with dropping loatheb completely and picking up Enhance-o-Mechano and im absolutely loving the results!!!! Feeling less restricted when it comes to trading, rather than have to avoid triggering your death rattles you can pop them all on a boom and slap this little fella out.
Out of 13 games tested and drawing him in only 5 of those, I won all 5 he was drawn. 3 of those directly because of divine shields/taunts. Will test more and let you know
EDIT#3
Ok after tinkering around all evening ive decided to drop my copy of dark bomb and in replacement add a void terror.
Both are solid choices, dark bomb offers more utility on bigger value trades its awful when your behind as you lose tempo not playing a minion. With that said its fantastic when trading sludge belchers etc.
Void Terror- Basically the amount of times ive been falling behind on board with only a few petty 1/1's left and a very awkward turn coming up having to play a dire wolf into certain death is noticeable. and void terror fills this gap perfectly! As long as your not greedy and don't try and POW / eat 2 minions for no reason other than to see a big void its a fantastic 3 drop. eating just 1 spider its a 3 mana 4/4 which you just cant complain about.
Not necessarily, since it wasn't uncommon in the old Sea Giant Zoo to play it later in the game at close-to-full price, so you wouldn't necessarily have board control.
YMMV, obviously, and I'm not saying that it's a bad card, but BGH is definitely the reason why Zoo stopped playing it as much.
Finally got some testing done with this list, 21-8 at rank 7 (NA) facing mostly Mech Mage, Hunter, and Druid. Face Hunter is indeed a tough matchup but I don't think it's auto-lose. Haunted Creeper, Elven Archer, Argus and Harvest Golem are crucial in this MU. I'm more worried about Oil Rogue but I've only faced it once with this deck, I think it's not being played as much because of Face Hunter.
Currently testing Dr. Boom in place of Void Terror and I'm digging it, the curve is a bit high though so I might drop one of the 4 drops for something lower, not sure yet. Boom probably isn't necessary anyways but the few games I've played with him he's been insane.
Maybe if you were legend in Na I would give this deck a try.
-1 dark iron bomb???? wut???
Why aren't you using Clockwork Gnome instead of Leper Gnome? Spare parts is way better than 2 face dmg. Spare parts is great If you miss 1 attack, or miss 1 hp for your minion to survive, or you can switch attack/hp on a minion to do a better trade etc.
All the spare parts is really good when you're fighting for board control and doing effective trades which is what zoo is all about. Time Rewinder is the only one that is not so good for zoo, but it can work on those with battlecry, or just to heal up your minion.
Well spare parts aren't nearly as reliable as some think, because you don't know exactly what spare part you will receive and it may be completely useless in your situation. Unless someone wastes a silence on your Leper Gnome(which is not necessarily a bad thing), at least you can guarantee what you are getting from this card. Plus Leper Gnome can synergize very well with cards like Power Overwhelming, Void Terror, and even Elven Archer if you're desperate for damage. It fits well in this kind of deck
so ive played mostly warlock zoo since season 2 and ill explain why leper gnome is better than clockwork in this deck. so 3 things you need to remember when playing this form of zoo.
1. you have a small room to win the game, with belcher and heal bot in the format and you not running boom, black knight or anything that goes over the top(cant really count mr.doom because he has a hard time getting past belcher) you want to deal as much damage as fast as possible with still being able to have board control
2. as a zoolock main player if there was a spare part that cost 0 and dealt 2 damage to opponent id want that part 8/10 times
3. its funny how this actually matters but leper gnome is very good against hunter a preist but its so much better than clockwork against preist. the reason preist isnt a autolose is because you have insane card advantage and they do too but cleric is easy to deal with. if your opponent takes you leper than you just dont care there cabal didnt do much or shadow madness but the taught can actually lose you the game and its sad how important that it can be.
the card isnt bad but if you arent mech and you are an aggro deck youd be dumb to run clock work because leper gnome is better 75% of the time
If you play on NA don't go anywhere near this or any other Zoo deck. You will get your ass handed to you on a platter.
This deck is doing pretty well for me around rank 5 atm. There's a lot of hard decisions to be made, especialyl with unit position/miniziming juggle rng/impolision planning, etc. A lot of fun to play.
A full muligan guide would be very much appreicated though.
Also, weakest MU by far is paladian imo (as it was with Xixo's old list that be made #1 with)- chow into minibot into muster and then consecretaion back pocket is really tough.
Handlock/giants mage are also tough. Face hunter is challening in a different way, but actually mid-range hunter is pretty even despite hunter having the hero power advantage (without explosive trap, they can't easy clear your board)
Great deck. Have a bit of trouble with control warrior.
Edit: Can't beat handlock either.
so against handlock you want to keep there life total low but not too low and against warrior you have to be able to life tap a lot while making a presents on board and also how they dont have war axe into armor smith. of course it changes game to game and something may change if you really want to beat those deck then you should probably be playing boom. they are easy in the top 3 worst match ups so just keep working on it you got this. crush those kids.
people who just call this deck bad are some <removed> who never heard of zoo/played zoo or the type of facehunter/mechmage <removed> who hate to fight for board control . Like srsly i dont say zoo is top tier deck right now but it is still strong and going.. just needs to be played properly (which honestly is a bit harder than the above mentioned cancerdecks) ..
Don't know how this deck is so upvoted XD I'm sure you played way too many hours daily to get to legend 3 with this deck
love the deck! 8-4 so far. one question: how would you play elven archer? sometimes i have it first turn but i was wondering if it was more important to combo it for removal. thanks!
awesome, thanks guys!
I've been doing "ok" with this deck, but definitely feels very weak against a lot of popular matchups. I'm not winning against Oil Rogue, Huntards, Mech Mages or Taunt Druids. I guess if you omit those decks then Zoo stands a change : )
so against oil you have to make them use there face as a removal and hope they dont have backstab. hunterard is hard because they are faster but the taunts help. druid is draw dependent. mech mage is easy if you have coin average if you dont.
Top 3 EU playing nothing but this deck? Lol... ok
why elven archer? and no zombie chow or dark iron dwarf?
why no zombie chow? u must be genius :)
